Lisa was curled up on the bed, trying her best not to cry. She had been devastated by what Adrien said, and even Liv wasn't taking it lightly. Lisa had never felt so down in her life. It was officially the worst day of her life. She had never had so many bad things happen to her in one day.
She let out a shaky breath as she heard a knock on the door. She got up to answer it. Behind the door was a warrior.
"The alpha has asked me to escort you to the dining room." He said and moved back to give her space to step out.
What the hell did he want from her now?
She sighed and stepped out of the room, closing the door. She looked around the house as she followed the guard. The house was big and looked very luxurious. It seemed like it was Alpha Adrien's house. She followed him down the stairs to the big living room. The place was huge. The dining room was right by the living room.
Alpha Adrien was now in her view, so she looked away to avoid looking at him. He was seated at the head of the dining table. The guard bowed to him as they got to the dining room, and left. She stood there, fiddling with the tip of her blouse, waiting for him to say something.
"Sit down." He ordered.
She moved to sit in the chair that was on the exact opposite side of him, far away from him.
The food was brought in immediately and placed in front of them. Lisa did not have any appetite. Immediately the maids left, Alpha Adrien dug into his food. She watched him as he took a bit and looked up.
"So, Lila. Can you tell me a little more about yourself, like your parents and what pack you're from?" He asked her, hoping to start a conversation.
Lisa, first of all didn't want to give out too much information, because she wasn't really a good liar, so the more he lied, sooner or later he would pick up the fact that she was lying. Second of all, she didn't feel like talking to him. He had just put her in a very depressed state of mind, and now he wanted to have a conversation with her. She was never one for small talk, so she ignored him.
Lisa scoffed as she looked down and picked up her fork. She played with the food in her plate. She didn't want Adrien to see the sad look on her face. Adrien was quietly waiting for her answer, till he figured out that he was getting none.
"I'm talking to you." His voice thundered across the room. Scared by his sudden outburst, Lisa looked up, her eyes wide. The frown on his face was deep. He had never had anyone blatantly ignore him like that before. Being the alpha of a pack, he received utmost really from everyone.
"You answer me when I'm talking to you and look straight at me. Don't think that because I was kind to you, then you can treat me like a fool. You may be my mate, but I won't hesitate to put you in your place if you don't behave yourself. " His fist hit the table so hard that all the plates and cutlery shook and a cup fell to the ground.
Lisa didn't let his outburst affect her. "Well, you may be my mate, but that doesn't give you a right over me. You are not my alpha and besides, you didn't accept me, so you can't run your mouth about us being mates." Lisa scoffed and Adrien was silently listening to her.
"I don't feel like having a conversation with you, is that too hard for you to understand?"
"You will not speak to me in that manner. I am the alpha of the land on which you stand, and you will respect me whether you like it or not." He stood up, the chair screeching as he pushed it back with his legs.
"I have no reason to respect someone like you, Alpha Adrien." She emphasized his name with contempt in her voice.
"Who do you think you are?"
Lisa understood what he was trying to do. He was trying to assert his dominance over her, but she wasn't going to let that happen. She had enough of all the men she had met trying to downgrade her, put her under them and make decisions for her. Her father did it, the alpha of the Night Shadow pack did it, Collin did it. She had enough.
"It doesn't matter who I am. All that matters is…"
The sound of the dining table being thrown to the side interrupted her. Lisa's eyes went wide as she looked at the table on the ground with all the food and plates scattered on the floor.
She looked up at Alpha Adrien's face, and it was scary. His eyes had gone dark and he glared at her. His wolf seemed close to the surface. Her body started to shake. She was scared. The situation had gotten bad fast. Liv whimpered in her head.
Alpha Adrien shook his head. "I do not want a mate like you. You're disrespectful and do not know your place. I think it would be best for the both of us if we stayed apart."
He walked away without sparing her a second glance. She looked away from him and stared at the ground. This was not how she had expected this to go, neither was it how she ever expected having a conversation with her mate. He seemed like a dangerous man, and the mate she had spent years looking for and had sacrificed so much for didn't seem to even appreciate her.
As she left the dining room and went up the stairs back to her room, she made mental note to avoid him at all costs.
Lisa spent the entire day going around the pack house, asking questions about Adrien. She tried her best to avoid him, not wanting to risk bumping into him while she was trying to gather information. She asked everyone she came across, from the cooks in the kitchen to the cleaners sweeping the hallways. One of the workers she spoke with was a man named Jack, who had been working in the pack house for several years, as she was told. Lisa approached him as he was taking a break outside, enjoying the fresh air, and feeling the greatness of nature."Excuse me, Jack," Lisa said, smiling politely."I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about Adrien?"Jack raised an eyebrow, looking slightly suspicious. "Why do you want to know about him?""I just want to get to know him better," Lisa said, hoping her answer sounded convincing enough.Jack shrugged. "I don't know much about him, to be honest. He keeps to himself mostly. But I have heard rumors that he was a bit of a troublemaker
Lisa's heart was pounding in her chest as Adrien's rage erupted like a volcano.“I’ll just let you know what’s really up. You sure don’t know what I’m up to and what exactly you’re into.” Adrien said to himself silently in his head, making him give out a wicked grin. She tried to explain herself, but the words got stuck in her throat, as he yelled at her, his voice like thunder in the small room. She could feel the pressure building around her, suffocating her, making her feel small and helpless.“Not again.” She said to herself."Please, Adrien, just listen to me," Lisa pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper.“Listen? Well I’m listening. I’m ready to hear another one of your excuses. You’ve tried so hard to speak but you haven’t, I think you’re the one who’s hesitant. The lies you’re trying to process, how about them? Guess it’s not so easy when the confrontation comes this sooner than you had anticipated!” He rapped, not giving her a chance to even prover she wasn’t up to anythin
Lisa blinked, trying to clear her mind, but the throbbing in her head was too much to bear. Adrien's voice sounded distant, muffled, like he was shouting at her from the other end of a tunnel."Are you even listening to me?" he barked, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her up from the floor.“Huh? What’s going on again? What now?” She asked herself very silently but still unconsciously.Adrien sneered at her, his grip on her arm tightening."You think you can just ignore me like that? You think you're better than me?" he spat, his eyes flashing with anger.“You’ll never learn. Pain never gets to reach you any lesson. Experience never gets to make you wiser, not even by the slightest. You’re so annoying!” He lamented.Lisa's heart raced in her chest as she tried to pull away from him, but his grip was too strong."N-no, I don't think that," she stuttered, her voice barely above a whisper. She was just getting to know that it was her Adrien had been taking to after all these while.Ad
Lisa woke up that morning feeling anxious and unsure of what was going to happen. “Another miserable day in an endless life show of agony!” She soliloquized, which she gave out a huge sigh shortly after. The events of the previous day had left her feeling hopeless and trapped. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she was being held captive, and her mind was constantly racing with thoughts of escape, even though nothing tangible really came across as badly as she wanted it to.She was just sitting in her cell, wondering what the next moment would fetch her this time, and that was when the sound of the knock on the door jolted her out of her thoughts. She hesitated for a moment before getting up to answer it. “Yes?! Who’s there?” She asked with a loud and audible voice. She knew for a certain that if it was Adrien, he wouldn’t even have bothered to knock. “It’s just us.” Said the voice behind the door.“Who the fuck is ‘just us’? When does all these disgusting mind upsetting even
The silence on the table weighed heavily on Lisa as she picked at her food little by little, and wished to just stop already. her appetite was far gone, or most accurately… dead. It had been replaced by a gnawing feeling of unease. “Now, what next?” She asked herself in discomfort. She looked around the dining room, taking in the opulence of the furnishings, but it did little to ease her discomfort. She heaved a very heavy sigh and thought to herself…“What a drag. Every other thing looks so good but it’s still never so good. The pain never ends I guess.” After a while, Adrien stood up and left the room, leaving her alone with her thoughts. “I hope you comply. I’ll be leaving now. Don’t mess up, as I have warned earlier.” Said Adrien one more time, before he finally took his leave. Lisa watched him go, feeling a mix of confusion and disappointment. She had hoped for some answers, some sort of understanding of why she was subjected to such cruel and unfriendly boundaries, but Adr
Lisa sat in the cramped cage, her mind racing with fear and uncertainty. She had never been in such a situation before. Well she had, but it was just getting worse, and the thought of spending the night in this small, dark space was enough to make her break down in tears.Suddenly, the door to the cage opened and Adrien walked in, his expression cold and unfeeling. “Haha! Here she is.” He laughed to ridicule her..Lisa shrank back, knowing that he was the one who had put her in there. She looked up at Adrien, her eyes wide with fear and trepidation. She knew quite very well that there was no reasoning with him, and also that there was no way to make him see that what he was doing was absolutely wrong. All she could do was endure whatever punishment he had in store for her, for the mean time at least."What… what are you going to do to me?" she asked, her voice trembling.Adrien smiled coldly. "Oh, I have a few ideas, you shouldn’t mind though," he said. "But first, I want you to und
Lisa was terrified after Adrien's threats and couldn't stop shaking. She had been alone in her room, ruminating on different thoughts that rushed down into her memory. As she sat alone in her room, she just closed her eyes and muttered some words of positivity to herself…“I just hope he won't hurt me more than he usually does this time.” She prayed. She was referring to Adrien.Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and Lisa's heart started to race. She stood up gently, trying to convince herself that it wouldn’t be too bad to answer without hesitating for long, and then she opened the door. Two guards were standing there, waiting for her, standing as still as stones."Come with us, please," one of them said.“For what reason? Adrien placed me here and so only he has the right to call me out.” She protested.“You should already know we don’t carry out functions unless he has ordered!” He replied to her immediately.Lisa hesitated for a moment before nodding and finally, following t
Lisa groaned as she opened her eyes, the events of the previous night still fresh in her mind.“Oh… I’m not dead yet. Too bad.” She thought to herself, and sighed right after that. She felt sore all over and the restraints on her wrists and ankles had left marks on her skin. She looked around, and she saw a guard standing in front of her, his expression all so blank, he had just been waiting for her to come back from her slumber."Get up, right now. We don’t have too much time on our side," he ordered, his voice cold and unfeeling."The alpha has commanded that you get ready for breakfast." He continued.Lisa's heart sank. She didn't know what to expect from Adrien now, after what he had done to her the previous night. But she knew that she had no choice but to obey. She slowly sat up, wincing at the pain in her body.“I see you’re not blind. There are shackles in my hands… you can take them off if you don’t mind.” She said in utter frustration, trying her best not to sound rude as to
