Chapter 59

It was getting late, and I had a long day on Saturday and a decision to make. Reluctantly, Brax agreed, and we headed outside. The cold night air prickled my skin, sending a welcome shiver through me. It wasn’t until that moment I realised how heady I was feeling. We had only had a couple of drinks and then it hit me; the feeling was from Brax. He was having more of an effect on me than I cared to admit.

I lived in the opposite direction to him, so he waited with me while a cab arrived to take me home. He paid the driver before I could get in. The notion was surprising, until that point, he had not offered anything like that. It brought a reminder of Logan to the forefront of my mind. I went to get into the cab when he stopped me and pulled me in for a deep kiss.

“Hmmm.” I hummed into the kiss.

“I’ve been wanting to do that all night.”

“Goodnight Brax.”

He pecked a gentle kiss on my cheek before letting me go. He had messaged me goodnight as I arrived home. We exchanged a few messages before I signed off for the night. My eyes were heavy and my head foggy.

On Saturday morning, I found myself still surprised by Brax and the way he was at the club. I couldn’t stop thinking about him. Nerves were building in me around my date with Logan, but part of me just wanted to see Brax again. I dragged myself for a shower hoping the water would clear my head; I was wrong. Maybe hoping the water would wash away my confusion was asking too much. I dragged myself from the shower and got dressed and dried my hair, before heading downstairs. I grabbed some breakfast and was finishing getting ready when there was a knock at the door.

“Logan. You're early.” I was surprised.

“Keeping you on your toes.” He smiled.

He was wearing more casual clothes than I was used to seeing him in. I grabbed my bag but before we left the house he brushed a soft kiss on my lips. It was enough to shake the thought of Brax from my mind so I could concentrate on this date. We drove out of town and into the next city. We pulled into a multistorey car park. Walking down the high street, Logans hand was in mine. His affection never went amiss. I craved his touch, and he didn’t disappoint me.

We walked for a few minutes before arriving at our destination. During the walk my mind wandered onto the decision that was waiting for me at the end of the day. It occurred to me how major this decision was going to be. By choosing Brax I would have to let go of Logan and fully move on once and for all from what happened and what we had. If I chose Logan though, there was so much more to it. He lived hundreds of miles away at Seastead. My job, friends, family, work, my life was all here at Redley. Choosing Logan would mean either having a long-distance relationship with him or one of us giving up our lives for the other. Could I really give everything up? Could I ask him to give everything up for me?
