Chapter 4- Female Empowerment

Jade Smith's Point of View:

"Jade are you ready yet?" Christy shouted at me from across the hall.

"In a minute!" I shouted back taking one last look in the full-length mirror.

I was in my room getting ready for our night out. I looked at myself in the mirror turning from side to side. I looked quite beautiful and sexy if I should say so myself. I'm not really a fan of short clothing but at times like these, I can make an exception. I preferred to wear comfy clothes but I don't think Christy would be happy if I wore a sweatsuit and converse to the club. She would catch a fit if I did.

Stepping out of my room I walked down the stairs to come face to face with Christy. She was looking sexy in a maroon off-the-shoulder dress that stopped mid-thigh. The dress accentuated her curves and really stood out against her skin.

I was wearing a plaid shirt dress with a diamond choker around my neck and black booties with four-inch heels. I had on simple make-up with bold red lips. I let my hair loose in soft waves around my face. I don't often go to clubs so when I do I make sure that I look stunning.

"Oh my gosh J, you look hot!" Christy squealed inspecting my choice of outfit. I'm sure if I didn't look up to par she would tell me. She wouldn't lie to me about that. If I looked good I did and if I didn't she'd let me know.

"You look sexy," I squealed in return "now let us go before I change my mind"

"True let's go," she grabbed her purse and pulled me along with her out of the front door.

I followed behind her laughing at her efforts to stop me from changing my mind. We both got into the car and fastened our seat-belts. This trip to the club was for Christy so I opted to be the designated driver so that she could party her little heart out. I also got a taxi company on speed dial just in case I got drunk too.

What? Things happen

If the years I have been here having taught me anything it's that I can't be too careful and I should always keep my eyes open. My grandma always told me that you can be careless but you can never be too careful and I've grown up with that mentally especially after what happened with my ex but that's a topic for a different time.

"So how was work?" Christy asked looking out the window. I was expecting this question but I didn't want to answer it.

I didn't know what to say, I forget to tell her about the hot mystery guy. Oh crap! I wanted to tell her but I didn't want her to make a big deal about it.

What should I say?

Should I lie?

Who am I kidding, I can't lie to save my life.

I guess I will just have to suck it up and brace myself for all the questions that I'm pretty sure will follow. Christy was a curious person. I should've just kept my mouth shut but I just had to say something.

"W-well it was interesting"

"How so?" she asked turning to face me looking all curious.

"Hmm well there was this hot guy that just came into the restaurant and sat there... doing nothing but texting on his phone and looking around the place"

"That is interesting," she said dropping the issue there. No questions? No sexual remarks? The Lord must be shining down on me today.

Oh, thank the good Lord. I have no clue why just the thought of him makes me nervous but every time he crosses my mind, I don't know I just get flustered and nervous and confused. He was insanely attractive and I could still feel his eyes on me. My skin was tingling when I had to sit there and ignore his stare but boy did I want him.

I was brought back from my reverie when I heard mine and Christy's favorite song being played on the radio. I glanced over at Christy to find her already looking at me a big grin settled on her face. We listened to the intro rhythm and then we just started singing.

Ladies all across the world

Listen up, we're looking for recruits

If you're with me, let me see your hands

Stand up and salute

Get your killer heels, sneakers, pumps or lace up your boots

Representing all the women

Salute, salute!

It's who we are

We don't need no camouflage

It's the female federal

And we're taking off

If you're with me, women, let me hear you say

Ladies all across the world

Listen up, we're looking for recruits

If you're with me, let me see your hands

Stand up and salute

Get your killer heels, sneakers, pumps or lace up your boots

Representing all the women

Salute, salute!

Attention ! (Salute)

Attention ! (Salute)

Attention ! (Huh!)

Representing all the women

Salute, salute!

On the way to the club, we sang our hearts out to Little Mix's "Salute" an anthem for all women. Christy and I love this song because it empowers all women, whether young or old, black or white. We women needed to stand up for each other and show others that we are a force to be reckoned with.

As we were singing we received weird looks from persons who were also on the road driving. As I pulled up to the club I parked my car in the parking lot and then we both grabbed our purses and stepped out of the car, closing the door, securely setting the alarm.

"Are you ready for this?" Christy asked walking slightly ahead of me.

I sent a playful smirk her way "I was born ready"

With that, we made our way towards the club.
