Cheating? My eyes widened in disbelief at his words. I never expected that the person Cybell knew… would be Russu. “I—I just need to talk to him,” I stammered, unable to hide the nervousness in my voice—especially under the weight of Clyden’s piercing gaze. “Wait for me.” I was about to walk toward Russu when Clyden suddenly placed his hand on top of my head and pressed down, stopping me in place. I shot him an annoyed look. People inside the café were already staring at us. “What are you doing, Clyden?!” I snapped. He only smirked and leaned closer—too close—until his lips brushed lightly against my jaw, near my ear. I froze. “I hate it,” he murmured. My brows furrowed. “Hate what?” “I hate it when someone looks at my girl like they want to devour her.” A small gasp escaped me when he suddenly pulled me closer by the waist. “Because she’s mine,” he continued, his voice low and possessive. “Mine to look at… mine to touch… and mine to devour.” “I’m not yours, Clyden. Let go of me,” I said firmly, pushing against his chest. Truthfully… I used to see him as nothing more than a character. Someone I would have written into my stories. Someone I would have fallen for—because he was exactly my type. But last night, I realized something I couldn’t ignore. I wasn’t drawn to him just because he resembled my characters. I liked him. “Gaea.” We both turned at the sound of my name. Russu was already standing in front of us—I hadn’t even noticed him approach. “Cybell told me you needed something—” “What does she need from you when I’m right here?” Clyden cut in sharply. I immediately stepped forward and pinched his side. “Ms. Montessori,” he said through clenched teeth, shooting me a warning look. “You’re being rude,” I whispered. “He’s talking to me properly.” Then I glanced at him. “Can you wait outside, Clyden? I just need to talk to Russu.” The corner of his lips lifted slightly, though the tension in his eyes remained. He let out a deep breath, glanced between me and Russu… then finally walked out. I took Russu’s hand and led him back to his seat. “I’m sorry to bother you,” I said softly. “I didn’t know you were the one Cybell was referring to.” I couldn’t even look him in the eye. Back then… when we were still together, I never asked him for money. “I’ll go now. I’m really sorry for the trouble.” I was about to stand when he gently pulled my hand back and placed an envelope in it. My eyes widened. “I know you need it right now,” he said. I swallowed, about to refuse, but he tapped my shoulder lightly. “I’m still your friend, Gaea. And you’ll pay it back anyway.” I nodded slowly, slipping the envelope into my pocket. I did need it. And once I got paid, I’d return it immediately. “I should go now, Rus—” I stopped when he held my hand again. “What is it?” I asked softly. “Let me walk you out,” he said with a smile. I bit my lip, about to pull my hand away—but instead, he gently guided me outside. And then— We both stopped. Clyden. Standing right in front of us. Blocking the way. “What do you think you’re doing?” he asked, his brows drawn together as his gaze dropped to our intertwined hands. I tried to pull away, but Russu tightened his grip. “Russu,” I called softly. “Gaea Montessori,” Clyden said coldly, “you walk over here… or I carry you to the car.” My lips parted in shock. The car wasn’t even nearby. “One…” I tried to pull my hand free from Russu, but his grip was firm—unyielding. “And who are you to order her around?” Russu shot back. Their eyes locked—both filled with intensity. “She came here for me. I’ll be the one taking her home—” “I’m her boyfriend,” Clyden cut in, his voice sharp and final. “And let me make this clear—you have no business involving yourself with my girlfriend.” Before I could react, he stepped closer and leaned down. I thought he was going to carry me like he said— But instead, he simply stared at me. Too close. Dangerously close. “Ms. Montessori,” he said softly, smiling faintly, “shall we go home?” My fingers clenched the fabric of my clothes as I stared back at him. Somehow… his calmness made me even more nervous. Then suddenly— He wrapped his arms around me. Tightly. “I think you need to take this back,” he added. I pushed him away slightly, only to see— The envelope. In his hand. My eyes widened. “Were you a thief in your past life?!” I snapped, reaching for it. He only shrugged and ruffled my hair. “Clyden, give that back—” “Why go to someone else,” he said seriously, “when I can give you everything you need, Ms. Montessori?” I fell silent. Unable to meet his eyes. “Take this and leave,” he told Russu coldly. “I can provide for my girlfriend.” Before I could say anything— He lifted me. “Clyden! What are you doing?!” I protested, hitting his back as he carried me. People were staring. “You’re making a scene!” He ignored me completely until we reached his car. He placed me in the passenger seat and shut the door. I rolled my eyes in frustration, glaring at him when he got inside. “You’re acting like some possessive boyfriend—and I hate it—” My words were cut off when he suddenly leaned over, trapping me between the seat and his body. “What are you doing?” I asked, my voice unsteady. He didn’t answer. Instead, he kissed me. Quick. Sharp. And then he pulled away. “I wouldn’t act like this if he wasn’t your ex-boyfriend,” he said firmly. I shook my head and lightly smacked his forehead. “You’re becoming a sadist, Ms. Montessori. Should I add another rule?” I raised a brow, crossing my arms. “What exactly do you do for a living?” He looked at me, confused by the sudden question. “Chief Executive Officer of Lee Empire. Problem?” I smirked and pinched his ear. “I thought you became a writer,” I said dryly. “You seem to know more about drama than I do.” He laughed sarcastically and pinched my cheek in return. I slapped his hand away, wincing slightly. He only smirked— and started driving.GaeaI opened my eyes when sunlight hit my face.My eyes widened, and I immediately sat up.I told myself I’d wake up early so I could leave.Damn it.Clyden was no longer beside me. I assumed he had already gone to work.Good.That made things easier.A small smile formed on my lips as I got up and headed to the bathroom. I quickly showered and changed, determined to leave as soon as possible. I could just call Russu later—maybe he could pick me up.I was even humming to myself as I stepped out of my room, surprisingly in a good mood despite the slight ache in my body.At least I finished my manuscript.I like Clyden… but I refuse to be part of something uncertain.I opened the door—And froze.Clyden was sitting on the sofa, a laptop in front of him.Working.Waiting.Watching.“Good morning,” he greeted with a smile. My lips twitched.Of course.Of course I wouldn’t be able to leave that easily.“What are you doing there? Come here,” he added casually.I blinked at him, still stunn
Gaea I hurriedly cleaned the dining table, mostly to avoid the way he was looking at me. I didn’t understand why he seemed so irritated. He was the one who brought another woman into his condo. And if his problem was Russu—then what about it? We barely even talked. He just called to check on me. I didn’t even agree to let him pick me up tomorrow, even if I wanted to. I didn’t want to give him hope that we could get back together. “Miss Cassandra, I’ll head to my room first,” I said politely. “I still have something important to finish so I can submit it tomorrow.” She nodded warmly and said her goodbyes. I didn’t wait for Clyden to say anything. I went straight to my room and called Samantha. She answered on the third ring, and I finally let out a breath. “Are you at the apartment, Sam?” I asked. I was thinking of leaving early tomorrow anyway. “I’m at my dad’s house,” she replied. “But I’ll probably come back in two days.” I frowned slightly. She used to hate stayi
GaeaI was sitting on the couch, casually watching TV while munching on snacks—just the usual thing you do when you’re trying to relax.I didn’t have much to do anyway. I was giving my brain a break before diving into another writing session later.I lazily flipped through channels… until one caught my attention. The news.Something about it made me pause.I sat up straighter, my full attention drawn to the screen. Everything around me seemed to fade into silence. And then—It felt like a bucket of ice-cold water had been poured over me.The news was about Clyden… and his fiancée.For a moment, I couldn’t breathe. It was as if I had been dragged back to reality—violently, painfully.Everything that happened over the past few days…The sweet words. The gentle gestures. The kiss. All of it suddenly felt like nothing more than an illusion.A lie.But maybe… this was my fault too. After all, I was the one who chose to accept him. When the program ended, I immediately grabbed my phone and
GaeaAfter dinner, we returned to the amusement park, and before I knew it, we were already seated inside the Ferris wheel.During the first turn, I was terrified. My hands were cold, my grip tense—but as time passed, I slowly got used to it. Especially since Clyden was holding my hand the entire time.“It’s beautiful…” I whispered, unable to hide my amazement. The sky stretched endlessly above us, painted with scattered stars, while fireworks bloomed in bursts of color—gold, violet, crimson—each one reflecting in my eyes. It felt surreal. Peaceful.“I wish I could touch them,” I added softly, reaching my hand toward the sky. “But I can’t… they’re too far away.”“I guess you’re wrong, Miss Montessori.”I frowned slightly and turned to him. “What do you mean? Aren’t the stars really that far from us?”He smiled—slow, knowing—and leaned closer. My back instinctively pressed against the railing behind me.For a moment, I felt like a harmless prey… waiting for a predator who had already d
•Gaea•I woke up early… or rather, I never really slept. My mind kept replaying what Clyden did to me last night. It was just a simple “I like you,” but coming from someone like Clyden Lee… those words weren’t simple at all.I sat on the sofa, resting my elbows on my knees and my face in my hands.“Gaea, are you still asleep?”I ignored him, eyes still closed, trying to force myself into sleep even while sitting.“Why are you sleeping there? Aren’t you cold? Your body’s going to ache. You look like a monkey curled up like that, Gaea.”I almost stood up just to throw something at him.Mock everything—but not someone who didn’t get any sleep.I shot him a glare. He only laughed. Then he walked closer, gently lowering my knees before pulling me into a tight embrace.“Stay in your room and sleep, sleepyhead,” he murmured, his hand slowly stroking my hair.I closed my eyes.It felt… too comforting.Like he was lulling me to sleep on purpose.“Let’s go to your room.”I shook my head and hug
•Gaea•Clyden led me toward the sofa, one hand firmly supporting my arm as if I had been badly injured from my conversation with Samantha. I didn’t resist. I let him guide me until we were both seated. His eyes swept over me again—my face, my arms, every inch he could see—like he was memorizing, or checking for damage that only he had the right to notice.I laughed softly, cupping his face between my hands and squeezing his cheeks.“Why are you laughing, Gaea? What if she hurt your head and—” He stopped when I shot him an annoyed look. He raised both hands in surrender. “Are you hungry? Have you eaten?”I shook my head, pressing a hand to my stomach as if on cue. Hunger suddenly made itself known.“I brought fried chicken from Jollibee, but it’s still in my car. I rushed up here,” he said. “Wait for me. I’ll go get it.”He was about to stand when I grabbed his arm.He looked at me, confused.“I’m coming with you, Cly,” I said with a smile as I stood up.He paused for a second before n
