5. Almost fight

Delilah slowly wakes up in the hospital room, the sterile smell of antiseptic filling her senses. Her body was in pain while her head was throbbing as confusion clouded her mind but she soon snapped out of it, she had to save her son!

"No...no… don't… don't... touch him… no… no...No!" Delilah sat up with a loud shriek but immediately bent over after feeling a killing pain on the stomach. She let out a small cry of pain as she clutched her stomach.

"Oh, you are awake!"

She jumped in a defensive mode and saw a nurse standing in front of her. But that doesn't mean she relaxed. She kept her guards up and looked at her with a deep frown.

"Who are you?! Where am I? What happened to me?" She asked in an intimidating tone. That was one of her tricks of defence.

Never come up as a softie in front of a new person.

"Please calm down and stop moving so much. You are going to open the wound." The nurse said in a soft tone, trying to calm her down.

"Wounds?!" Delilah exclaimed in shock.

Her eyes widened hearing her. She looked down and saw that she was wearing a short blouse. Her stomach was completely wrapped in white bandage which slowly started to turn red.

The wound opened already.

"Please sit down. You are making it worse." The nurse seemed to get irritated by her disobedience but she didn't care.

"You stop moving and keep standing there." Delilah snapped at her, making her stand still with widened eyes. "Now answer my questions. Where am I? What happened to me?" She asked with a deep frown, trying to remember what's going on. But it seems like that the most important thing didn't come to her mind yet.

"You are in a daze hence couldn't recognize your surroundings, Delilah. You are in Kevin's pack only. In his pack's hospital. You were attacked by a rogue while trying to save your son. And for some reason you are not healing fast like a werewolf should." The nurse explained quickly.

Among all the things she said, only one thing struck Delilah.

Attacked! She was attacked. No, her son was attacked but she came in between at the right time and got the hit. Her son! Her eyes widened and she looked around frantically.

"Wh...where is he…? Where is he?" She asked in desperation and utter worry.

"Where is who? Who are you looking for?" The nurse asked in confusion.

She suddenly remembered everything that happened. Her heart dropped thinking what might have happened to her son when she lost consciousness.

Did they capture her son? Did they hurt him? Is he okay? He must be so scared. He must be crying.

She couldn't stop her tears with all those bad thoughts. She got down from the bed in desperation and tried to get free from the attached devices when the nurse stopped her. She starts to trash around while crying to look for her son.

"Where is he? Take me to him. He needs me. Take me to him." Delilah cried out loud while giving a hard time to the nurse. She didn't care about her wounds which opened completely. Her bloods stained the whole hospital bed and her blue skirt which she was wearing.

"Delilah, please calm down. You still haven't recovered fully and your wounds opened up again. I have to clean it up. You can't go out and make the wound worse. As I already said, you are recovering slower than a normal werewolf." The nurse shouted at her while pressing a button which was on the table.

Delilah suddenly became silent hearing the nurse's last sentence. She was recovering slowly. She always used to recover in the blink of an eye. But it changed. It all changed almost four years ago. Now she doesn't recover fast but slower than ever, almost like a human. Even though she has her wolf and all other abilities. But her healing ability is not there anymore.

And she knew the reason very well. She knew that it's never going to change. She is never going to get the ability back. She remembered how this happened and it didn't do anything other than bringing her more pain.

So, she shrugged her head to come out of it and then remembered her son again. She looked at the nurse fiercely who was not letting her find her son. She lost her calm completely at that moment.

"My recovery can go to hell, where is my son?" Delilah demanded in a strong tone, making the nurse take a step back in intimidation.

"He is okay. He's resting in a room downstairs. Let me bandage you and then you can go and check up on him." The nurse offered but she ignored her.

Her mind couldn't help but drift back to the harrowing kidnapping scene. Stephen, her ex-mate, was there. The memories stirred a mixture of emotions – anger, fear, and unresolved questions. Why had he appeared in the midst of it all?

But at that moment a distant noise reaches her ears, muffled voices carrying an air of urgency.

Delilah carefully slides out of the bed, not wanting to open the wound more than it already has, and slides towards the door. As she steps into the corridor, her ears catch a few bits and pieces of hushed conversations from nurses and doctors passing by, their expressions tense and concerned.

Curiosity is a second nature of mankind, so she decided to satisfy her curious heart and followed the sounds to the pack house's living area.

There, in a spacious room adorned with comfortable furniture, she finds a scene she hadn't expected.

Stephen, her ex mate, stands at the centre of a small gathering of senior council members, his usually composed demeanour disrupted by anger and frustration. And he was standing against…

Kevin?!

"The audacity of Kevin and his pack!" Stephen's voice is raised, his words biting with accusation. "I've received reports of their involvement in these shady dealings. It's a betrayal to the very principles that bind our community."

Delilah's heart sinks as her eyes fall upon Stephen's clenched fists and furrowed brow. Tension hangs thick in the air like an unspoken storm. Stephen stands tall, his jaw clenched, eyes fixed on Kevin who meets his gaze with a defiant glare. The room feels small as their confrontation escalates.

"You can't hide your deeds for long, Kevin," Stephen's voice is sharp, laced with anger. "Your actions have consequences."

Kevin's chest heaves with each breath, his fists balling at his sides. "Don't lecture me, Stephen. I'm doing what's necessary for my pack, nothing else to harm anyone."

"Necessary? Mingling with those rouges considered necessary? Are you fucking kidding me?" Stephen shouted in anger, shocking everyone. Even Kevin's eyes widened hearing him. But Stephen couldn't understand if it was out of fear or confusion.

"Don't talk without evidence, Stephen." Kevin growled in anger.

His words pushed the confrontation to another peak. The air grew thick with tension as Stephen and Kevin locked eyes, their expressions hardened with determination.

Stephen's fingers flexed at his sides, his knuckles turning white as he clenched his fists. His jaw was set, muscles in his neck so tense revealing the depth of his emotions, that even Delilah could see that from afar. Both of them had their claws out and were ready to make the place a bloody mess.

Just when the tension reaches its limit and they almost attack each other, Delilah stumbles in, her face a mask of shock and dismay. "Stop it! Both of you, stop!"

The urgency in Delilah's voice cuts through the chaos, causing Stephen and Kevin to freeze momentarily. But before they can fully disengage, a flailing movement results in Stephen's claw unintentionally striking Delilah's wound from a previous injury. Her eyes widened in pain as a sharp gasp escaped her lips.

"Delilah!" Kevin exclaims, rushing forward to steady her.

Stephen's face contorts in a mix of concern and guilt. "I... I didn't mean to..."

She winches in pain and snaps at him, "Will you ever stop hurting me?"

Nearby onlookers exchange uncomfortable glances, murmuring under their breath. They can't believe Delilah would dare speak to a powerful Alpha like Stephen in such a way.

Whispers ripple through the crowd as people discuss the situation, their disapproval palpable. "Did you hear how she talked to an Alpha?" one woman mutters, her eyes narrowed. "She's trying to play them against each other," another person chimes in, scepticism tainting their words. Unfounded accusations begin to swirl, casting doubt on Delilah's intentions and character.

In response to the mounting tension, Stephen's eyes flare with possessiveness as he steps closer to Delilah, his voice a commanding thunder. "That's enough," he declares, his growl silencing the crowd and shocking Kevin to the core.

"She's my mate, and I won't tolerate any disrespect towards her." His words hang in the air, a potent reminder of his dominance and authority as an Alpha.

The crowd falls into an uneasy hush, the weight of Stephen's proclamation sinking in. With deliberate steps, Stephen wraps a protective arm around Delilah's shoulders, his stance daring anyone to challenge his claim.

"I, Alpha of Crystal Moon Mystery pack, am going to take my destined MATE, Delilah, back to my pack."
