Victor's POV

I stood in the middle of the empty road for a long time. The morning sun was getting warmer, but I still felt cold inside. I watched the place where Scarlett's car had disappeared. My leg still hurt where she kicked me. That girl had more fight in her than anyone I ever met. Even when she was scared, she didn't run away. She stood her ground. I felt something warm in my chest, something I hadn't felt for many years.

The quiet street felt wrong after all the noise and fear. Jack Cole thought he was smart. He thought he could send his men to follow what was under my care. He thought he could scare me. He was very wrong.

I walked slowly back to my car. My feet felt heavy on the road. Each step made me more angry. I opened the car door and sat down. The leather seat made a soft sound under me. I turned the key and the engine came to life. The noise was loud in the quiet morning.

I started driving toward the college. I followed the same road Scarlett took. I needed to see

Jaxon's POVI pushed my bike faster down the empty highway. The engine roared loud beneath me. The wind screamed around my helmet. This was always how I cleared my mind. Just me and the open road. No thoughts. No worries. No problems to solve. But today was different. Today, nothing seemed to work.No matter how fast I went, I couldn't escape the memory. That night, when Scarlett walked out of Victor's room. I had been coming up the big stairs and saw her in the hallway. Her lips looked swollen from kissing. Her hair was messy and wild. And her eyes... her eyes had that dreamy look. The look of a woman who had given her whole self. Who would give anything he asked.Cars blew their horns as I flew past them. Drivers yelled things I couldn't quite hear. One man rolled down his window and screamed, "Slow down, you crazy man! You're going to get yourself killed out here!"My phone had been buzzing for many miles. Messages from my biking friends kept coming. "Jaxon, pull over right now!" "

  • Broken Then Desired    Chapter 31: Pathetic losers

Scarlett's POV The sound of Ayden's slap seemed to echo through the entire school. For a moment, nobody moved. Nobody breathed. Then, as if someone had pressed a button, the whole student body let out one big, shocked gasp. It was like music to my ears. Damn I wasn't expecting that, never knew Ayden had this side of him. Kelsey staggered back, her hand pressed against her red cheek. Her eyes were huge with pain and betrayal. She stared at Ayden as if he had ripped her heart right out of her chest. It was almost funny to watch. Slowly, I pushed myself up from the floor where I had been kneeling. I brushed the dust off my clothes. Then I did something that made every head turn toward me. I laughed. It wasn't a small, polite laugh. It was loud and real. The sound bounced off the hallway walls, breaking the heavy silence. Honestly I couldn't help it, thinking about it, it was actually funny. All around me, students were staring. Their eyes were wide with surprise. I didn't care. I t

  • Broken Then Desired    Chapter 30: Whore

Scarlett's POVThe school hall felt tight and close. You could feel the thrill and fear in the air. Students pressed in around us, making a tight ring with no way out. Everyone wanted to see what would happen next. Their eyes were eager for a show.. Her face was full of pure rage, twisted and mean. But I did not step back. I took one step up, then another, getting closer to her. My lips held a smile that did not fade, a smile that made her even more mad."You look upset, Kelsey, I said I wanna see what you've got," I said, my voice full of fake kindness that I knew would make her angry.Kelsey's hands made tight fists so hard I thought her nails might cut her skin. Her knuckles were white. "You think you are so smart, don't you?" she yelled, her voice shaking with anger.I gave a small shrug, making sure I looked very calm. "Well, next to you? Yes, I think I am. But that is not hard, is it? Even the school walls are smarter than you."Loud sounds of surprise came from the crowd. Kelse

Scarlett's POV Victor walked to my car. His face was like stone. He moved like a tiger, smooth but dangerous. He reached my door and opened it. "Get out," he said. His voice was so low it almost wasn't a sound. I got out slowly. My legs felt like jelly. I stood in front of him, waiting. He didn't say anything else. His eyes started at my head and moved down my body. He looked at every part of me. He was checking if I was hurt. I stood completely still. I let him look me over. When he finished, his eyes met mine. Still no words. Just that cold stare. Then I felt it , all the fear and anger from what happened today boiled up inside me like hot water. He had scared me so much. He pointed a gun at my car. He locked me inside. He made me think I was going to die. Without even thinking, I lifted my leg and kicked him hard in the shin. His eyes got big with surprise. But he didn't make a sound. He just looked at me. I made sure my eyes showed him everything I was feeling. All the

  • Broken Then Desired    Chapter 27: Don't Rile.

Victor's POV I watched Jack Cole move toward her car. My finger stayed tight on the trigger. Every step he took felt like a threat. He leaned down. He peered through the glass at her. My Scarlett. She was frozen in her seat. Her eyes were huge and dark with fear. She was not looking at Cole. She was looking past him. Right at me. I saw the trust in her eyes. And the fear. It cut me deeper than any knife. I gave her a small nod. Just a little movement of my head. I hoped it would calm her. It is okay, I mouthed the words without sound. I am here. She saw me. Her shoulders relaxed, just a little. Cole straightened up. He did not look disappointed. He looked pleased. He turned to me with that ugly smile. “She is a pretty little thing,” Cole said. His voice was like oil. Slick and dirty. “I see why you keep her around.” I did not answer. I just watched him. He walked a little closer to me. “So tell me, Victor,” he said, his voice dropping to a nasty whisper. “What does she tast
