Rhea's Pov

“What?!” Alaric half yelled, half whispered, “You saw him?”

I shook my head no. “I didn't see his face, but I could hear his voice. There's no way I could be mistaken, Alaric, if that's what you're thinking. His voice is practically embedded in my head that he could be talking amongst a crowd of people and I would still recognise him. But his appearance, although it was shocking, wasn't the end of it. He told me to be careful of the people around me. He said something about taking care of people for me from under the shadows, I don't even fully understand what he means by this. However, what shook me the most was what he said last.” I paused, trying to steady my shaky voice.

I took a deep breath, clenching my fists from the sheer amount of confusion I felt. “He said that Neveah's identity was special, and that if anyone knew that she was with us, it would create a lot of problems.”

Alaric stared at me like the floor had just opened beneath his feet. His eyes widened, th

Rhea's Pov Laziel stepped into the center of the room, his still growing body stood quite tall at this moment and it was undeniable that he had grown into a strong teen who was now capable of doing whatever he wanted. "Look at him," Laziel pointed back at Monte. "And then look at me. If you do not stand behind his words, if you do not agree that a liar should pick your next head, then he has no power to stop me. He has no right to bar me from the succession. I am a son of this house, returned from the grave to find my father’s honor being sold for scrap. I am claiming my right to challenge for the seat. The power lies in your hands to also select a ruler. You are all kingmakers here and no one has ever been left out. So, everyone, make your choice. Monte, or me.” The clan members weren't looking at Monte anymore; they were looking at Laziel. "He's right," a voice called out from the back. It was one of the younger men, a man whose face was mapped with scars. "We were told t

Rhea's Pov Then, something shifted the moment that tear dropped to the ground. Laziel's vulnerability instantly vanished and his eyes snapped open, and when he stood up, he didn't look like a grieving son anymore. He turned around, his gaze moving rapidly through the room and the sobbing relatives until it landed directly on Monte, who was cowering near the doorway. "You used him," Laziel said. His voice wasn't loud, but it carried the kind of weight that made the ground tremble slightly. "You kept him in this place like you are refrigerating a piece of meat. You denied him a grave and you denied the clan their mourning. You turned his legacy into a freak show." Monte tried to speak, his lips wobbling. "I... I did it for the stability of the family! If people knew…” "You did it for yourself," Laziel hissed. He straightened his spine, his height filling the room. "The Patriarch is dead," Laziel announced, his voice booming through the suite and into the hallway beyond. "And w

Rhea's Pov "Get out of my way!" Laziel finished, his eyes flashing slightly. The silence that followed Laziel’s angry yell was deadly quiet. Even the wind seemed to stop at this very moment. Monte looked like he’d been turned to stone, his mouth hanging open, his eyes darting between the guards who had lowered their weapons and the nephew he had tried so hard to erase. Jeremy, meanwhile, looked like he was trying to physically shrink into the body of the car behind him. Beside me, I felt a shift in the air. Alaric’s hand, which had been resting possessively on my waist, slid down to catch my palm. He interlaced our fingers, he didn't say a word, but he didn't have to. He took a long, deliberate step forward, positioning us directly behind Laziel’s left shoulder. It was a silent, lethal declaration of war. By standing there, Alaric wasn’t just a witness; he was the muscle. He was telling every person in this courtyard that if they touched Laziel, they were declaring war on the Va

Immediately Alaric said those words, it was as if the air had gone cold. Beside me, I heard Laziel’s breath stop completely. He went so still he looked like a statue carved from ice, his gaze fixed on Alaric’s profile, then slowly, shifting to Monte.Monte’s reaction was immediate and damning. He didn't scream and he didn’t even argue at first. His knees simply gave out for a fraction of a second before he caught himself against the side of a stone pillar. His face went a sickly pale and sweat had started to gather around his temples. "That’s... that’s a lie," Monte finally wheezed, but the words lacked any teeth. He looked around at the gathered clan members, his eyes wide and wild. "He’s an outsider! He’s trying to sow discord! Don't listen to him! Guards! Why aren't you moving? Arrest this man for slander!" But the guards didn't move. They were looking at Monte with a new kind of suspicion. The Giovanni clan was built on blood and loyalty, but it was also built on respect for

Rhea's Pov. Three ink-black SUVs tore through the gates as they skidded to a halt right behind our car. Then the doors opened and all eyes turned to stare at them. The first ones to come out were Nathan and Xander. They were both dressed in black, like bodyguard and although they were both handsome, the next person who came out actually made my heart almost stop. Alaric stepped out and he was dressed in all black, a custom-tailored silk shirt unbuttoned just enough to show the hollow of his throat, and trousers that made him look a mile tall. He moved with a predatory grace that made my heart do a clumsy somersault. Honestly, he was oozing sexiness. There was something about Alaric in "work mode" that made my knees feel like jelly. He didn't look at the mansion. He didn't look at Monte. His eyes, dark and intense, found me instantly. He walked straight over, his boots clicking rhythmically on the stone. Without a word, he wrapped a firm arm around my waist, pulling me so close I c

  • CEO Wants Me: Heiress Has Risen Again!   Chapter 462

Rhea's PovThe scared look on most of the men's faces almost made me laugh. Once again, I realised that Alaric's name was widely known and members from THE Giovanni family feared him even though the Giovanni's weren't what they once were due to the whole power shift. But what I didn't bother telling them was that Alaric was already on his way here in the first place. I had simply left the villa with Laziel and Marcus a little earlier to get a head start, knowing Alaric would be right behind us once he finished doing whatever he said he was doing. Watching Monte’s face was like watching a building slowly collapse in real-time. The arrogance drained out of him, replaced by a frantic, oily desperation. Suddenly, Monte’s entire character shifted. He stepped forward, his posture losing its stiffness, and forced a wide, toothy smile that didn't reach his cold eyes. He let out a dry, forced chuckle. "Ah, Mrs. Vale! Please, please, let’s not be hasty," Monte said, his voice now dripping wit
