JULIAN'S POV

Music sounded in the background. Cheers rang, and men chatted excitedly.

The blue and red lighting in the room screamed comfort, and everyone couldn't help but relax.

The red wine before me bubbled, highlighting how excited I was at the moment. "Look at that handsome dude..." I secretly gestured to a man sitting at the other end of the room.

The man had his eyes lowered, pressing his phone.

Abel clicked his tongue. "That man? He's been staring at you since we came in." He said with no interest. "You should look at better men. Look at that one sitting amidst his friends. He's hot."

My eyes wandered in the direction he pointed to, and my mouth parted slightly when I saw the exposed chest of the man.

Hot. Sexy!

Even sweat seemed to understand how hot the man was as it dripped down the line of the abs.

"Do I take him, or do you wanna take him?" I asked, winking at Abel.

Abel sneered. "Aren't you married?"

"Married?" My heart suddenly sank.

It was strange. Why did I

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 39: FRUSTRATION

JULIANAfter sorting things out with Abel and arranging my schedule for the shooting, he stood up and left. I sat alone in the sitting room, my eyes closed and head resting on the couch. A low sigh escaped my lips. Using the pregnancy to pin Xavier with me sounded like something that was indeed possible. But what were my feelings toward him?He was once just a handsome alpha with excellent bed skills. Then, he became a contract marriage partner... someone I'd expected to leave in a few weeks. But now, what were my feelings toward him?I rubbed my temple wearily. "Julian?"Xavier's deep voice rang in my ears, and I opened my eyes. I saw him standing before me. I was so lost in thought that I didn't even notice his presence until he called. Seeing that handsome face before me, I felt my heart beating faster. My lips twitched, and then it dawned on me___ What I loved was Xavier's good looks and maybe his bed skills? No, not maybe. I definitely loved his bed skills. Wasn't that wh

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 38: RESOLVE

JULIAN Only after my mother left and Xavier retired to his study for work did Abel finally cheer up. He took my hand, tugged me toward the sitting room, and beamed brightly. "So, you decided to keep the baby?" His tone wasn't low at all. It was as if he had forgotten that the person he was so scared of was still at home. My lips twitched. "Yes," I replied, rubbing my belly. Abel blinked. He lowered his eyes to my belly and stretched his hand but soon returned it. He looked at me and his lips pressed into a thin line. "Can I touch it?" He asked. I could tell he was shy. I chuckled. "You can. But you need to remember that it's only about three weeks old." I reminded him. After spending almost a week in the hospital, the pregnancy was already almost three weeks old. Abel nodded. "I know. It's just that it's my first time getting so close to a pregnant person." He said as he slowly touched my belly. His movement was extremely gentle, like he was scared of hurting the baby. I f

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 37: DINNER

JULIAN My mother held my hand and helped me up from the seat. I walked toward the dining room where the food had been arranged and had a seat. Perceiving the pleasant aroma of the dinner made by my mother and Xavier, I found my mouth almost watering. I had to swallow to stop myself from encountering another embarrassment. Xavier dutifully served food on my plate and without wasting time... no, I couldn’t even waste time as my stomach was already growling. I began eating. "Thank you," I said, chewing. "It's okay. Xavier did almost everything." My mother replied, waving her hand dismissively. After pushing away the third plate, I felt like something was wrong with me. It was like there was a void in my belly that kept taking the food, and only after eating the third time did I feel a bit comfortable. I raised a brow at my mother, who had long finished eating and was only staring at me. "Do you think I've turned into a pig?" I asked, blinking hard. As an artist, the first thi

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 36: HOME

JULIAN After settling things in the hospital and getting instructions on how to protect the pregnancy, Xavier and I returned to our matrimonial home. My mum followed along. Even though I had tried to convince her otherwise, she was so stubborn that she wouldn't listen. Getting home, Xavier and my mother packed our things into the house while I watched from the side. "Go inside first," Xavier said in a gentle tone. My lips pursed. "I can help, too." I'd tried to help when I got down from the car, but they both stopped me. Why were they treating me like a child?Xavier approached and ruffled my hair. "Go inside, okay? Be good." He mumbled and kissed my forehead. My tongue grazed the corners of my mouth, trying to hold back my smile, but I could tell my ears would be red already.I nodded shyly, turned around, and hopped into the house. "Walk." My mother's voice came from behind, and my steps faltered. I froze for a moment. Wait, did my mother see us earlier????My neck grew s

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 35: KEEPING THE BABY

JULIAN My head ached as my eyes parted. I looked at my mother and Xavier, whose eyes showed worry at the moment. My brows furrowed. I was confused. The last thing I remembered was holding a child in that place and then...My eyes suddenly widened, and I held my belly. I groped around, trying to see if everything was alright, but to my disappointment, I couldn't feel anything. I closed my eyes wearily. What exactly was going on?"Julian?" I heard my mother's call and opened my eyes. "Mum, what happened?" I asked, my voice hoarse and weak. My mother took my hand in hers and slowly sat down. "You fainted in the doctor's office and nearly endangered the child..." She said with a voice filled with distress. My lips pursed. I fainted? Wait... Everything was a dream. The abortion... the death... the baby... they were all a dream...My heart began racing rapidly as I glanced at Xavier, "We didn't abort the child?" I asked almost in a trembling tone. Xavier's brows furrowed as he

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 34: DREAM?

JULIANI lay on the operating bed with my hands covering my belly. A small smile played on my lips as I watched the doctors walk around, arranging things. Xavier took my hand and gently squeezed. "Do you really want this?" He asked. The sadness in his eyes was overwhelming. My heart ached slightly. But was I really ready to carry a child? The answer was no. No matter what, I couldn't keep this child, and I wouldn't change my mind, especially when everyone already given their consent, and I could finally get rid of the pregnancy. "This is what I want," I said as I watched one of the doctors approach me with an injection in hand. The middle-aged man had a mask covering his nose and mouth, but his eyes still held the kindness of an elder. He took my arm and glanced at me. "This injection will make you sleep, and by the time you're awake, the pregnancy will be gone." He explained. My lips slowly pursed, and my stomach churned, but I still nodded my head. "I understand," I replied
