Birthday Banquet

Throwing his office doors open and loosening his necktie, Nick entered the office with a frown on his face. Why should people make so much of fuss just for a stupid birthday. Can't they just leave me alone. 

Originally, Nick would bury himself in his work so that he could avoid having unnecessary conversations and confrontations with people on this most dreaded day. But nothing seems to work today. First he had a stupid girl ruining his mood with a dirty cake and then his grandmother has publicized everywhere that today is his birthday, now he has to deal with all those partners and executives wishing him.

He could only lash out on that girl to get it out of his system, but he can't really do anything about these guys. When he finally wanted to go home and rest, there is this stupid party. He can't let his grandmother lose her face, but that means he had to compromise. He knew it is her way of forcing things on him but he admired her for how she loved him all these years.

With all these conflicting thoughts he closed his eyes and tried to rest himself. By the time he opened his eyes, it was already evening and almost time for the party. He looked around and found that his employees were mostly gone.

He had a burning gaze in his eyes and he wanted to defy his grandmother. She wanted to find him a bride with this party, now he was determined to make that plan fail. With that he set out of his office and wanted to call for an escort when he suddenly saw that Mira was still in the office. He was already in a bad mood and seeing Mira like that he wanted to make her suffer for whatever she did in the morning. So he quickly went to her and pulled her up from the desk and dragged her with him.

Then he went to a boutique and got her dolled up. All the while Mira was to scared to ask him where they were going or what he was doing. Now he pushed her into his car and set off to the banquet. Once they reached the entrance, he warned Mira to not cause any trouble and go along with him.

By now, Mira understood that it would be better for her to shut her brain and just follow him to avoid trouble for herself. But coming as his plus one to his birthday banquet is not something she was prepared for. Keeping mum she nodded her head and followed him into the hall. As soon as the couple entered, everyone was stunned to see a beautiful girl holding Nick's hand. She looked timid, innocent and gave off a girl next door vibe.

Ryan, who came to the banquet early to make all the arrangements to see Mira enter the hall with Nick. What the hell happened in the office in these last few hours? How did Mira who vowed to make herself as sparse as possible around the CEO become his female partner? He was too shocked to move and greet the president.

Taking in all the surprised looks of men and deflated looks of women, Nick felt a little content. He felt that he achieved his purpose. He walked straight ahead to his grandmother and greeted her. The old lady hugged Nick and asked, "Nick, you didn't have to bring a partner to your birthday. You are the star of the day and your presence itself will bring joy to grandma. Happy birthday, dear!" With that she eyed Mira, who was looking at the floor pattern nervously. 

"Nick, There are so many accomplished women from elite families who are waiting to meet and greet you. Let's go around, I'll introduce you to them. Let's go."

"Grandma, if you missed, there is already a girl by my side. She is my girlfriend and I thought it is a good chance for me to introduce her to you."

Nick called for Mira, but hearing no response, he turned back and saw that she is standing there like an idiot with her mouth wide open. To bring her back to senses, he pulled her to his side by her waist and introduced her to his grandma.

"Grandma, this is Mira. She is my girlfriend and she is also my assistant at office. I like her a lot and I hope you would give us your blessing." With that Nick gave a slight peck on Mira's lips.
