Even though she had come here unwillingly, and had been adamant about wanting to leave when they first got here, Kennedy had to admit that the Duncan Pack’s compound was a thing of beauty to witness.
She had been indoors for the most part of her stay, but her bedroom gave her a decent view of the area, and she was particularly enthralled with the sight of the garden. The girls had inherited the love of flowers from their mothers, who had trained them up with gardening. By the time she was a teenager, Kennedy grew great pride in knowing most types of plants. She lowered her gaze to the floor, in a bid to avoid the intensity of his eyes, but he wouldn’t let her look away. His hand moved underneath her chin and raised her head up to look right at him, “You understand?” he asked.Cassandra nodded in response. There was no hesitation on his part. Caleb’s hands shot out, and found her slim waist, wrapping around it to pull her even closer. The energy was different. It was in the tiny giggles, the abashed looks they shared, the longing in his eyes, the way she would bite her lips when she noticed him staring and look away…the change in her scent.
