It was a long journey to the Goda pack but Chanda was in an utmost state of bliss. She stuck her head out the window of the car, letting the fresh breeze wash over her face as she admired the dusty roads and beautiful mountain tops. They drove past lakes and fields while she imagined herself running out the car, heading straight for the fields, never having to think of going back to the Montana pack.
“Close that window, omega. Mia is going to catch an illness from all that dust.” Sera said, spoiling her daydream.
“Yes, my lady.” She responded.
The car came to a halt at the front of a checkpoint and they were approached by men dressed like guards. Sera held up a card and announced proudly, “I am Sera, Luna of The Montana pack and that’s my daughter, Mia. We are here for the Luna Ritual.”
“Who’s the red haired?” He asked pointing at Chanda.
“Oh, a nobody. Don’t mind her presence. She is my daughter’s personal servant.” Chanda sighed at the description, Sera sure knew how to make her feel worthless.
“You may pass.” He gave Sera back the card and signaled for the gate to be opened.
“You see why I said we shouldn’t have brought this servant. They almost didn’t let us in.” Sera complained.
“That’s because you didn’t say who she was when you were introducing us, Mother.” Mia tossed and turned in the car, obviously trying to get comfortable.
The car drove round a fountain and parked by the side of the tower where several cars where packed.
“Seems a lot of people drive fancy cars here.” Mia said.
“No, silly. Today is the welcoming party for all the Alpha daughters.” Sera said. “Seems we are not as early as I had hoped.”
“No wonder you made me dress up already.” Mia whispered.
They were ushered into a hall where it seemed the party was already in full swing.
Chanda was amazed by the amount of beautifully dressed ladies, walking around, making small talk, while their mothers stood by the corners, watching their daughters’ every move. This ritual made no sense to her. If Alphas wanted to show off their packs, why didn’t they bring their warriors instead of parading their daughters, she wondered.
“Quick, Mia. Mingle with the crowd and remember, smile. Chanda, take our bags to the room prepared for us.” Sera pushed Mia into the crowd.
To Chanda, it looked like a mother, feeding her child to the wolves to be eaten. She laughed at the irony of it and dragged the bags upstairs, in search of the room meant for Sera and Mia, hoping she would have a little bit of peace and quiet before Sera came back.

“Tell me again, why am I doing this?” Velkan asked, lying down on his bed.
“As the new Lycan King, you have to choose a bride. That’s how I married your father. Bless his heart. You really need to start paying more attention to tradition and rules.” His mother said.
“It’s just a pity show. I already know who I need to marry.”
“Don’t be cocky. Let’s go and welcome those Ladies, they came from all over for you.” She scolded.
Velkan smirked. The only person who would dare yell at him and still be standing was his mother. Any other person will be long gone before they even finished talking.
Ever since Ryder’s body had been examined and they found out he had cheated by using wolfbane but still lost, everyone was in fear of him, some even rumored that he dined with witches and that was why he hadn’t died.
He enjoyed every moment of it.
“Pledge my apologies to them for me, Mother. You can tell them I’m still recovering.”
“I will do no such thing.”
“I have no intention of mingling with fame hungry mothers and their daughters. So now as your king, I’m telling you to please, Go.” He said, sternly making sure his mother understood.
She walked out angrily while he went back to sleep.

Chanda’s wish for peace was squashed as Sera came into the room a few minutes later, looking quite drunk. “Go downstairs and make yourself useful in the party instead of sleeping here.” Sera had screamed at her.
So much for freedom, she thought as she served drinks in the party. She turned to go refill the drinks when she bumped into Mia who looked wide eyed and more cheerful than she had been earlier.
“My lady.” Chanda bowed.
“Ohh, Chanda. Today is the best day ever.” She squealed. Chanda had never seen Mia so happy before. “I finally get to leave my mother’s watchful gaze and live. Haaaa, I’m so happy.” Mia twirled around. “I knew coming here was the best idea of my life.”
A loud voice boomed from the stage and everyone suddenly turned quiet, facing the stage.
“Welcome all, to the Luna Ritual’s Welcoming party.” The Lycan king’s mother beamed at the crowd. “Let’s raise a toast to new beginnings.”
“Yes, new beginnings. Chanda, drink with me.” Mia said.
“Oh no, I can’t my lady.”
“Yes, you can. It’s an order.”
Well, if she puts it like that, Chanda thought, taking a sip of the drink. She could as well enjoy these few hours of freedom before her life goes back to normal.
Protect Fang. Save FangThose were the thoughts running in Chanda’s mind, and in order to save Fang, she needed to get to Velkan immediately. But as she stood, panting under the dim light, in front of the room’s door, with her hands hovering over the knob, her mind went blank. What exactly was she going to say to him?You have to marry your cheating fiancée or else, my friend Fang will die. Also, if you marry her, you will be putting a great power in the hands of a mad man, who happens to be your Gamma.“How did I get here?” Chanda leaned her forehead on the door, feeling defeated.“Is that you, Serafina?”Chanda turned her head sideways to see Velkan standing at the end of the hallway.“Velkan.” She straightened herself and tried to dry the tears that had stained her face.“What happened?” Velkan rushed to her and wrapped her in his embrace. “Are you hurt? Why are you crying?” He asked, cleaning her tears with his thumb. Not waiting for her response, Velkan swept her up in his arms
“It was a very long and tedious plan, you know. One that took too many years to slowly execute, but my Aiden had always been a patient soul, just like our Father.” Snow explained. “That is one virtue I don’t share with them. I only wanted to find the Oro sword and attack Goda pack with it, but I trusted my younger brother, so I let him do what he wanted, believing we had all the time in the world. And everything was working, until we started bringing outsiders into our plan.” He turned to Chanda and smirked. “Do you know that most people are so unreliable and useless? Take our little princess Mia, for example. She is the definition of beauty with no brains.” He laughed. “She is even worse than the dead omega.”Chanda gasped. Did he just call the woman she caught him kissing a few moments ago, stupid?“But you… you are risking having an affair with her.” Chanda asked. “Do you not love her? Or are you just trying to take another blow at Velkan?”“Love?” He scoffed. “Love doesn’t exist,
Never in her wildest dreams, had Chanda thought she would catch Snow and Mia, wrapped up in each other's arms.Snow was shirtless, while Mia had her dress zipped down to her waist while their lips were locked in a passionate kiss. They were so occupied that they didn’t even notice her standing there nor hear the noise the sword had made when it hit the floor.Out of pure disbelief, a low shriek escaped from Chanda’s lips, causing Snow and Mia to jolt apart, shock written all over their faces when they saw that they had been caught.“Serafina.” Snow said as he pulled on his shirt, while Mia turned away, trying to pull herself together.“What… what is…?” Chanda stuttered.“What are you doing here?” Snow marched up to her and forcefully grabbed her wrist.“I… I was ...” Chanda could not form the words as she stared up at his cold eyes, her mind too clouded to register the pain his fingernails were inflicting on her skin.Snow and Mia. Mia and Snow. How? Why? “You were following me, wer
“So, what were you and the Lycan doing by the cliff all night?” Mariam asked Chanda as they had lunch in the kitchen. “Nothing.” Chanda responded.“Kissing is also nothing?” Mariam teased, causing Chanda to choke on her cup of water.“Oh, easy there.” Mariam reached over to tap her on the back. “I was joking, you know.” “It wasn’t …” Chanda coughed. “Funny.” “Sorry.” Mariam murmured. “Just that you guys stayed out there for a very long time.”“You were waiting?” Chanda asked. “I didn’t see you when I walked in.”“I got bored, so I went to bed.” Mariam answered. “Besides, it was too dark to see anything.”“That is because there was nothing to see.” Chanda avoided Mariam’s eyes as she spokeA lot definitely happened last night between her and Velkan. The soft caresses. The lingering touches. The kisses. Chanda couldn’t begin to imagine how she would have explained all of that to Mariam. She was still having a hard time believing all that had happened last night, especially what Velk
This was the position meant for him. The position that was brutally stolen from him.Snow sat on Velkan’s throne in the empty royal room, daydreaming.Velkan had called for a meeting as soon as the sun had risen and, since he had been the first person to arrive, he had taken the liberty of testing out the throne he was going to claim as his.“So close.” He smiled to himself. As soon as that, Serafina gets him the Oro sword, taking over Goda and all the West region would be child’s play.He leaned onto the throne again to continue dwelling on his fantasies when he heard laughing from down the hall. Quickly, he jumped off and hurried to his designated position, which was standing beside the throne.A few seconds later, the laughter he had heard filled the room as Leia entered, accompanied by Mia and her mother.“Greetings, my queen.” Snow bowed to her.“Ever punctual, aren’t you Gamma Snow?” Leia patted him on the back. “You are doing well.”“I live solely for the Lycan and Goda Pack.”
“Are you sleeping?” Mariam’s soft whisper filled the room, waking Chanda up from the sleep she had unknowingly fallen into.“Yes.” She groggily responded, rubbing her eyes. “It’s dark already.” She said, looking out her window.“Yup. That is why I was able to come seek you out.” Mariam plopped on the bed and leaned into Chanda’s face. “You look better.” She said, pressing the back of her hand on Chanda’s forehead. “Temperature is normal too.”“Thank you, Doctor.” Chanda said sarcastically and pushed her hand away.“You are welcome, patient.” Mariam giggled, but then pouted instantly. “I was just worried about you. It’s been so hard to check up on you, since the Lycan has literally been hogging you to himself.”“He is not hogging me.” Chanda replied.“Don’t get all defensive, patient.” Mariam teased. “I actually think it is cute. The way he is being so gentle and caring towards you.”“Cute?” Chanda gaped at her. “You think the Lycan is cute?”“Yes.” Mariam responded.“Oh, for goodness’
