Tears streamed down Hazel’s face as she looked at me with desperate, pleading eyes. "Carmen, we're sisters. Can't you just let this go? Please, I'm begging you to forgive me."

I reached out and ripped the mask from her face. Her skin was a mess of crisscrossing scars.
