CHAPTER 5: THE ICY GAZE!

Emily’s POV:

“What the hell are you saying, Oliver?” I asked widening my eyes at him.

“I am serious, Em” Oliver said.

“What the hell?” Mel said.

“Yes. I heard it from the students” Oliver said.

“Was he only accused of the murder or did he actually do it?” I asked anxiously.

“He was accused and some proofs were also there. But still he got out of jail because he is a Bryce” Oliver said.

“Why did they let him out? He’s a murderer” I complained.

“Em… Please. Calm your nerves. Don’t do anything stupid again. Do not accuse him of anything” Melissa said.

“But Mel…” I started.

“Em, please. We are not even sure if he was the murderer. It’s just some accusations” Mel said.

I sighed. “What if he tries to hurt me, huh?” I said anxiously.

“Don’t worry. He will not do anything” Melissa said, placing her hand on my shoulder.

“I hope so” I said anxiously.

“I am sure. He fought with a guy. He won’t do anything with a girl” Melissa said confidently.

“He won’t, right?” Melissa wasn’t sure and asked Oliver.

“I hope so” Oliver said hesitantly. I gulped and looked at Melissa fearfully.

“Don’t worry” She said and hugged me.

As we moved apart, Oliver added, “It’s class time. Come on”

“I am going to skip class” I said timidly.

“Em… What are you saying?” Melissa said.

“Mel… I can’t face him. I am shit scared after hearing his past story” I said.

“Em… You can’t skip all the classes every day, right? You must face this” Mel said.

“Listen to me…” She turned me to her and added, “If you get a chance, just apologize to him. I am sure he will understand that it was a mistake and nothing else” Melissa said.

“Yeah… I think she is right” Oliver agreed.

“Yeah… Sounds right to me, too” I said and smiled. Melissa smiled back and we all left the room. We went running to our class, entered in and got seated. I didn’t find that rich guy or his friends anywhere in the class and wondered if they were going to come. I was happy and relieved after not finding them in my class. Mr. Martin came into the class and we greeted him.

“Hello students… it’s so good to see you all, again this year” Mr. Martin said and smiled.

“I heard what you guys did in the gymnasium, by the way” Mr. Martin said. Some of us laughed but kept quiet.

“You guys should welcome your freshers, wholeheartedly. You shouldn’t scare them off, guys” He said.

“Mr. Martin, its Lincoln Park’s tradition. We wanted to have some fun. Innocent fun” Ryan said and winked. We all laughed.

“Yeah… I know that very well” Mr. Martin smirked and said, nodding.

“I always support you guys but don’t push it too far. Be mature” He said. “Ryan… specially you” He added pointing towards Ryan while he nodded.

“Anyway… I must tell you one thing. This year is going to be tough for you guys. You must have good grades to get into prestigious colleges and for that you must work hard for your grades. You should keep aside all your parties and your so-called fun and focus on your studies. You can have as many parties as you want, once you get admissions in your desired and preferred colleges. Do you all understand me?” Mr. Martin said.

“Yes” We all said in unison.

“Of course…” I whispered hopefully.

“Now… I would like you all to meet them” Mr. Martin said. I, who was sitting peacefully on my chair before, got restless and gulped. Please, please don’t be them, don’t be them. I thought, closing my eyes tightly.

“We are excited to meet them, Mr. Martin” Giselle said shyly.

“Of course you are, Giselle” Mr. Martin said to which the whole class laughed except for me as I was tensed up a bit.

“Anyway, I must introduce you to the four new but senior students who are transferred from one of the best schools of Houston, St. Peter’s High School to here in Lincoln Park to complete their final year” Mr. Martin’s words kicked me in the guts as I closed my eyes and sighed.

“Oh no…” I whispered and looked at Melissa who was sitting to my right. She looked back at me.

“Calm down” She murmured.

“Here comes those four students” Mr. Martin said and showed us the door from which the disaster came in walking. Those four all-in-black students walked into the classroom in a classy manner, looking debonair. I looked at them distressfully as Aiden gazed at me while walking to Mr. Martin.

“Let me introduce Aiden Bryce to you all. He is Kevin Bryce’s son and they are now one of the most influential families of our town. Also, he was one of the top students in St. Peter’s with remarkable grades” Mr. Martin said placing his hand on Aiden’s shoulders. I was amused by his academic information.

“And the other three also belong to highly upper class families. This is Dylan Cruz” Mr. Martin introduced the blonde one with sapphire blue eyes and porcelain white skin.

“And this is Lucas Raymond and Mason Cyrus” Mr. Martin introduced the other two. Lucas has brunette hair and ash white skin with ice blue eyes while Mason has curly caramel brown hair and rose white skin with hazel green eyes. They were all handsome and dapper, I admit.

“We welcome you guys here” Mr. Martin said.

“Of course we do” Ryan said and smiled.

“Thank you” Dylan said and smiled. The other two were also smiling while Aiden looked serious making me nervous.

“Get yourselves a seat” Mr. Martin said, smiling. They nodded and moved towards us to find them chairs. Dylan sat to my left and I looked at him. Just then someone banged a book on my desk. Having a jolt, I looked up to see none other than Aiden Bryce in front of me.

“Move” He said in a serious tone with an icy gaze. I looked at him with my widened eyes and opened mouth.

“Aren’t you listening?” He said bitterly.

“Wh – What?” I asked fearfully and gulped.

“Move and go back. I want to sit here” He said and I kept looking at him, startled…
