Chapter 4

"Father in law! I missed you so much", Jayson hugged a white-haired middle-aged man right after entering the house.

The white-haired man too, hugged him back with happy tears, "Son in law I too missed you a lot"

Ellen standing at the other end of the room asked the woman who resembles her a lot except her hair is dark pink like that of Vivian, "It has been only a week since the last time you visited, so what's wrong with them"

The woman who maintained an aloof expression shook her head in defeat as they further heard the reunited pair's conversation, "Just let them be, I don't even know why I married such a man leaving everything I had behind."

Hearing them Ellen sighed herself, "same goes for me"

The woman widened her eyes hearing her daughter sigh, "you can't say that. Your life has just begun"

Ellen in a flick of a sec changed her tone and sprinted into her room, "I'm just kidding mom, wait for me I will get refreshed. Then we can go out somewhere nice"

Listening to their conversation, the middle-aged white-haired man rubbed his white beard as he turned to the woman, "Olive, why don't we just stay home?"

Jason too nodded his head hearing the man.

The elegant woman, Olive - Olivia Heath mother of Ellen, shouted, "Rodney! you guys will just play some idiotic games, isn't that what your stupid stay home means. What is the fun for us?"

"Oh, poor Elle and me!"

Rodney Huber started to panic hearing that, "if you want to go out, just say so, why are you yelling. I almost went deaf"

The sarcasm made her facial muscle twitch, "Quit complaining and get ready"

Seeing her eyes shifting to himself, Jayson shouted to Rodney and rushed to the stairs, "Father in law I will be back in a minute"

Getting out of the car they entered a luxurious cuisine restaurant, which is almost buckled up with lots of people, with the eyes of a different species life than what Jayson has seen till now. And these eyes, are something he has seen more often in recent times. The look of aloof riches gazing everyone outside their world down.

Staring at the back of Ellen and Olivia walking before them, Jayson sighed, "once again a place like this, can't we go somewhere normal"

Both Ellen and Olivia shouted back at the same time, "This is normal for us"

Seeing this Rodney placed his hands on Jayson's shoulder, "Just let them be son-in-law, their blood is as such. It can't be changed and the likes of us can never understand them."

Jayson praised Rodney sarcastically, "you are such a great man, father-in-law. I can never appreciate your sacrifices. I mean, how you can maintain these two variants for twenty-three years"

Rodney too, responded funny, "it's twenty-five years and two months"

"You are so detailed as always", as Jayson praised him more, Rodney said, "Whatever, get ready for hell soon"

"Hell!", Jayson looked alarmed as Rodney continued, "Yes, I heard something about their family calling you guys for some party"

"Party is fun, right"

"That party won't be any fun", tapping his shoulder Rodney said hell again, "so you will be in a hell of a scolding and advice tonight."

Shifting his eyes to the table the mother and daughter duo is sitting Rodney, mumbled, "Son in law, if you want to live with peace of mind, it's important to sacrifice many things in life"

Jason felt chill, "I feel like I have seen this expression somewhere"

"Just your imagination."

"No! that's the face someone who lost the will to fight will make"

As they talked to themselves, Olivia becked Rodney, "What are you squabbling about, Come here"

"Yes, mam", seeing the brave father-in-law rush like a pet Jayson tipped himself, "Damn, he is such a coward. I shouldn't let him influence me"

"what are you doing? ", Ellen shouted to Jayson.

"I'm coming", taking two steps forward, Jayson things were too late, 'Shit, I'm already influenced'

Sitting down, everyone ordered their food from the waiter, however Olvia blade in on Rodney's orders, "This won't do. You already have high pressure so cancel it."

Turning to the waiter, Olivia ordered something that befits her taste. It was completely different from the ones Rodney Huber ordered.

Jayson looked at the silent Rodney, his father in law who is void of all expression on his face.

'His life is more down than I thought. However, he is the only one who can help me, thinking that he eyed Rodney.

Understanding the signal, Rodney began a random topic so that his wife won't start her class at the dinner table, "So son in law you were talking about some strange nightmare in the car, what's that?"

"It's like this father in law, I stand before a tall wall with lots of scribbles and a red pistol pointed at my head", as Jayson said red pistol, Ellen interrupted him from talking more, "Stop, talking gibberish and eat your food"

'Gibberish', getting shot down as gibberish, Jayson grinned, "And the things holding the gun isn't human but a huge serpent"

Unbeknownst Rodney said concerned, "Having a snake in the dream isn't a good thing. It might be bad karma"

Jayson smiled at Ellen, "And the snake has the same rosy hair on the head like..."

Ahhh...

Instead of finishing what he was about to say, he yelled suddenly startling the two before him.

"What happend son in law"

"Nothing much"

Ellen leaned closer to him and asked, "What about rosy hair?"

"Don't know! I forgot!", as he said that she moved back and so does her leg under the table.

As Rodney was gonna ask something else, Olivia talked, "Can we talk some serious stuff and not your gossip"

"Okay!"

One hour of dinner felt like an eternity to Jayson as they walked out of the restaurant.

Just when he thought it's time to bid farewell, Olivia asked him again, "Do you remember everything I said"

"Yes, mother in law and I will follow through every word you said", talking like battalion soldiers, Jayson sighed, 'Well, the only things you talked for an hour is to be respectful to your parents'

Ellen asked her mother,

"So you guys won't be coming for Grandma's party"

Olivia snickered, "I won't, they didn't invite me directly. They just send the word through you, so I can't"

Seeing his daughter worry, Rodney asserted with a smile, "Don't think too much. Everything will be a fine and good night"

"Good night mom, dad. Bye"

Bidding farewell they walked to their car, and Ellen started to talk,

"You act all goody before my parents, unlike how you act before me"

He replied casually, "Hey, I was taught to respect elders, not like you"

"Like me, when was I disrespectful to Elder"

"You are, to me of course. Why would you stomp my leg so hard, with that damn heels? It still feels numb"

"You are only a month older than me and that's because of what you told I was a snake"

"That was my dream"

"I don't care", as they got into the car Ellen asked at the silent Jayson, "it looked like you didn't eat much under my mom's knowledge section, so how about going someplace to eat"

"Sounds good"

Looking at the two leaving in the car, Olvia braced Rodney's hands, "will they be alright, I can't see the affection between them"

"They are fine. Son in law is a good soul"

"That doesn't help our daughter to achieve her dream", as she worried more, Rodney comforted her, "she didn't get a rich investment from him, but she got his shoulder to lean on at the time of stumbling unbreakable barrier, so everything is gonna be good"
