Dwayne?!!

Dwayne's POV

"I'm very much prepared for you " she replied and my face contorted into a small frown.

Even as early as now I'm sure this girl will be a lot of trouble.

Now I'm more determined than ever to prove to her that I'm more than she is.

I let go of her hands forcefully , she picked up her bag .

"Thank you for this though" she said with a small smile raising the cheque before she finally walked away.

I heard my phone ring , "Mom" was written boldly on the screen.

" Good evening" I said immediately I answered the call.

"Dwayne, we need to talk," she replied immediately, ignoring my greetings.

"I'm still at work , I'll call you once I'm done".

"You're still at work?!, What the hell are you still doing there?" she asked.

"Work?!"

"I'll be waiting at your house we really need to talk"

"There's no need for you to go to my house"

"I'll come over to yours on my way home" I Said.

"I won't let you deceive me Dwayne, not anymore"

"You've made this same promise for the last two weeks and you haven't shown up"

"I'm coming to your house and that's final," she replied.

"If that's what you want " I said and ended the call.

I already know what she wants to talk about.

Either my love life or to force Diane on me , I already made it clear that I didn't want a person like Diane but apparently she doesn't just seem to understand.

She'd rather choose a silly promise with her friend over her son's happiness.

Most times I consider her selfish, probably the reason we really don't get along.

And definitely the reason for her constant argument with Dad.

Growing up we really didn't have a mother - son bond , she wasn't always there, she was always out doing her own things.

She was always fighting with dad whenever they're together, that's probably why she chose to not be around all the time.

About ten months later , she came back and said some things to dad, asked for forgiveness and of course he forgave her .

If that's what love does to people then I don't ever want to fall in love.

Now I'm all grown and she thinks she can just come from nowhere and mother me around?!.

She must be joking.

The door to my office opened and Xander walked in.

"You're still around?!" I asked 

"Of course," he replied and took his seat in front of me .

"So how did it go"

"She's really stubborn huhh!" I replied.

"Why did you choose her though"

"She doesn't seem like a weak girl"

"I'm sure she'll give you so much problem , since you guys are just one of a kind"

"She even seems more obstinate than you are" I said and I scoffed.

"We'll see about that" 

"Besides it'll make mom stop pestering me for a wife"

"Are you sure about that" he asked 

"Of course," I replied.

"Thank you for earlier, I couldn't have asked Lilian to do it"

"You're welcome," he replied.

"I should get going now" I said as I stood up from my seat,

"Apparently Mom is coming over today"

"No way," he replied with a small smile.

"Yes way" I said and began packing my things .

"You've avoided her for so long , I knew this was inevitable" he said and I sighed.

"Apparently!"

"You got married behind my back?"

"Dad is aware," I replied.

"And what the hell has that got to do with me?!"

"We're together in this country and I didn't hear about it "

"Your dad is one trillion miles away from here and he knows?!"

"What is wrong with you Dwayne" she yelled.

"Why are you upset huh" I snapped.

"No just tell me, why the hell are you upset"

"You were absent on all important days of my life, why the hell would I think you would want to be present for this one" I yelled.

She raised her hands immediately and slammed in on my cheeks.

"I'm your Mother" she growled

"Don't you dare yell at me , you ungrateful child" 

"Oh really?!, How then didn't I realize you are my mother"

"Oh wait !, I think I know," I said dramatically.

"Because you were never a mother to me!!" I yelled moving closer to her.

She sniffed as tears rolled down her face.

There she goes again!.

"Everything I did , I did to give you a better life," she said.

"I didn't want a better life, I wanted a mother!!" I snapped.

"Which you apparently couldn't give me"

"If only you'll let me explain " she said as she tried to hold my hands.

"I do not need any explanation ma"

"You did what you did because you didn't care"

"When you left you should have left with me"

"Do you know how hard It was for me to watch you and Dad fight every fucking time before you left us finally?!"

"If Dad was able to forgive you so easily, I'm sorry I can't do that!" I said.

"I'm not forcing you to forgive me son, I'm just asking for another chance"

"I've run out of chances to give Mom"

"Today was so stressful for me and I'm not going to do this with you"

"You should leave, " I said, picking up my bag.

"Are you asking me out of your house?!"

"You can stay then !" I said , picked up my bag and headed upstairs.

As I walked up the stairs I began to hyperventilate and feel dizzy, I tried my best to not breathe out so loudly.

I didn't want her to see me like this , I held on to the rails tightly as I took slow steps up the stairs , I felt blood streak down my nose.

"Dwayne are you okay?" I heard mom ask.

"Just leave please" I replied 

"Dwayne !!" was the last thing I heard before I fell and blacked out.
