The door burst open with a violent slam that echoed through the room like a shot. I stumbled back, my heart leaping to my throat as five or six men in dark clothes stormed in like a sudden storm. Their invasion was silent, coordinated and dangerous.

One of them, clearly their leader, stepped forward with a sick kind of calm. He smiled.

"Well, well," he said, eyes glinting with something that chilled me to my bones. "I’ve been very eager to meet you."

I froze.

What was happening?

Who were they?

Why were they here?

My breath caught in my chest. My pulse thundered in my ears.

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice trembling despite my effort to sound strong.

He ignored the question. "Is there anyone else in the house?"

I swallowed hard. "No. It’s just me."

His eyes didn’t move from mine, but he snapped his fingers. Two men split off immediately, heading down the hallway like shadows on a mission.

Please don’t find them. Please don’t find them.

Moments later, they returned, one of them nodding

ARIELLA.What the fuck was going on here? No, seriously. What the hell was going on?I sat frozen in that damn chair, watching this game of power unfold like I was some helpless spectator in a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from. Asher was angry...no, beyond angry. His fury was visible in the way his fists curled at his sides, in the way his jaw clenched, in the dark stillness of his body like a predator just before it strikes. And Alex? Alex was enjoying it.He was soaking in Asher’s rage like it was a warm bath, smirking, calm, arrogant, knowing exactly what he was doing and loving every second of it.But I wasn’t enjoying any of it. Because sitting here, surrounded by men with guns and pride and unchecked egos, I knew one thing for sure: my life was in danger. If a shootout happened, I wasn’t making it out of here. I wasn’t a fighter. I didn’t have a gun hidden under the table or strapped to my thigh. I didn’t know how to aim, let alone shoot. I was just… me.And looking around the r

ASHERI ground my teeth.“That was romantic, by the way,” he added with a smirk. “Who takes their mistress on a vacation like that? The pictures… you looked like a couple in love. Engaged. Married, even... Beautiful.”He laughed. I didn’t.“I cried a little,” he said, with that damn grin. “Not for my sister...nah, she made her bed. But for myself, because I realized you’d been lying to everyone.”He leaned closer, voice lower, more dangerous.“So, I kept digging. And guess what I found out? That this woman of yours... this Ariella was supposed to be dead. At least, that’s what the Italians believed. What you made them believe. Dead five years ago, right?”My chest felt like it was on fire.“But she didn’t die, did she?” Alex whispered. “You staged it. Right around the time your marriage to Dinara was finalized. People say you and Ariella were the ‘power couple’ until your father struck that little alliance with my family. She wouldn’t let go… so you killed her. Not literally, of cours

ASHER“I just find Ariella’s company to be so comforting. So riveting. She’s… an eye-opener. Charming. I get why you chose her. I do. I get why she’s your little mistress. But honestly, Asher… I think she could be so much better.”I froze. What the hell did that mean?I went silent for a beat. Then I spoke, my voice low and deadly.“I’m here. I don’t want to open fire. I don’t want anybody in that house hurt. So just tell your men to stand down. You and I.... we talk.” I could almost picture Alex's grin like he’d just won a game. “Of course! I have no problem with you, Asher. You and I are family, aren’t we? You’re married to my sister. I’m your brother-in-law. Why would I attack you?”“Come inside,” he added, “Let’s talk.”I hung up the call and parked the car, eyes locked on the front of the house. Luca was beside me, tense.“I don’t like this,” he muttered.“I’m doing this,” I said, already unbuckling my seatbelt. My voice was steel. Before I could open the door, he grabbed my ar

“I... I’m just visiting... well, I… I work here.” I stammered, trying to think of something.“You work here?”“Yes.”“Doing what, exactly?”“I... I clean,” I said, voice barely above a whisper.“You clean?” he echoed like it was the most unbelievable thing he’d ever heard.“Yes. It’s maintenance. It’s… it’s an empty apartment. All I do is clean. I make sure everything’s in order.”He tilted his head. “So you’re telling me there are guards outside guarding this place, and you, a cleaning lady, live here alone?”“I... I’m sure there are owners,” I stammered. “But I haven’t met them. I haven’t been here that long..... I think.”Alex laughed, clapping his hands once, amused. “Wow. You’re smart. Grew up in this world, huh? You’re quick on your feet too. I’m starting to like you more and more by the second.”I didn’t know whether that was a compliment or a threat. Probably both. But I also knew something with clarity: this was dangerous. Very dangerous. It was one thing to be caught in a ro

  • CLAIMED BY THE MAFIA DON   I'll Stay

When we left for Zanzibar, it was just for five days. This time, I had prepared myself.I told Maria I’d call every day. I promised to video call Leon, to check in. And Asher, he promised everything would be fine. That security would be tight. That nothing would go wrong. Just five days, he said. Just us.I was a little nervous, I had never been away from Leon for so long, but when we arrived… God, it was perfect. The island was alive with beauty, turquoise waters that seemed to hum, golden sunlight warming our skin. It felt like stepping out of our world into one that had waited just for us.Asher didn’t hold back. Not once.He held my hand openly as we strolled through the tourist streets, fingers laced like we were normal people with nothing to hide. His hand was always at the small of my back, gently guiding, never possessive. We laughed like we hadn't in years. We dined at beachside hotels, took pictures with strangers, swam in the sea, and dove beneath it.We even visited that h
