Chapter Forty Two

Elena's POV

I felt myself floating in the air and opened my eyes to see Jake carrying me upstairs.

"What are you doing?" I asked with raised eyebrows.

"Taking you upstairs to the room so you can sleep on the bed," he said.

"Hmm," I shut my eyes.

He placed me on the bed and covered me with a comforter then he kissed my head. I was waiting for him to slip inside the comforter with me but I did not feel his weight on the bed.

I opened my eyes and saw him standing near the closet.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm going on a run for a while," he said pulling out his shorts and shirt.

My eyes popped open and I sat up on bed wide-awake.

"What time is it?"

"It's eight in the morning," he replied looking at me suspiciously.

I smiled and pretended to fall in sleep.

After he left, I got up and showered. I got changed into my clothes then went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

When I was halfway through making breakfast Jake entered looking confused.

"You're up. I thought you would be sleep."
