Caught

Lisa spent the entire day going around the pack house, asking questions about Adrien. She tried her best to avoid him, not wanting to risk bumping into him while she was trying to gather information. She asked everyone she came across, from the cooks in the kitchen to the cleaners sweeping the hallways.

One of the workers she spoke with was a man named Jack, who had been working in the pack house for several years, as she was told. Lisa approached him as he was taking a break outside, enjoying the fresh air, and feeling the greatness of nature.

"Excuse me, Jack," Lisa said, smiling politely.

"I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about Adrien?"

Jack raised an eyebrow, looking slightly suspicious. "Why do you want to know about him?"

"I just want to get to know him better," Lisa said, hoping her answer sounded convincing enough.

Jack shrugged. "I don't know much about him, to be honest. He keeps to himself mostly. But I have heard rumors that he was a bit of a troublemaker when he was younger."

"Really?" Lisa's interest was piqued. "What kind of trouble?"

"Oh, just your typical teenage stuff," Jack said with a chuckle.

"Fighting, causing mischief. But from what I've heard, he was always a bit... off. Probably because he didn’t really have a family to show him the proper way things should get going you know?… He never really fit in with the other kids."

Lisa's heart sank at the mention of Adrien being "off." She had been hoping to learn that there was more to him than met the eye, but it seemed like his reputation as a cold and distant alpha was well-founded.

Still, she pressed on, determined to learn as much as she could. She spent the rest of the day talking to other workers, hoping to piece together a better understanding of Adrien's past and personality.

By the time the day was almost over, Lisa was exhausted. She had gathered a few more tidbits of information, but overall, she felt like she was no closer to understanding Adrien than she had been before.

She walked down one of the hallways, and that was when she saw a group of werewolves whispering among themselves. They stopped talking as soon as they noticed Lisa, and she could feel their eyes following her as she passed by. She tried to ignore them and she just continued on her way.

Eventually, Lisa found herself outside the pack house, in a small garden. She sat down on a bench, trying to gather her thoughts. She couldn't help feeling frustrated. No one seemed to know anything about Adrien, and the more she searched, the more she felt like she was getting nowhere.

“I’ll just keep looking and searching and trying. I don’t think this will get clearer any soon.” She said to herself.

She was well-seated there, lost in thought, but thenshe heard footsteps approaching. She turned around to see one of Adrien's guards standing behind her.

"Lisa, Sir has requested to see you in his office," he said.

Lisa's heart skipped a beat.

“Not again! What’s it this time oh lovely Lord of mercy!” She exclaimed to herself. She knew she was just getting started with all of these but she was also already so tired that she couldn’t take it any longer.

She had been avoiding Adrien all day, and the thought of going to his office made her nervous.

She looked at the guard with a forced smile, hoping to give a good impression before she asked her question, but it seemed not to help as much as she had expected.

“Hey. Do you have any idea why he has called for me?” She asked gently.

The guard looked at her, he didn’t want to ignore her because of her kind approach so he simply shrugged to denote that he didn’t know anything about why she had been called.

Lisa stood up, her heart pounding in her chest, and she followed the guard back into the pack house. As they walked down the hallway, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was walking towards her own execution. The atmosphere was suffocating, every step heavier than the last. She could feel the weight of everyone's gaze on her, scrutinizing her every move.

They turned a corner, and Lisa caught sight of Adrien's office door. Suddenly, her knees buckled. She leaned against the wall for support, her breathing becoming shallow and rapid. It was as if the air around her had turned into a thick, palpable fog, making it hard to think or even move.

The guard looked at her with concern, but Lisa could barely register his presence. All she could focus on was the gnawing anxiety eating away at her insides. She had no idea why Adrien had called her to his office, but the thought of facing him again was almost too much to bear.

As they approached the door, Lisa's heart rate skyrocketed. She could hear the sound of her own pulse pounding in her ears, drowning out the sound of the guard's footsteps. The closer they got, the more she felt like she was walking towards her own doom.

When they finally arrived at Adrien's door, the guard left. She hesitated for a moment before knocking lightly.

Lisa paced nervously outside Adrien's office, trying to calm her racing heart. She couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had been growing inside her ever since Adrien had sent someone to call her. She was starting to remember the last time he got so mad at her and she never wanted to experience anything like that again, at least not this soon.

She waited and waited, but she couldn't help but wonder if Adrien had found out about her inquiries. She had tried her best to avoid him as she asked around, but it was possible that someone had told him. She cursed herself for not being more careful.

Just a  few seconds later, she heard his deep voice call out,

"Enter."

She slowly opened the door and stepped inside, taking in the sight of Adrien sitting behind his desk. He looked up at her and motioned for her to take a seat, but there was a coldness in his eyes that made Lisa feel uneasy.

Lisa felt her heart racing as she entered Adrien's office. The tense atmosphere was too uncomfortable for her being. Adrien's intense stare made her feel uneasy.

"Sit down," he said curtly, gesturing to the chair in front of him.

Lisa sat down, fidgeting nervously. Adrien leaned forward, his face twisted with anger.

"I know you've been asking about me," he said through gritted teeth.

Lisa's eyes widened in surprise. She had hoped to keep her inquiries a secret.

"I didn’t, I actually… How do you… know that?" she asked, her voice shaking uncontrollably out of immense trepidation.

"I have my sources," he said, his tone cold.

Lisa gulped, feeling a lump form in her throat.

"I'm sorry, I just wanted to know more about you," she said meekly.

Adrien's expression softened slightly, but his voice remained stern.

"If you wanted to know more about me, why didn't you just come to me?" he asked.

Lisa hesitated, unsure of how to answer. She knew Adrien's temper could be unpredictable.

"I... I didn't want to bother you," she stammered, avoiding his gaze.

Adrien leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing.

"So, you thought it was better to go around asking other people behind my back?" he said, his voice rising.

Lisa felt tears welling up in her eyes. She had never been good at confrontation.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you," she said softly.

Adrien scoffed, his anger boiling over.

"Sorry doesn't cut it. You should know better than to go behind my back like that," he snapped.

Lisa felt her heart sinking. She had hoped to make amends with Adrien, but it seemed like that was impossible.

"I just wanted to know more about you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Adrien's eyes burned with anger as he shook his head violently, a look of disgust etched on his face.

"You think you can just go around asking questions about me, like you have the right to know everything?" he growled, his voice low and menacing.

Lisa shrank back, feeling the intensity of his rage. The atmosphere around them was filled with tension, making it hard for her to even breathe.

"You have no idea what you're dealing with, girl. You have no clue the kind of power I hold, the kind of control I have over this pack, you think my people will ever sell me out to you or something? Is that what you think?!" Adrien asked, his voice rising with each word.

Lisa's heart pounded in her chest as she tried to come up with a response, but her mind was blank. She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes, unsure if she should cry or just disappear.
