"If we move our guards to this border, Your Highness, the northern vampire territory will take it as a threat," General Marcus said, pointing at the large map laid out on the table. "They are already looking for an excuse to fight us."
General Vance shook his head, slamming his fist down. "We cannot leave our eastern borders open either! The witch coven in the south has been creeping closer to our lands. If we look weak, they will strike. We’re exposed and need to act fast"
"We need to stay focused," General Marcus argued, his voice rising. "The vampires have more dark magic and soldiers than the witches. Don’t forget , If war breaks out with the vampire king, our entire wolf kingdom will be in danger!"
“Are you saying, they are stronger than us?” General Vance asked with a frown
“This is not about our Ego Vance, think about the people “another General, Luke stated.
The generals kept shouting back and forth, their loud voices filling the room. As the crown prince of all werewolf packs, I was used to their endless fighting. But today, I couldn't concentrate. My phone buzzed against the dark wood table.
I glanced down and saw Doctor Rachel's name on the screen.
I raised my hand and flicked my wrist, signaling for them to leave. The generals stopped talking instantly. They gathered their maps, bowed deeply to me, and hurried out of the room.
"Hello, Doc," I commanded the second the heavy doors closed.
“Good afternoon Your Highness, Miss Ivy is doing much better physically," Rachel said over the speaker. "Her bruises are almost completely gone, and the baby's heartbeat is strong. But you need to tell her the truth. She is beginning to miss you. She doesn’t understand why, so I explained it, but she's hesitant because she is scared. If you are going to make this work, you need to talk to her…really talk to her."
"But won't telling her what happened affect her?" I asked, frowning as I leaned back in my chair.
"You don’t need to tell her everything," Rachel advised softly. "Just tell her the truth in a light way. She needs her Alpha, and it's only going to get worse as her pregnancy grows."
"Okay, I heard you, Doc."
"Good. I am going to help you, my Prince. I’m sending you a planned schedule of activities you both have to participate in to help with your bond. If you follow it strictly, I believe she will begin to trust you."
"Thank you, Doctor."
"You're welcome, sir."
I ended the call and rubbed my temples, feeling a little hopeful for the first time in weeks. My phone dinged with a message from Doctor Rachel containing the activity schedule she had planned.
Before I could open it, the door opened again. General Marcus stepped back inside.
"Forgive me, Prince Leo, but we forgot to mention the royal event at the end of the month," Marcus said. "The Leaders Apex Gathering which we host once a year, to bring the leaders of all the different packs together. We need your final approval."
"Approved," I said simply, standing up to leave, I turned to my Beta, Sam, whose been standing behind me silently.
"Let’s go” I said to him
We both left the palace and drove straight to an old, secret warehouse on the edge of town. Inside was a hidden basement where my elite assassins and spies were waiting for me. They answered only to me.
"What do we have?" I asked as I walked up to the table.
My Beta, Sam, stepped forward. "We are still tracking the black-market supply of Blood Rage. We made progress and shut down two street distributors, but we still can't link the potion to the main mastermind."
"Keep digging," I ordered, my jaw tight as anger flashed in my chest. "I want the person who is creating and spreading this vile poison."
"The royal event at the end of the month might be our best chance, Leo," Sam suggested. "Every powerful Alpha from every territory will be in that room. The main supplier behind Blood Rage will likely be there too."
"Good," I grunted. "We will be watching."
After the meeting, I got into my car and started driving back home to my secret mansion. As I drove through the quiet streets, I remembered that I hadn't gone through the activity schedule Doctor Rachel sent me earlier.
I reached for my phone, but before I could check the file, the screen lit up with an incoming call.
It was Celeste.
I sighed heavily and ignored the call, setting the phone aside. Seconds later, my phone dinged with a text message from her:
“Hello Leo, I’m coming back next month. Let's hang out when I get back.”
IVY’S POVThe quiet hum of the laptop fan was the only sound echoing through Leo’s spacious study. I sat comfortably on the soft leather sofa, the computer resting on my lap as I casually scrolled through the local news and wolf-community blogs, looking for any updates on high-society fashion for the upcoming Apex Gathering. Then, my finger froze over the trackpad.Right at the top of the trending entertainment page was a high-resolution photograph taken just hours ago inside the Royal Palace lobby. It showed Leo standing in his crisp black suit, looking impossibly broad and handsome, while a strikingly breathtaking woman stood close to him. She was laughing, her manicured hand resting intimately on his forearm, leaning into his space as if she belonged there. The glaring headline above the photo read:"High-Society Lovebirds Reunite? Lady Celeste and Crown Prince Leo Spotted Sharing an Intimate Moment Ahead of the Apex Gathering!"A sudden, sharp wave of heat flared deep in my chest.
LEO’S POVThe east sunroom was draped in golden afternoon light, filtering through sprawling floor-to-ceiling glass archways. Steam rose lazily from a delicate porcelain tea set resting on a glass table. My mother, Queen Eleanor, sat in a velvet high-backed chair, her spine straight as a blade, her silver-threaded hair pinned into a flawless royal crown braid."Sit, Leo," she commanded softly, not bothering to lift her eyes from the silk tapestry she was embroidering.I didn't sit. I stood near the archway, resting one hand inside my coat pocket, feeling the small, velvet box containing Ivy's sapphire pendant against my palm. "Sir Desmond said you summoned me, Mother. I have a long drive back to my estate."Queen Eleanor set down her needle and finally looked up. Her cold, sharp amber eyes, so similar to my own scanned my face, searching for any sign of tiredness."I received word from the High Council this morning," she began, her tone measured, every word calculated. "Alpha Marcus A
LEO’S POV"He has lost his damned mind," I growled, slamming my palm down onto the heavy mahogany desk. The mahogany rattled under the force of my Alpha aura, sending a tremble through the glass bottle resting on the tray beside me.Beta Sam and my Delta, Mark, stood across from me in the sunlit study, both holding rigid, defensive postures."What gives Marcus Ashworth the absolute guts to demand her return?" I continued, my voice dangerously low, vibrating with a dark, suffocating rage. "After what they did to her? If I didn’t arrive on time she may have died. He threw her away like trash, and now he dares to send a formal high-court summons demanding his 'rogue ward' back for pack questioning?""Leo, He’s playing a game," Sam said calmly, though his jaw was tightly set. "Marcus is a ruthless political snake. He knows pack law gives an Alpha leverage over unbonded pack members. He knows it is enough to stir up trouble in the High Council. He wants something.""Or someone is pulling h
LEO’S POV"I have a meeting at the high palace today, my love," I said, setting my teacup down on the small plate. "I will leave soon, and I probably will not be back until late tonight."Across the table, Ivy stopped eating. Her dark eyes grew big, and a tiny, cute pout formed on her soft lips. The sad look on her face filled my chest with warm love.I could not help but laugh softly. She was so sweet."Do not worry, I will come back as fast as I can," I promised, giving her a gentle look.I turned to the butler standing by the door. "Tell the driver to bring the car to the front right now.""Yes, Your Highness," the butler bowed and left quickly.I finished my food, wiped my mouth with a napkin, and stood up. Ivy watched me as I walked around the table. I leaned down, held her soft cheek, and kissed her sweet lips. She gasped softly against my mouth, her sweet scent of strawberries filling the air around me.I wanted so badly to cancel my meetings and stay with her, but I forced mys
IVY’S POV"One, two, three. One, two, three," Doctor Rachel counted, clapping her hands to the slow sound of the metronome on the table. "Keep your back straight, Ivy! Keep your head up and relax your shoulders!"Sweat was wet on the back of my neck as I tried not to trip over my long dress. My maid, Lucy, was playing the role of my dance partner, holding her hands out to pretend she was a big Alpha man. Every time I stepped forward, I accidentally stepped on Lucy’s toe."I am so sorry, Lucy!" I squeaked, stopping immediately and hiding my face in my hands."Oh, please do not worry, Lady Ivy!" Lucy laughed, smoothing down her apron. "My feet have seen much worse than your soft shoes, I promise."Doctor Rachel put down her paper board and walked over, handing me a cool, wet towel. "Take a deep breath, Ivy. Your whole body is stiff as a board. Royal dancing is not supposed to be a hard march. It should look easy, like you are floating across the floor on a cloud.""It does not feel like
IVY’S POVI didn’t know the movie I chose was this erotic.Leo was sitting a little distance away from me on the large living room couch. Since the movie started, he had not said a single word. I had read the quick synopsis earlier and picked what was supposed to be a funny action film, but I certainly didn't expect it to have any explicit scenes. I desperately hoped it wouldn't last long.I tried focusing on the screen, but I felt my face instantly heat up as I watched the male lead lift the female character into his arms and carry her aggressively toward the bed.I turned to look at Leo, only to find that he was already looking at me.My cheeks burned fiercely, and I quickly turned away, staring back at the screen. I gasped in shock as the male character began removing her clothes right there. This was getting so much worse.A low, deep chuckle echoed beside me."You didn’t know when you chose the movie, right?" Leo asked, his voice filled with amusement.I buried my face in my hand
