Chapter 23 : The Real Cole

Taylor looked surprised and nervous. It looked like I might not like his answer.

"Taylor," I started again, "I'm not going to run away from Cole, and I'm not going to run away from you either." I knew Taylor was a good person, he seemed genuine and not evil, whatever he was, he was obviously very nice to me, so I thought there was no way he could be that bad.

"I'm a demon." That's when he finally said it, answering in one breath.

The words took a moment to register in my mind. I stood there in silence, half frozen. He looked at me intently, and I forced myself to speak.

"I... I didn't expect that," I said with a smile to hide my surprise.

"Why?" He asked in a confused tone and looked doubtful.

"You look really nice, you know," I said and he smiled shyly.

"But there are a lot of good and bad people, I guess." He smiled because the atmosphere was no longer as tense as before. "You're not going to turn around and kill me now, are you?" I asked him half jokingly.
