CHAPTER 30: REGRET

REAH'S POV 

The room was eerily quiet after he left. I stayed on the seat for a while, staring at nothing in particular. My eyes were empty and my heart was pained. 

Only I knew how much I wanted him, how much I wanted him to make love to me, make me his and take me all night instead of just the foreplay but thinking about the hatred I always see in his eyes, I couldn't bring myself to do it with him. 

I loved him, I loved him so much but he hated me as much as I loved him. 

I looked at the sky again but I couldn't see it anymore as tears already blurred my eyes. I stood up from my seat and picked my clothes from the ground. I walked toward the bathroom where I sat in the bathtub, hoping the water would wash away my despair. 

I closed my eyes, Cleaning away all distracting thoughts for a while before I stood up and walked out of the bathroom. I put on the hospital gown and walked toward the bed where I lay down for the night. 

Different thoughts made me restless, my thoughts were complicated and I even blamed myself for not letting him have sex with me earlier but it was too late already. 

He had left and even if he was around, I wouldn't let him have his way with me either until the hatred in his eyes disappeared. 

I closed my eyes gently, wanting to force myself to sleep and fortunately, the sleep came in no time. 

Waking up the next morning, I looked around the room in search of Alpha Xavier but he was nowhere to be found. He must have left for home yesterday or maybe he went to relieve himself with the help of some other ladies. 

"He hates women touching him,"

Fryster's word echoed in my ears and my chest tightened. Alpha Xavier could not even let himself be touched by women, how could he relieve himself then? 

Thinking about the pain he must have gone through yesterday night after he left my place, I felt a little guilty and sighed deeply. 

The door opened and another doctor came in. "Good Morning, Luna Reah," The Doctor greeted cheerfully after he found out that Alpha Xavier wasn't in the room. 

I smiled at him, "Good Morning, Doctor," I replied. 

The doctor walked over, reported some things and tested me for a while before he nodded with a smile. "You are fine now," He said. "You just have to keep taking the nutrients that were prescribed and you will become very strong," He teased and we both laughed. 

The doctor discharged me and a few minutes later, The door opened again, revealing Alpha Xavier's Beta, whose name I had no idea about. 

He bowed slightly "Good Morning, Luna," He greeted and I nodded in response. I had no good view of him as he had never acted nice to me anyway. 

"Alpha sent me to take you home," He explained. 

"Where is he? Where is Alpha Xavier?" 

"He's in office already," He replied. 

I opened my mouth, wanting to ask if Alpha Xavier was alright but I stopped myself at the last second and just stood up instead. "You can stay out for a while. I want to change," I told him. 

Luna Bella brought some clothes for me to change to yesterday. The Beta nodded and left the room, after which the doctor also left. 

Seeing that they had left, I stood up from the bed and started undressing. After a while, I carried my bag and left the ward. 

"Let me," The Beta said and collected the bag from me. 

He led the way downstairs and opened the car for me. He wasn't as cold as the first day I saw him but I knew he didn't like me either. He started the car and drove out of the hospital "Can you take me to Leonard's hospital? I want to see my mother," I said to him. 

"Okay," He simply replied and turned the car around. 

Seeing that, I felt joyful in my heart. I only asked because I wanted to push my chance. I wasn't expecting him to agree and it came as a surprise to me. 

He drove down to Leonard's hospital and parked in front of the hospital. He came down to open the door for me, "Should I follow you in?" He asked. 

"No, that won't be necessary. I don't want the people here knowing much about what's going on in my life," I replied and walked away from him. 

I made my way into the hospital and searched for my mother's ward, getting there, I opened the door but to my surprise, my mother wasn't there anymore. 

"Reah, You are here!" One of the women in the ward greeted me excitedly. 

"Oh, Yes. I've been busy these days so I haven't been visiting regularly," 

She waved her hand and laughed "Don't worry about that. I've seen your work. You are such a filial child, you even helped your mother change her room to a VIP room!" The woman said sweetly. 

"VIP room?" I was confused. When did I do that?

The woman laughed again "Yes. She was taken to the VIP ward yesterday. You should go see her there. You don't need to check up on us first," She replied. 

Seeing the woman's vibrant expression and the way she seemed so proud of me, I couldn't bring myself to tell her that it wasn't me so I just smiled at her, greeted the rest and left the room. 

Getting out of the ward, I couldn't help but wonder who could have changed my mother's ordinary Ward to a VIP ward. 

I saw a nurse passing by and quickly rushed toward her "Nurse Kate," I called and the nurse paused. 

She turned her head and her eyes lit up when she saw me "Reah, It's been a few days. How have you been?" She asked. 

"I'm okay. Yes, Nurse. Where's my mother's ward?" 

She smiled softly and looked around "What's your relationship with Alpha Xavier?" Her question confused me and I frowned. 

"What do you mean?' Alpha Xavier and I had never gone anywhere together and only a few people knew about our relationship so how did this nurse know about it?

She cowered her mouth and chuckled "You don't need to be so surprised. Alpha Xavier sent his men to change your mother's ward yesterday. He even made arrangements to call experts all over the world to treat her and make sure she woke up again. Tell me, what's your relationship with him?" She seemed to be ready for some gossip. 

I took a step back and shook my head, I was mildly shocked in my heart but kept a straight face "Alpha Xavier is my boss. I just got a job as his Secretary. He must have helped my mother because of his office policy that emphasized unity and love," I lied 

The Nurse seemed to be thinking for a few seconds but she soon nodded her head "You're right. That must have been the case. There's no way someone like Alpha Xavier will grow a fancy to a human," The Nurse said and continued walking. "She's in room 18,".

I watched her leave with confusion written across my face. I couldn't help but wonder why Alpha Xavier would do that for me when he hated me so much. 

Remembering that Beta was waiting for me downstairs and knowing how busy he was, I decided to see my mother first. I walked toward the ward and opened the door, I entered and saw my mother in bed. 

I rushed toward her and held her hand, she still had her eyes closed. "Mum," I called softly. 

She did not react, she did not move at all and my heart ached again. "I need you right now, Mum. I need you more than ever. I feel very confused, I don't know who to talk to. I don't know who to ask for advice," I mumbled, tears rolling down my eyes. 

"Mum, Do you know that I'm pregnant? I'm carrying your grandchild already and I'm married. I married the most handsome man on earth as I always told you when I was younger," I said playfully and smiled. 

"His mother is very nice too. She even told me to call her mother and do you know what's strange? I feel the same aura I feel around you with her. Whenever I'm with her, I feel relaxed and happy. I feel comfortable and excited. She is such a good woman and she takes good care of me.' I talked to my mother about everything that was going on in my life without going into deep detail about the things that were going on in my life. I knew that would only worry her more and who knew if that would worsen her condition?
