Chapter 2

Author: Beloved Farewell
Seeing that Jared was about to hang up on me, the police officer took over the call. "Hello, I'm Officer Zeller, a police officer stationed at Wimborne Police Precinct.

"Your wife is not lying. The situation here is extremely dire. I called the emergency hotline, but they said the other emergency response teams are busy, while everyone on your team is absent. Please bring your team here immediately. 34 lives are at stake!"

However, all we received from Jared's end were harsh words. Jared's team members even defended him.

"Kaitlyn, who the hell is this guy? I know some people from Wimborne Police Precinct, but I've never heard of him before."

"You're always watching Mr. Sadler like a hawk. Can't you give him some freedom? You can make up whatever scenario you want, but do you have to call the emergency hotline? Do you want us to be punished too?"

At their words, Officer Zeller's face turned red with anger.

I quickly whispered to him, "Hurry and contact another team. That bus won't last much longer."

Jared and his team hadn't believed me in my previous life either. Zachary's school was nearby, and my friend, Michael Lawson, worked in that area, so I called him for help back then.

Michael immediately went to see the principal. Only then did Jared and his team come to rescue the passengers.

However, both Michael and I ended up dead at the bottom of a ravine.

This time, I wouldn't drag anyone innocent down with me.

When Jared heard what I said, he angrily shouted, "That's enough, Kaitlyn Jensen! How many more people will you involve in this?

"I know the people at the fire departments and the emergency response teams near your location. If you call and bother them, I'll show you the consequences of lying!"

As Jared hung up, Officer Zeller was furious. "I don't believe that the leader of an emergency response team has that much power!"

Saying that, he used his phone to call a bunch of different numbers.

I sighed. Jared did indeed have that much influence.

After all, he had worked at all the nearby fire departments before, but he never got promoted, no matter how much time passed. He only resigned after being offered the position of the leader of the emergency response team.

I added, "Call an emergency response team that's stationed farther away, or we won't make it in time."

In the past, including the time needed for the rescue efforts, the bus had fallen into the ravine after 40 minutes. Although Jared and his team arrived on time, half of the bus' passengers fell with the bus and died.

They could have rescued everyone. But seeing that Madison and my son, Samuel Sadler, were seated at the back, Jared stubbornly went to save them first. His weight tilted the bus, making a branch snap and speeding up the bus' descent.

Now, even without violating any protocols, the bus could last for at most an hour. An emergency response team that was farther away would take around 40 minutes to arrive. Although the time would be tight, at least some of the passengers could be rescued.

Suddenly, my phone rang. It was a call from Kyle Walker, a member of the nearby fire department and Jared's classmate. He often came over to eat with us.

"Kaitlyn, you've put me in a tough spot here. Why are you blowing your lover's spat out of proportion? Jay called me just as the command center gave us the order. You're just wasting the country's resources here. It's illegal to make a false police report, you know?"

Shane's face immediately turned red. He yelled at Wendy, "You'd better explain yourself!""It's not what you think. Zachary was just playing around."Jared also slammed the table and stood up. "Wendy, who is this man?"I looked at Wendy and asked, "So you won't admit it? What about the results of this paternity test? For confirmation, I made sure to do the same test at multiple agencies."Then, I showed the results of the paternity test to the three of them."Jared, you cheated on me and even have a son this old, yet you want me to forfeit all my assets. Dream on!"But before Jared could speak, Shane had already slapped Wendy. "You bitch! You deceived me! Didn't you say that you only love me? Didn't you say that you ended things with this broke son of bitch?"Jared had always been protective of Wendy and never let her suffer, but he didn't stop Shane this time. Then, I dropped another bombshell."Jared, you accused me of killing Madison and Samuel, but the one who killed them i

Before I left, I installed hidden cameras in all the rooms, including the bathrooms. At 9:00 pm, I reported all of my findings in the group chat."I always thought Zachary looked like Jared, and he's younger than Samuel by three months. If we can prove that Zachary is Jared's son, then we'll have evidence of his infidelity."Michael responded, "I had someone visit Wendy's old workplace and ask around about her. She was Jared's first girlfriend. She left him and ran off with a rich man."It was apparently a big deal back then. Jared made a huge fuss outside of Wendy's house and refused to break up with her."Wendy lied to him, saying that she had fallen ill and needed money. She also said that since Jared couldn't fork out the money, she had no choice but to be with the rich man."She promised to break with the rich man and return to Jared after she was cured. But a few days after she broke up with Jared, he met you."She also has another secret. Not long after you got pregnant, J

Michael picked up his car keys and said to me, "Let's go to Wimborne Police Precinct. Didn't that police officer see everything that happened at the site of the accident? Let's ask him to clear our names."I followed him. After arriving at the precinct, we found Officer Zeller, the police officer who called Jared with me.After listening to my explanation, he was furious. "How can he be so despicable? I'll testify for you!"Then, he used his own social media account to explain the situation during the accident. He quickly went viral. The netizens who insulted me immediately turned on the person who had started the rumor.I thought things would soon die down like this, but the tables turned again by nightfall. A few anonymous accounts had posted the same series of pictures. They were taken at the site of the accident and showed Officer Zeller and me leaning close to each other when he used my phone to call Jared. It was angled similarly to the previous pictures, making it look l

"Kaitlyn, if you hadn't brought it up, I would've demanded a divorce anyway! Since you cheated on me and killed my mom and my son, I want you to forfeit all of your assets!"My interactions with him today made me rethink everything I thought I knew about him from our eight years together. I thought it was strange for him to show his true colors now after so many years of biding his time, but I didn't want to think about that right now.I just wanted to leave this despicable man as soon as possible. I asked, "Are you sure you want me to forfeit all of my assets?""It's non-negotiable. You must forfeit your assets. How dare you ask me that question?"I put the scissors away and gave him my assent. Then, I went to the bedroom to pack up my things. Although I was the one who bought this house and paid the loan for it, both our names were on the deed.I didn't want to argue with Jared any more than necessary, so I would have been fine with dividing our assets equally, including the h

After listening to their voice messages, I laughed bitterly. They hadn't believed me when I begged them to come. But now that something had happened, they were pushing all the blame onto me.Yet, I wasn't afraid because a lot of reporters were at the site of the accident earlier. Officer Zeller could testify for me as well. After dinner, I visited the house I inherited from my parents and tidied up the place. I was planning to move there. After everything I went through, I couldn't bring myself to share a room with Jared again. I also asked Michael to find a reliable divorce attorney for me. It was already 8:00 pm by the time I arrived home. Upon opening the door, I saw Jared, Wendy, and Zachary looking at me sullenly from the couch. Before I could even speak, Jared rushed forward and slapped me across the face. "You bitch!"I held my face and asked in disbelief, "Are you crazy? You're the one who refused to believe me and left them to die!""Bullshit! That's my mom and son. I

After being reborn, I finally realized that Jared had just been playing hard to get to keep me under his control. He treated me well during the first two years after our marriage. Although I was rarely home because of work, he would shower me with love whenever I returned. He would pin me down in the bed and make love to me all night. It was as if he wanted to become one with me. He also sided with me whenever Madison nitpicked me.That was why I held on for so many years. I could accept life's challenges and Madison's absurd expectations, but I couldn't tolerate any flaws in my marriage.I considered divorce toward the end of my previous life, but Jared would always pull the same stunt. His attitude toward me was always unpredictable, shifting from hot to cold. Every time we fought, he would somehow push all the blame onto me, gaslighting me into believing that I was making a big deal of nothing. I just hadn't expected to die before confirming his feelings for me.Suddenly, Mi
