Chapter 8

While no one was watching, someone quietly left the room. They found a private spot and called Emma.

"What? Getting married? So, it's true that the cripple man is getting married?"

"Y-yes, Ma'am, the bride is very beautiful."

"Fool! I don't care if she's beautiful or not, but who is the woman Diego is marrying?" Emma huffed impatiently.

"Oh, her name is Elena, Ma'am. They're getting ready for the blessing ceremony," Dona replied quickly.

"Elena, huh? All right. I'll head there immediately."

After giving her report, Dona hurried back to her post, but the other maids had already left and returned to their work.

"Where have you been, Dona? Jose was looking for you. If you're not sick anymore, get back to your work."

"Who are you to boss me around?" Dona replied irritably.

"I'm not bossing you around, Dona. I'm just passing on Jose's message," the other maid retorted, just as irritably. The two of them hurried off to the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Elena reached the front where Diego was waiting. A fancy car covered in roses stood ready for her, and Diego was already inside.

"Please, Ma'am," Mario said politely, inviting the bride to get in. Once everything was ready, the wedding car set off toward a church for the ceremony.

Elena sat nervously, not sure why she felt so anxious. Her heart raced as she squeezed her cold hands together, while the man beside her stayed calm.

Diego smiled at his beautiful bride. Noticing Elena's restlessness and nerves, he reached for her hand and held it gently.

"Relax, darling. Everything will be all right."

Elena nodded. This was not her first wedding, so she wondered why she felt so nervous. At her first wedding with Raul, she had been anxious too, but Grandma Maria had comforted her. Elena took a deep breath to calm herself.

Not long after, the wedding car arrived at the church Mario had chosen for the blessing ceremony of Diego Rodriguez and Elena Torres.

The priest welcomed the couple, and they slowly walked to the altar. Elena walked calmly next to Diego's wheelchair, feeling more composed. Some people in the congregation stood to greet the unique couple.

After the opening sermon and prayer, the couple exchanged their vows. They faced each other and held hands. The priest asked if they were both willing to accept each other and promise to stay together until death. They both answered with confidence.

After they exchanged vows, the priest asked them to put rings on each other's fingers as a sign of their union. Diego placed a diamond ring on Elena's finger, and she felt a rush of emotion. She could see how sincere Diego was as he spoke his vows.

The priest announced that they were now husband and wife, and it was time for the wedding kiss. Elena leaned down to meet Diego at his level. Diego kissed her gently, and she accepted his kiss warmly. She had truly decided to accept Diego as her husband.

"Thank you, my love," Diego whispered. Elena nodded slowly, smiling. Applause erupted in the sacred room.

Many people in the congregation, including Diego's employees and colleagues, came up to congratulate the couple. Elena felt like she was dreaming. She could hardly believe how much her life had changed in just one day. Yesterday, she was Raul Mendez's wife, and now she was Mrs. Diego Rodriguez. Life really is full of surprises.

Elena gazed at Diego's face. The man who was now officially her husband appeared calm and at peace, as if he had no worries at all. His gentle smile made Elena feel safe and at ease.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds went back to Diego's house. The reception took place in his mansion and lasted from afternoon until night. Mario had sent invitations to Diego's colleagues and employees.

Guests started to arrive, and Elena sat beside Diego, accepting their congratulations. A band played romantic songs as couples danced, filling Diego Rodriguez's mansion with a lively mood.

Suddenly, someone clapped loudly and shouted as they approached the newlyweds.

"Congratulations! Congratulations!"
