CHAPTER 12: REALLY A HUMAN

REAH'S POV

He closed his eyes and just slept like that. I looked at his face which was very peaceful as if he just achieved what he wanted and my anger grew. I clenched my fist tightly and cursed inwardly. How could someone be like this?

I laid in bed, closed my eyes and tried to force myself to sleep but no matter how hard I tried, I wasn't able to. Thousands of thoughts kept crossing my mind and at one point, I thought of running away in the middle of the night... 

Alpha Xavier turned around, facing me, he moved his hand toward me and his large palm covered my breast, grabbing it. He pressed it, his face scrunched up a little as if he was wondering what was in his hand but after a few touches, a small smile covered his lips and he left his hand there. 

I felt mortified. Everything he did annoyed me and I felt the urge to break his hands but all I could do was close my eyes and pretend as if I was asleep. 

Hours flew by and yet, I was unable to sleep at all. Alpha Xavier did not even open his eyes once all through the night and seeing how he gave no damn about me made my heart bled. 

Seeing that it was almost morning, I removed his hand that was covering my breast and stepped down the bed. I walked toward the bathroom, where I had a long tiring bath as my whole body ached somehow and my head was aching. Coming out of the bathroom, I made sure I was already in the gown again as that was the only cloth I had currently. 

I walked toward the mirror, where I dried my hair and styled it. My part-time work today was in a supermarket where I had been working for a while already. I looked at the dress which seemed to be enough to buy all the products in the supermarket and I let out a deep breath. 

I walked over to the couch and picked up my bag, it was time to leave for work. I walked toward the door and was about to open the door when I heard a light cough behind me, startling me. 

"Where do you think you're going?" Alpha Xavier's cold voice entered my ears and I froze. "Come back here," He ordered. 

I bit my lower lip and clenched my hands as I slowly turned around to look at him. "I'm going to work," I said to him, trying my best to act as calm as possible. 

Alpha Xavier yawned lazily and sat up in bed. "You are working? Where? At the hotel?" His voice was cold and his eyes were mocking. 

I swallowed the curse that was threatening to come out of my throat and forced a smile "Not at the hotel but at a supermarket." I replied and he sneered. 

"So, you are a Salesgirl," He mocked and I rolled my eyes. 

"Yes, I don't have a job yet so I'm okay being a sales girl for now and it's none of your business, either." I retorted, crossing my arms on my chest. 

Alpha Xavier's expression changed slightly as he stared at me, the coldness in his eyes was freezing and I involuntarily shivered. "Drop that bag and come back here," He ordered. 

A low sneer escaped my lips when I heard that. "Is that an order? Have you forgotten that I'm not a member of your Pack? I'm a human!" I yelled at him, hoping he would regain his senses and stop acting as if I was his slave or something. 

Alpha Xavier rested his head on the pillow, a smirk playing on his lips as if he was watching a good show, "You are my Luna and as the Luna of my Pack, You can't be seen working as a sales girl." He growled. 

He was right... But...

"I don't care," I replied. "You said it anyway, that our marriage doesn't count and I'm only your Luna in name. I have to work to survive and I won't let you stop me." I retorted and turned around to leave. 

"If you dare take a step there!" 

Alpha Xavier's growl sounded in my head and my mind turned blank. My body trembled and my lips quivered. I turned weakly to look at him "What... What did you do?" I asked, realizing I was only getting weaker. 

Alpha Xavier stood up from the bed and walked toward me. The more he moved closer, the more my body trembled and an unexpected fear gripped my heart, wanting to tear it apart. "What I did do to you?" He uttered, his fingers grabbed my chin and he raised my head to look into his eyes which were glowing red at the moment. "Don't you forget you are my mate and you are marked!" He grunted before releasing my chin abruptly! 

I breathed weakly, my eyes moist with tears as I tried to fight the weakness in me, "You can't stop me from working, Xavier. You don't own my life!" I yelled with the little strength in me, pushing away the fear that refused to go away. 

He was about to talk when we heard a knock on the door and my heart started racing. A silent prayer escaped my lips as I hoped it would be Luna Bella and she would save me from her beastly son. 

He seemed to realize something as he grunted and pushed me aside. Immediately, the grip on me was loosened and my body returned to normal. The fear diminished and the trembling stopped completely. 

He opened the door, revealing Luna Bella who was dressed in a beautiful blue gown. "Oh, Darling, You're awake," She said excitedly when she saw me but her smile soon died down when she noticed the tears that rolled down my eyes. "What happened?" Luna Bella panicked.
