After leaving the hospital, I thought Liam would drive me straight back to the apartment, but instead the car headed toward the city center.

“Where are we going?” I asked softly, still gloomy, my chin resting on my hand.

“The mall,” he replied curtly.

I frowned. “The mall? For what? I’m not in the mood for shopping.”

“It’s not about shopping. You need a change of air. You’ve been too hard on yourself.”

I let out a long sigh, staring out the window. “I failed, Liam. No fresh air can erase that fact.”

The car stopped in the underground parking lot. We walked into the mall. The bright lights, the sound of people shopping, the aroma of food from the court, it all felt strange after days trapped in books, operating rooms, and exams.

I kept my head down, dragging my feet. Liam, on the other hand, walked tall, his hands in his pockets, his aura pulling attention wherever he went. Several women turned their heads toward him, but he ignored them. We stopped in front of a simple café. Liam pull

The next day, I put on my white coat again. An emptiness still lingered as I looked at the rows of chairs in the clerkship room. My classmates who once sat beside me had already moved on to the next rotation. I was still here. But I wasn’t completely alone. A few new faces entered, students from my university too, just beginning their surgical rotation. They introduced themselves politely. I tried to smile back, though my heart was still heavy. My thoughts, however, drifted to one person I hadn’t seen today. Ethan.Usually, I’d catch a glimpse of him in the corridors or meeting rooms. But since this morning, there had been no sign of him.Until I overheard a nurse whisper, “Resident Ethan’s been admitted. They say he fell ill.”My chest tightened. Without thinking, I hurried to the inpatient ward. When I opened the door, I saw him. Ethan lay pale on the bed, an IV in his arm. His eyes were half closed, but when he noticed me, they widened in surprise.“Sienna?”I moved closer, pulled

We left the photo studio with a small bag of printed pictures. I pressed one against my chest with a wide smile. The last photo the daring one still made my cheeks burn.“Look, Liam! You actually look adorable here. I could sell this to the other clerks, and they’d never believe it,” I teased, holding out the bunny-hat photo to him.His eyes sharpened instantly. “Don’t even think about it.”I quickly hid the photo behind my back. “Hehe, just kidding. This is for my private collection only.”We continued down the mall corridor. People turned to look every now and then, probably because Liam’s aura was impossible to hide, even in a simple shirt with shopping bags in his hand.I kept flipping through the photos. One showed me laughing freely while Liam just stared blankly at me. For some reason, that picture felt special.Suddenly, his hand reached for the photo bag. “Give it.”I gasped. “Hey, that’s mine!”He opened the bag and looked through each one. His face remained cold, but I noti

The day I’d been waiting for or more accurately, dreading finally arrived. The exam room was cold, with a long table where three senior surgeons sat: Dr. Adrian, his face firm and authoritative; Dr. Helena, with a thin smile that did nothing to hide the sharpness in her eyes; and lastly… Liam.I sat with the other clerkship students in rows of chairs. One by one, my friends went up. They answered questions with confidence. Some stumbled, but they always managed to get out from under the pressure with decent answers.I tried to absorb it all while taking mental notes. But when my name was called.“Cole, step forward.”Dr. Adrian’s voice made me freeze on the spot. I stood on trembling legs, walked to the front, and stood before them.Liam sat on the far right, his posture upright, his face blank. His eyes flicked to me now and then, but without expression. I couldn’t guess what he was thinking.“All right, let’s begin. State the indications for emergency surgery in abdominal trauma cas

The Next DayI had just finished my hospital porridge breakfast when the door knocked and then opened. Dr. Adrian entered in his crisp white coat, his face serious. I immediately straightened up, my heart pounding with anxiety.Of course, sooner or later, I knew I would be reprimanded.“You’re a medical student, not a child who can come and go from the hospital as you please. Do you realize what you did yesterday could have cost you your life?”“I’m sorry, Doctor.”“You’re currently doing your clerkship in the surgery rotation. That means your responsibility falls under my supervision. If you can’t follow the rules, the consequences are clear. Your grades could drop, and you might even have to repeat this rotation from the beginning.”Repeat? No, I couldn’t bear that.“I understand, Doctor. I promise I won’t do it again.”“Dr. Adrian, you’re being too harsh on her.”I turned quickly. Liam was standing beside the bed, his arms folded across his chest. His face was blank, but his gaze w

LIAMThe news came in the middle of a small meeting with the senior doctors. A nurse walked in, her face anxious.“Dr. Darkmane, Sienna Cole is in the ER.”I shot up so quickly the chair behind me nearly toppled over. My hand dragged harshly over my face, holding back the curses that almost slipped from my mouth.I had known from the start that bonding with a girl so much younger than me would always mean trouble. She wasn’t mature yet, still too naïve, still stubborn, but none of that changed the fact that she was my Luna, and every time she got hurt, it felt as though half of my soul was being torn apart.I strode quickly toward the ER. The smell of antiseptics, the tang of blood, the shouts of nurses and patients all mixed together. But I was searching only for one thing, my Luna. The moment the door swung open, I saw her.She was lying on a bed, her face pale, cold sweat dampening her temples. Her leg was tightly bandaged, an IV line fixed to her hand. The attending doctor glanced
