12 Half truth

When Elaina reached home, she moved straight to her bedroom. Exploring her stuff, she picked up a jewellery box. She was crying while opening the package. She picked up the jewellery and removed the velvet stand. She pulled out some papers from it. These papers were quite old. They are like letters from someone.

Maybe, those letters were too crucial for Elaina. Seeing those letters, she cried hard. There was no one to console her. She remembered someone and smiled painfully, saying in a low tone, "If you were here, nothing would be like that."

She unfolded the letters and started reading the papers, sitting before the cupboard. Tears were flowing down her cheeks. Once she had done reading those letters, she wiped off her tears. Hugging those letters, she cried and smiled. She was confused about her own feelings.

After a long time, she placed those letters back under the box and covered them with her jewellery. Putting the box back in the locker, she locked the safe and the cupboard. She changed her clothes and put on something comfy. She needed to be calm now.

She ordered a coffee for her and sat on the sofa, which was on the balcony. She saw the cold atmosphere of the USA. The City is glowing with a different charm. When the maid came with a tray, there were two coffee mugs on the tray.

"I ordered for..."

Her words choked up as she saw Aaron standing at the door. The maid left the tray on the table and left the place immediately. Elaina swallowed hard, but she averted her gaze away from him. Aaron came close to her and silently sat beside her.

He picked up the coffee mugs and handed her one of them. Without hesitation, she accepted the coffee mug. Silently, they were enjoying the coffee. She checked the time, meanwhile. She was surprised to see Aaron at home after so many days.

"He touched you on your wrist," Aaron rudely said, looking at the sky. Neither his tone was calm nor he was quiet.

"So?" Elaina shouted.

"So what?" The voice raised more than the limit.

Aaron was silent like he didn't do anything wrong by punishing him. She was hurt, though she knew everything. She shouted at him, "You cut his hand from the wrist. How will he survive without a hand? Have you ever thought about the people whom you punish?"

"Don't lecture me. It was not over yet; he would suffer more. He touched my girl," Aaron growled, saying this.

"So what if I'm your girl?" Elaina shouted without focusing his words. Suddenly, she realised what he said. She stopped abruptly and stared at Aaron.

Aaron sharply matched his gaze with her and cleared himself, "I mean my wife."

Aaron casually shrugged it off and started to sip a coffee. Elaina angrily snapped, and her mood was too much off now. She ignored him and started drinking coffee. This was the first time they were sitting too close.

Elaina remembered the scene Jose was hung up on the roof by his legs. His head was down, and hir right hand was cut from the wrist. A bucket was placed below his head, and the blood dripping from his hand filled the pail.

Elaina closed her eyes and threw the mug on the floor with disgust. And anger. She swallowed hard and tried to get up from there. Aaron held her hand and made her sit again.

"I don't think it's new for you. Forget it," Aaron sighed and placed a mug back on the tray.

"I want to talk to you," Aaron became fierce. His aura became dark immensely.

"You know everything about me. What do you want to know?" Elaina was irritated now.

"Elaina Malhotra, an MBA student. Daughter of the Indian Mafia, or the only heir of Mr Malhotra. She engaged with Ishan Arora and forcefully married Aaron Black. Would you like to explain the journey of becoming Mrs Elaina Aaron Black?" Aaron's tone was cold, dangerous and heart-piercing. Elaina clenched her fingers rapidly.

She thought for a second and made an instant story. She recited her story, "Actually, I was engaged with Ishan; I don't love or even like him. When I was in college. I got to know about you. You can assume it was love at first sight. I started searching for you. Your interviews, your articles, your business activities, everything was searched by me. The way I collected your information, I feel more for you. My mother knows it."

After a pause, she said again, "When my father blackmailed me to marry Ishan, I escaped. The luck was in my favour; you came between my freedom and marriage. My father's goon already caught us. So, I lied about what thought I got in my brain."

"Now, it's my turn," Elaina interrupted before Aaron could ask anything.

"Why did you marry me?" Elaina asked in a low tone. She was scared of Aaron, but she had valid reasons for it. She forgot their argument, and her mind diverted to their discussion.

Aaron glared at her. This girl has put a full stop to their previous conversation. He never replies, and this stupid girl asks him to come and explain. She swallowed and looked away, but Aaron didn't bother to define her.

"It's a half-truth. Tell me, what is the reason behind this marriage?" Aaron rudely asked and stared at her. His intense sharp gaze was scanning her body. Her body gestures were suspecting; however, she successfully hid her fear and truth.

"Well, either trust me or not; it's up to you," Elaina shrugged as if she didn't care. She again asked him, "Why did you marry me? You are the most capable mafia. You can make those goons bow to you within a few minutes. Then why?"

Aaron expressed why he would tell her his point of view. Elaina got it, so she skipped the idea of asking him. The atmosphere became tense for a while. Elaina felt that she had become a culprit by asking him. She got up to end the conversation and strode a few steps but stopped as she heard Aaron's sigh.

"Because..." Aaron was about to say when Amelia and Elliot ran toward them. They came suddenly, so she didn't force Aaron to speak.

"Save me, Sis-in-law," Elliot held Amelia from the right side and drove her back downwards. Aiden came before her and tried to grab Amelia and Elliot. He was outraged. Elliot and Amelia ran around Elaina. They weren't aware of Aaron's presence nearby them.

"Wait, you will make me fall," Elaina tried to balance herself, but Amelia, Elliot and Aiden's movement around her was so rapid. She tried her best but lost her balance and was about to fall when a strong pair of arms caught her and saved her from falling.

As Aaron saved Elaina from falling, Amelia and Elliot fell on the floor with a loud thud. Amelia screamed in a high tone. Aiden held Elliot and Amelia, and he made them stand straight. Aiden twitched their hands to punish them, but soon, they realised someone's presence.

The trio whirled to see Elaina in Aaron's arms. They were lost, gawking into each other's eyes. Aiden, Amelia and Elliot looked at the couple, who was busy staring at each other. Amelia held Aiden and Elliot's hands and led them away from there.

They took slow steps and tried to move, but Aaron's gaze shifted to them, which was enough to make them freeze at their place.

"Who knows, you were here, bro?" Amelia thought while looking for mercy from Aaron.

"Sorry, brother. We were not meant to disturb you," Elliot wanted to say, but his words couldn't come out of his mouth. He looked at Aiden; he was also scared.

Aaron made Elaina stand on her feet and released her from his hold. He whirled to look at the trio standing in a queue. Aaron's sharp gaze bored them.

"Sorry, brother," Finally, Amelia apologized, but Aaron ignored her.

"Gonna die today," Elliot thought.
