10: THE DEVIL'S ULTERIOR MOTIVE

PEBBLES' POV

September 6th, 2008

It had been five days—five long and exhausting days. I had not seen or heard from Chris since the incident that occurred in the girl's locker room. I was dreading what that devil boy was planning.

*knock* knock* knock*

I immediately knew who was at my door by the rhythm of the knocks. “Come in, Maxwell.”

His handsome face peered in from the narrow aisle, and he outstretched his arms to hug me. “Come here, you," he wrapped his huge limbs around me, lifting me off the ground as he squeezed me.

“You're squishing me," I mumbled. My face was pressed up against his chest, that was restricting my oxygen.

“Sorry Miss Pebbles," he chortled and lowered me back to the floor. “I am just happy to see you," his smile sparkled like a star.

“It is always a delight to see you, Maxwell.”

“Anyway, Sinister sent me to tell you he is waiting on you downstairs. He is taking you to dinner.” Maxwell's face was very stoic.

I hugged my belly and bellowed out the most unlady
