{Ciril’s POV}

For some strange reason, I understood why Princess Anne looked at me.

She communicated to me that this was the beginning of the challenge she had spoken to me about.

But what is the use of going through challenges when I was about to be killed now? What was the use of telling me I would go through challenges when I was about to be killed during the first one?

I looked away from her and stared ahead at the exit to the Throne room. Other than the warriors hauling me roughly away now, there was a crowd around me and they were yelling and demanding for my demise. And then there was the Hencher mistress, still crying and pleading that I be pardoned.

She wasn’t going to succeed in that venture— I knew this. But then I was grateful to her for trying.

I was grateful to her for always being there for me and caring for me— like a mother. If there was a chance for me to remember someone in the afterlife, she would be the only one I would remember. She and… Anika.

This is a really disheartening period, I know, but we’re getting somewhere. And I know Ciril has a lot of enemies, but she also has a few genuine friends too. — and a few is enough. See yA!

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 228 ~ Tears…

    {Ciril’s POV} Tears…Tears bathed my eyes… and this happened without my permission and out of my control. The moment I set foot inside the Palace and caught sight of the bloodied surroundings, my body started to react without my conscious supervision.I started to pour out tears and my fingers started to tremble to say the least. I had wanted to be optimistic and strong about our return since I had a cure— a solution that could help solve the problems created. But then my emotions had taken over and now, I was a weeping mess.— and you can’t blame me.The sight I caught was too bad…The Palace was gory, smelly, rotten, and everything else you would expect from a battleground graveyard. The Ferals who had been injured but alive at the time of my departure were dead now— most of them, and the surroundings reflected signs of intense suffering and brutality— signs that some Ferals had fought and eaten some other Ferals since there was no normal being they could hunt, kill, and eat. I

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 227 ~ Urgency To Return

    {Ciril’s POV} We ended up not stopping for the night.Yeah. That’s right. We journeyed all through the night until daybreak… and all this was for a reason. As my relief for Landon waking up and being healthy started to fade away since I knew he was okay now, my panic for my family started to grow.Anika, Princess Anita, Anne, Clord, and my mother were my family and I realized the urgency to return to them on time— now that I had a cure.Honestly, I had been stalling earlier— dreading to return to the Palace because I knew I wouldn’t be able to do anything helpful but break down in tears.. That had been the reason for my subconscious hesitancy, but now that there was a cure, our journey was hasty as ever.Sorry, Landon’s journey was hasty as ever. He was still the one carrying me so he had been the one who had done all the trekking and traveling, but then I had soothed his journey by being entertaining and sweet. You can tell he still had an amazing night from the look he had on his

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 226 ~ The Cure

    {Ciril’s POV} Why did Landon suddenly heal and wake up?Before the topic was unimportant because I had been more concerned about him being awake and hearty, but now that he was clearly healthy, I couldn’t help but think about it. What made London suddenly heal? “I don’t know.” Landon responded to my question. It was rhetorical but then he responded to it since I wasn’t saying anything further. “Is that what you’re still thinking about?” He asked me now when I still didn’t say anything. “It’s you, Ciril. Your presence cured me. That’s my belief and that should easily be yours too.” He told me now and this time, I responded.“No, Landon. We actually have to question this to know for certain.” I said, still in thought. I started to conjecture. “I bit you— In my outburst, I bit into your shoulder area while you had been growing unconscious and I shook you up, leading to me creating a messy wound.”I was narrating it as I was recalling it.“With that, I let go of your body and stood ba

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 225 ~ The Events Of The Heart

    {Ciril’s POV} I love you.I didn’t know when those words poured out of my mouth, but I couldn’t take them back now.But even more significantly, I didn’t want to take them back. Yeah. There was a feeling that wrapped around my chest, as if tightening my heart a little so that it beat faster than it normally would. This feeling came about when I said those three words, and it came with a crazy rush… but then it wasn’t an uncomfortable feeling. In fact, it was an exciting and relieving feeling— and this made it strange to me. Thus my heart was beating fast now but it was as if a weight had been lifted off of me. I didn’t quite understand the entire concept of what was happening to me… but one thing that I was sure about was that I wanted to say those three blissful words again.Saying them had made me feel blissful, and that bliss multiplied when I drove my gaze back to Landon’s face and caught the look he had on. He looked broken… but remade at the same time… He looked at me like

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 224 ~ I Don’t Hate You

    {Ciril’s POV} Landon was conscious.I had heard his low grunt and seen his eyelids twitch, and was very sure of it. “Landon?” I called his name hopefully now. Even though I had seen signs that he was conscious, I was still hopeful and wishful that he was actually conscious.‘Cause it was one thing to see signs and another for those signs to mean something tangible.I got no response with my first call so I called him again. “Landon?” I said again and this time, I also thought I wasn’t going to get a promising response, but just then, he shifted his head from one angle to the other. I tensed. And then I motioned to speak but then his following movements cut me off from that. I had forgotten my right hand on his right chest so now, he slowly and randomly placed his hand on my hand that was resting on his chest. With that, I was made aware of the contact, but I didn’t mind that now. What mattered to me was the fact that he was fully conscious, and I thought my relief couldn’t be more

  • CHOSEN   Chapter 223 ~ Warmth

    {Ciril’s POV} Color returned to Landon’s skin. I was watching it happen but I didn’t believe it or understand it.He was supposed to be bleeding out, losing blood and dying, but instead of doing that, his blood was circulating through his body. And it looked more red than black-stained. It looked healthy— like the infection had been terminated. He was still motionless as he lay in the blood pool and I slowly rose to my feet in my confusion and alarm.I spat out blood from my mouth now— his loose shoulder bone had torn the insides of my mouth earlier when I had been wildly biting him in my outburst, so I spat out the blood from the wound now. I was shaky and in that manner, I started pacing towards him, slowly and quietly. I fancied that he was looking more alive now but none of this still made sense to me so I was more horrified and hesitant than reassured. With my timid steps, I soon hovered before him and stared with a shaky breath as I took in the sight of him on the dusty grou
