Zina, determined not to fall into the trap of shared misery, reached for the only weapon that had always worked for her, her sharp tongue.

"You cry like a widow in a Moon Goddess soap opera. Honestly, I expected more bite from you."

Zora wiped her cheeks with the back of her hand. "I thought you were supposed to comfort me."

"I wanted to," Zina snapped. "But you went and crowned yourself queen of self-pity. Now get yourself together and open that damn box again. We're not letting that dress sulk in the corner like it's at a funeral. Try it on."

Zora snorted, the faintest ghost of a smile tugging at her lips. "You're impossible."

"And you're dramatic," Zina said smugly. "Which means we’re perfect for each other. Let’s try the dress."

"I don’t need to try it. I’ll wear it tomorrow."

"What if it doesn’t fit?"

"He knows my size."

Zora hissed, "What more do you need? He knows everything about you and still wants you, and you’re here crying like you just got rejected on mating day."
