The feast that awaited them was nothing like they had expected, the table was set with all types of food, some of which none of the three women had ever seen. It looked like a feast for at least ten people, not the small meal Caleb had made it sound like.
The hall in which they ate was large, like the rest of the house and indeed the entire compound, it obviously served more than just one purpose as it could easily be converted to a grand hall once the furniture was moved. The table was a medium sized one, though one could easily deduce such a house would have a much larger table at their disposal. It could contain eight people, but only six of them sat for dinner. Caleb was at the head of the table, Cassandra sat right next to him by his left, Kylie was next to her and Kennedy, next to Kylie. On Caleb’s right sat Rinaldi and Roy.
Kylie’s head was buried in her food, but her cutlery didn’t seem as interested in the
Kylie’s thoughts were going haywire, she didn’t know if she was to run back into the toilet and shut the door or run towards the direction she and Lydia had come from, screaming for help. She doubted either was a smart idea; the former because he looked like he wouldn’t have to exert much energy to bring the door down if he wished and the latter because she could bet he would have his hand over her mouth before the first decibel escaped her lungs. So rather than do any of the two options she had in mind, she remained frozen on the spot.He noticed her lack of further movement and smiled at her- or at least she thought that was what he was aiming for when he contorted his features, “I didn’t get to introduce myself properly, I’m Roy.” He spoke up, although his voice was still that rumbling baritone, it didn’t sound as harsh as it did when he had announced
While Trina was very much aware of the pressure on her neck, her brain had effectively shut down at his closeness. The first and last time they were this close had led to her discovering what he truly was to her and had literally caused chills to run down her spine. He never realized it of course because her mother had made sure to hide her scent with a lotion, even till this day she continued to use that lotion mostly because she was truly afraid of what would become of her if Alejandro ever found out who exactly she was.Unfortunately, the lotion while protecting her from him, never protected her from herself. It was something she had to live with, knowing who he was but being unable to act on this knowledge. So, she did her best to maintain a distance whenever he was around….then there was that damned, insistent wolf side of her trying to force its way out once it sensed his closeness.“I should snap you
Kennedy watched him incredulously as he swaggered his way back to where she was standing, “I want to stay a little longer.”“And I want to sleep.” She retorted.“So do I, but I can’t seem to do that alone.”What the hell did that even mean? And why was his insomnia any of her business?, “You can’t sleep alone, what are you? Five? You need mama to tuck you in and read you a bedtime story? Maybe I should get a glass of milk for you and leave the lights on just in case you get scared of the dark.” She teasedHe suddenly reached for her and pulled her into his hard body, eliciting a gasp from her throat, he leaned to her ear and whispered, “Or maybe I just need you in my bed.” Her eyes widened at his insinuation, even as her body hummed in anticipation for the sinful pleasure such an offer presented. The m
“I’m guessing Caleb hasn’t told you about me then?” the woman asked, Cassandra’s puzzled expression gave her the answer she needed, she laughed, but it lacked any mirth to it, “I’m Gayle, the real Alpha bitch of this pack, the one who has been keeping Caleb’s bed warm before your wretched self came into this compound and the one who is going to drag you out of here by your hair once I cure Caleb of whatever spell you’ve cast on him.”The more Gayle spoke, the more Cassandra’s confusion melted into anger, something inside her snapped as soon as she heard that this woman had been sleeping with Caleb. Cassandra had never been one to feel jealous, hell, she avoided confrontations that were about men, but she felt a strong need to punch this woman in the face for even telling her she was anywhere near Caleb. The voice in her head was back again, Caleb had told her to stop fighting
His touch was far more delicate than his build suggested.Kylie watched Roy intently as he tended to her wound like a mother would tend to a child’s injury. She still couldn’t fathom why she wasn’t scared of the man, she had been brought into this house by a wolf, but the first person that walked in after the wolf’s exit was Roy. He hadn’t said a lot to her at his entrance and she had asked him nothing. Even now, as he wrapped her sprained ankle in a bandage, he was eerily quiet and she was conflicted as to whether she should question him about his double identity or wait on him to tell her what he felt she needed to know at his own timeThe only thing she could say for certain right now wa
“Here you go.”Caleb handed Cassandra a glass of warm water and she took it with shaky hands.“Thanks.” She murmured just before the glass touched her lips and she drank up the water to the last drop while he watched her. He took the cup from her and dropped it on the side table.“How do you feel?” he asked, it wasn’t the first time he had asked her the question, onceshe had woken up after changing, it was the first question he had asked her, this was her third glass of water in half an hour and every time he got her a glass, he asked the same question. He was worried about her, greatly so. Once again, she was unable to control her wolf or the transformation. He was yet to ask her what led to the emergence of her wolf and he figured that he would save such a question for later, for now, he was concerned about her strength and of course, these random transfor
“Cassandra.” Caleb called as he reached out and pried Cassandra’s hand off her cousin, he noticed Rinaldi was right next to his mate, but he had given his beta the sign to back down. He didn’t need this escalating, the only thing stopping Rinaldi from coming at Cassandra was his respect for him, “Cassie.” He called softly, he forced her gaze away from her obviously mortified cousin to him, “It’s okay.” He spoke to the wolfHer gaze remained on him briefly, she blinked a couple of times and he watched the amber glow fade away, “Caleb…” she turned her gaze towards Kennedy who had her wrist in her hand…damn it, she had lost control again, “Oh my goodness, Kennedy, I’m sorry.”Kennedy shook her head as she held her wrist, she could feel it aching badly, but that was the least of her problems. What did she care about her wrist whe
It was that bite. That was the only logical explanation for why she was acting this way. The minute he put his hands on her, all Kennedy could feel was heat….scorching heat that seemed to burn through every cell in her body and intensified the longer his hand stayed on her...and then he had kissed her and her sense flew out the window. She wanted him.She had wanted him since the day she found him standing at her porch in all his irresistible masculinity, she didn’t know if it was because of this mating pull or some other thing, but she had never felt this level of need for anyone else. It was something she didn’t seem to have control over. She watched his nostrils flare and his eyes flash an amber colour and immediately became aware of the wetness between her thighs, her breaths came harder just knowing what that meant. Did she want this? Agreed
