I was skimming through my emails when Andew came into my office wearing that smug look that screamed. I told you so.

"What is it?" I raised an eyebrow, cutting him off before he could bullshit me with whatever nonsense he'd rehearsed.

"It's Ms. Anderson," he said, crossing his arms. "She's not here yet. It's past nine. She was supposed to be in over an hour ago. First day, and she's already screwing it up. If this is how it starts, she's only going to slow us down. Honestly, I think we are better off without her."

I shut my laptop with a quiet snap.

I hated to admit that Andrew was right. She'd done nothing to prove she deserved the post, yet I gave it to her. And she was already messing it up?

"Find her," I said coldly. "And bring her to my office. Now."

"Yes, sir."

He left without another word while I burned with rage. Nobody gets special treatment in my company. Not under my nose, and she thinks she's going to be any different?
