CHAPTER 34: JESSIE AGAIN

REAH'S POV 

A few weeks later...

Frsyter picked up a call and left for Alpha Xavier's office. He returned a few minutes later with a hasty pace "Alpha Xavier wants me to attend to some things. Can you do well as a Secretary alone?" He asked worriedly. 

He knew how Alpha Xavier had been making things difficult for me and he understood I hadn't learned much about the job either. 

"I can, Don't worry about me," I replied to him but he didn't seem convinced at all. "When will you be back, though?'

"I won't be back today. The errand isn't in his country," He replied and my eyes twitched. 

"Wow! See you tomorrow then," I replied and picked up a book while Fryster packed his bag. 

"Bye, Reah. See you tomorrow," He waved at me as he left the office. 

I watched him leave and pouted slightly. It wasn't that early anymore but we still had to spend at least five hours in the office. I couldn't imagine how I would stay alone for the remaining five hours and to know that Luna Bella left yesterday too, I suddenly felt lonely. 

Luna Bella had packed her things yesterday, she told me that her doctor was ready and though I didn't want her to leave, I knew I had no choice so I just hugged her, followed her to the Airport and let her go. 

Tears kept rolling down my eyes as I watched her leave. My heart ached and I wished I could follow her but I knew Alpha Xavier wouldn't let me. It would be wrong to leave my husband for so many months too~.

I let out a deep breath as I returned my attention to the book in my hand. I had read the first book and only the second book was renamed. Fryster told me to take my time reading them as he would ask me strict questions in a week so I decided to read as if I was preparing for an exam. 

My phone started ringing and checking, I realised it was Gabriel. 

"Hey, Gabriel!" I called cheerfully. 

"Reah, How have you been?" Gabriel's cool voice entered my ears and I smiled. 

"I'm fine. How about you? How's work?"

"You took that out of my mouth. Work is fine, how is work too?" He laughed as he asked. 

I covered my mouth and chuckled. "It's going well. How's Joyce?" 

"She's fine. I called to tell you about my birthday party next Saturday. Will you be available?" 

My eyes widened and I immediately covered my mouth. I had totally forgotten about his birthday but I mustn't let him know that. "Oh Yeah, I should be available. No, I will surely be available," I responded. There was no way I would miss his birthday party!

"Okay then. I will be expecting you," He replied. 

"Have fun," I said and ended the call. 

I stared at the phone for a while, inwardly scolding myself for forgetting his birthday when he had always remembered mine. 

Dropping the phone to continue reading, I heard footsteps getting closer, it seemed far away but due to my sensitive ears these days, I was able to hear it. 

The door opened and Jessie walked in "Good afternoon," She greeted first, surprising me. 

"Good afternoon," I greeted back, standing up. 

Jessie walked closer and stood in front of my desk "I'm here to see Alpha Xavier. Is he inside?" Her voice held no arrogance like it did before and her expression was cool too. 

This kind of expression was what she always showed in her dramas and it made me wonder if she was real at the moment or not. I also wonder why she was acting like nothing happened when we fell out with each other the other day she came around. 

"I will check on him," I told her and walked toward Alpha Xavier's office. 

He had warned me to not call him when I could just enter his office and ask him whatever I wanted. 

"Come in,"

I heard his reply after I knocked on his door and I entered. 

"Lady Jessie is here to see you, Sir. Should I let her in?" I asked politely. 

He looked at me and shook his head "Tell her I'm in a meeting and it's going to take a while. She shouldn't wait. I will see her on set in two days," He replied and when I looked at him, I could see that he was really making a call...

I bowed and left his office. "He's in an online meeting right now. He said he would see you on set in two days if you can't wait today," I reported to Jessie who was waiting for me. 

She sighed and nodded her head "That's alright. I only wanted to give him this," She said as she brought out a wine from her bag. "I got these for him when I travelled two days ago. I heard it's a thousand-year refined wine and I'm sure he's going to like it. Help me hand it over to him when he's done," She gave me the wine which I received from her. 

I looked at it and nodded when I saw the name. It seemed to be a high brand as the name was strange to me. "I will let him know that this came from you," I told her and she nodded. 

"Thanks, Reah. I should leave now," She said and turned around to leave. 

I watched her leave, unable to comprehend what made her behaviour change so much within the few days we hadn't met. 

I shrugged and decided to just sit. It wasn't like I could find out anyway and I wasn't ready to ask her anything. It was just nice that she did not come to trouble me again and that was all that mattered. 

A few hours later, I heard the door open and I looked toward Alpha Xavier's office only to see that he was standing there. He seemed to be very tired and his face looked disgruntled. Someone must have annoyed him somehow. 

I stood up and bowed, "You are done?" I asked. 

He looked at me and frowned "Fuck off!" He groaned before walking close. 

He grabbed the wine on the table "For you?" 

"For you," I replied and he took it away. "It's..."

"Shut up!" He growled. "Your voice gives me  headache," He mused and entered his office. 

His attitude had turned worse since yesterday. The moment Luna Bella left, it was like he had become a colder person. He didn't even let me touch him last night before we went to bed and this morning, it was Beta who brought me to the office. He told me to get out of the car when I wanted to enter...

I watched him close the door behind him with a frown on my pretty face, unable to understand what had gone wrong again. 

I let out a deep breath and sat down, staring at the book in my hand.

"Come over," 

I heard a voice in my head and I immediately knew it was Alpha Xavier's. However, it wasn't painful this time around, it was just uncomfortable. 

I stood up and entered his office. The moment I got in, I saw him removing his tie. "What did you do?" He questioned, glaring at me as he fanned himself with his hand. 

He removed his button aggressively, his eyes darting around as if he were trying to figure something out. 

"I should be the one asking you that. What have I done to deserve this attitude from you since yesterday? I was starting to get used to you ignoring me and only talking to me in bed but since yesterday, it got worse. You didn't even allow me to touch you last night. You sent me out of the car today too and I saw the way you seemed to avoid me all night. What have I done?" I questioned back, unable to bottle up the frustration anymore. 

Alpha Xavier threw away his shirt, revealing his naked chest and I was startled "Is that why you decided to do it this way?" He questioned and my eyes twitched. 

"Why are you removing your shirt? What is wrong with you?" I took a step back as I asked. My fingers trembling. 

Why was he undressing inside his office? Why was he looking so red and even breathing haggardly?

Alpha Xavier growled and appeared in front of me the next second. He grabbed my shoulders and pulled me closer "I hate you, Reah. You keep making things difficult for me!" He yelled and his red turned even redder. 

His grip on my shoulders loosened as he stepped back. He seemed to be trying to control himself but he was finding it very difficult. 

I walked toward his desk, realizing something was wrong and I picked up the cup he just used. I checked the wine too and looked at him again... 

"You've been drugged," I mumbled.
