• Gaea •

I let Clyden inside my apartment, even though he still hadn’t calmed down. His fists were clenched tight, his entire face flushed with restrained anger.

I grabbed a glass of cold water from the fridge and handed it to him. He glanced at my hand first, then looked up at me with a deep frown.

“What am I supposed to do with that?”

I didn’t answer. Instead, I took both of his hands and placed the glass in them.

“I’m not thirsty, Gaea—”

I rolled my eyes and raised a brow. “Drink it so you can calm down,” I said, irritation slipping into my voice.

He looked at me like I was the one losing my mind. “I am calm.”

I sat beside him and wrapped an arm around his shoulders—tight, almost restraining. “Really? Then why does it feel like you’re about to explode? What did I do this time?”

Instead of removing my arm, he held onto it. My brows furrowed, and I was about to smack him when he suddenly turned and pressed his lips against mine.

“Do you like candies?”

I blinked, confused rather than angry. “What do you mean?”

His fingers brushed my cheek, trailing slowly down to my slightly parted lips. I slapped his hand away and shot him a glare.

“Babe, your lips taste so sweet… like candy.”

I shook my head and stood up, putting distance between us before things got out of hand. “You’re just taking advantage.”

He laughed softly and stood as well. I raised a brow when he stepped closer.

“And I won’t forget that you punched Russu.”

The smile on his lips vanished instantly at the mention of Russu. I only shrugged and walked toward the kitchen. Talking to him was making me hungry.

“What did you even see in that guy?”

So he followed me.

I ignored him, washed my hands at the sink, then moved to the fridge to grab something to eat.

Just as I was about to open it, he shut it.

I frowned and tried again.

He shut it again.

I bit my lip in annoyance and turned to him. “Stop it, Clyden.”

I pushed him away, but he caught my hand.

“What do you want? I’m hungry. Why are you stopping me?”

“Answer me first,” he said, his voice firm. “Why do you like him?”

I scratched my forehead, exasperated. Why was he even asking? Wasn’t it obvious I still hadn’t moved on from Russu?

“First of all, I don’t even know why I fell for him. That’s just how love works,” I said. “Second, are you going to insult me if I admit I’m still waiting for him to come back?”

I smirked when he didn’t answer. I pushed him away gently and turned my back on him.

I opened the fridge, grabbed some fresh milk and the pretzels I hadn’t finished earlier, then sat at the table.

“Aren’t you going home yet?” I asked. He was still behind me, like he’d frozen in place. “What’s your problem?”

He walked over and sat beside me. One arm rested behind my chair, the other on the table.

“Do you really think if you forgive him and get back together, he won’t cheat on you again?” he asked, one brow raised.

I couldn’t answer right away. Not because I didn’t know—but because I couldn’t meet his eyes. It felt like he could read everything I was thinking.

“Answer me, Ms. Montessori,” he pressed.

I swallowed and looked away. “Of course I don’t want to get hurt again… but I love him. So why not try one more time? Just once—”

My eyes widened when he suddenly captured my lips again. I tried to turn away, but he held my jaw firmly, forcing me to face him.

“If you’re going to try again,” he murmured, “why not try with someone new?”

I frowned and pushed his hand away, giving him a small smile. “Because it’s easier with someone I already know. I understand him. I know who he is.”

He shook his head and stood up.

“You know who he is, and you still want to go back? Just to get hurt again?” He placed his hand on top of my head. “You’re wasting your time on the wrong person. Try looking around… maybe the right one’s already near you.”

I raised a brow at him. He just shrugged and started walking toward the door.

I thought he was leaving, but he suddenly turned back and winked.

A smile tugged at my lips.

“What if I’m the one meant for you?” he said with a grin.

I burst out laughing, even clapping my hands in disbelief.

“You?” I pointed at him, laughing harder. “With all the women you’ve been with, you might not even realize you already have a kid somewhere.”

My heartbeat quickened when he suddenly strode back toward me.

I tried to stand, but he pressed me back into my seat, his gaze locking onto mine.

“This time, there’s only one person I want,” he said seriously.

I stayed silent, turning my face away from him.

“Do you know who that is, Ms. Montessori?”

When I didn’t answer, he leaned closer and pressed a quick kiss to my cheek. Then I felt his breath near my ear, warm against my skin.

I tried to push him away, but he pinned me down harder, trapping me with his leg.

“Clyden…” I whispered, my body going rigid, my voice barely steady. “I can hear you—”

“You,” he murmured. “It’s you. I want you.”

His lips curled into a dangerous smile.

“You messed up my life… so take responsibility for me, Gaea Montessori.”

And just like that, he left.

I remained in the kitchen, trying to steady myself.

I’m scared of falling for him.

But my body—and my heart—are already leaning toward temptation.

It seems like my mind is the only thing still holding on.

And he’s not the only one whose world was shaken when we met.

I was too.

Because every time he’s near…

I forget how to breathe.

•Gaea•I woke up early… or rather, I never really slept. My mind kept replaying what Clyden did to me last night. It was just a simple “I like you,” but coming from someone like Clyden Lee… those words weren’t simple at all.I sat on the sofa, resting my elbows on my knees and my face in my hands.“Gaea, are you still asleep?”I ignored him, eyes still closed, trying to force myself into sleep even while sitting.“Why are you sleeping there? Aren’t you cold? Your body’s going to ache. You look like a monkey curled up like that, Gaea.”I almost stood up just to throw something at him.Mock everything—but not someone who didn’t get any sleep.I shot him a glare. He only laughed. Then he walked closer, gently lowering my knees before pulling me into a tight embrace.“Stay in your room and sleep, sleepyhead,” he murmured, his hand slowly stroking my hair.I closed my eyes.It felt… too comforting.Like he was lulling me to sleep on purpose.“Let’s go to your room.”I shook my head and hug

•Gaea•Clyden led me toward the sofa, one hand firmly supporting my arm as if I had been badly injured from my conversation with Samantha. I didn’t resist. I let him guide me until we were both seated. His eyes swept over me again—my face, my arms, every inch he could see—like he was memorizing, or checking for damage that only he had the right to notice.I laughed softly, cupping his face between my hands and squeezing his cheeks.“Why are you laughing, Gaea? What if she hurt your head and—” He stopped when I shot him an annoyed look. He raised both hands in surrender. “Are you hungry? Have you eaten?”I shook my head, pressing a hand to my stomach as if on cue. Hunger suddenly made itself known.“I brought fried chicken from Jollibee, but it’s still in my car. I rushed up here,” he said. “Wait for me. I’ll go get it.”He was about to stand when I grabbed his arm.He looked at me, confused.“I’m coming with you, Cly,” I said with a smile as I stood up.He paused for a second before n

*Gaea*Russu dropped me off at the same convenience store where he picked me up earlier. As soon as his car disappeared from sight, I started walking back to Clyden’s condo. It was almost eight in the evening. But I had a feeling… he still wasn’t home.I was even humming to myself while unlocking the door—an idea for a new scene had finally come to me. For once, something felt right.Until I opened the door. And saw him.Clyden stood there, brows furrowed, eyes dark.Waiting.“Where did you go?” he asked, his voice low and controlled as his gaze slowly scanned what I was wearing. My throat went dry.My heartbeat quickened under the weight of his stare.“I went out to find inspiration,” I answered, trying to sound casual.I was about to walk past him—but suddenly, his hand gripped my shoulder, pushing me back against the door.I gasped softly.“What’s your problem, Clyden?!” I snapped, forcing myself to meet his eyes.“Which man did you run to this time for ‘inspiration’?” he asked col

*Gaea*I spent the whole day just staring at my laptop. Whenever my back started to hurt, I switched to my phone so I could lie down on the bed while writing.I glanced at the big wall clock when my phone rang. It was already five in the afternoon, so I immediately got up and went to the kitchen. Clyden gets off at seven, so I decided to prepare the ingredients first and cook around six so the food would still be warm.I went back to writing so I wouldn’t waste time. I managed to finish one chapter before the alarm for six p.m. rang. I left my writing for a while and returned to the kitchen to cook. When I was done, I went back to what I was doing. Even while writing, I still felt bored. I grabbed my phone from the table when it rang.“Ma, why did you call?” I asked as soon as I answered. I heard laughter on the other line, so I figured they were joking around again. “What are you doing there? Is there an occasion?”“Oh, nothing. Your father just said he misses you,” she replied. I sm

    • Gaea •By the time we arrived at Clyden’s condo unit, my whole body felt exhausted. It was ridiculous, honestly. All I did was sit most of the time—and occasionally argue with that man.I was hungry too, but I had no intention of getting up to cook. Maybe it was because of talking to Clyden’s friends earlier. I didn’t socialize often, and just that short interaction had already drained me. That was one of the reasons I became a writer in the first place—sometimes, I was too shy… or simply too lazy to deal with people.“Gaea, what are you doing lying there on the sofa?” he asked.I was sprawled out, my legs resting on the backrest.“Go change. Once you’re done, we’ll eat.”“Are you just going to order food?” I asked, hopeful.I immediately jumped up and headed toward my room to change, but before going in, I peeked back at him.“Make it something delicious, Clyden!” I called out.He just shook his head before standing and grabbing his phone.I went straight to the closet, grabbed a r

    • Gaea •I was just about to finish the second chapter I’d been working on when Clyden walked over to me. He still had that irritating smirk on his face—the same one from earlier. If I could’ve scolded him properly, I would have done it already.“Do you need something?” I asked, frowning. He placed both hands on my desk and leaned slightly closer, locking eyes with me.“I don’t want to waste my time, Mr. Lee, so if you—”“Would you mind if I invite you to lunch?”I blinked, then instinctively glanced at my watch. I hadn’t even noticed the time.“So?” he pressed. My stomach was already growling, but I wanted to finish my chapter first. If I stopped midway, there was a high chance I’d forget what was supposed to happen next. That always happened to me.“You can go ahead, Clyden. I still have work to—”Before I could finish, he suddenly dropped into the chair across from me like a sulking child.I raised an eyebrow.“What are you doing?” I asked, confused. “There’s nothing wrong with wha
