Chapter 4: The Realisation

Kyra's POV 

For the past one week, I've been treated like garbage by Alpha Roderick in his Pack.

I wasn't allowed to go outside the mansion.

The only places I could move about freely were the dungeon and under the watchful eyes of the helpers and Roderick on other parts of the mansion.

The only people who sympathized with me or showed me any kind of love were the maids. They kept me company and talked with me when Alpha Roderick wasn't around.

Sarah was one of the maids. Although she was an Omega, she became my best friend and support at the Pack. 

When Roderick punished me again for not letting him sleep with me, he sent me to the dungeon again and ordered that no one should give me food. 

But Sarah went against his order. She secretly brought me food, which was more than I could ever wish for. Besides my late mother, she was the only person who ever cared for me. I'd probably have died of starvation if it weren't for her.

"I know the Alpha can be cruel and devilish. Just try to endure this, Luna. I'm here for you," she assured me, handing me the food she got.

It felt good knowing that someone cared about me. I no longer felt alone.

"Thank you, Sarah. You’re a good friend," I said in appreciation.

She just smiled, “There's nothing to thank me for. You're our Luna. My loyalty lies with you.”

After I was released from the dungeon, Roderick ordered that I be put in charge of cleaning his quarters. 

One morning, while I was cleaning the floors of the Alpha's large dining room, Sarah came to me.

"The Alpha has gone out for work. You can sit and rest for now," she said happily.

"He's not around?" I asked, sighing in relief at the news.

She took the mop from me, asked me to sit behind the dining table while she did the cleaning. Two other maids came to support her. The treatment made me feel like a queen.

"Relax, Luna. You shouldn't stress yourself," Sarah said with a smile on her face.

I smiled back, but I got scared as I watched the trio serve me breakfast in the dining room. 

"What if the guards see this and tell the Alpha? He'll punish you."

"No one will find out," Sarah assured me.

"We'll be on the lookout for anyone coming, and we'll handle the situation. Just eat," she said, patting me on the shoulder.

For the first time since I came to Devil Bay Pack, I ate at the Alpha's dining table.

The meal was so good that I scarfed it down within minutes. Sarah and the others laughed when they saw how much I ate.

I was thankful I'd made friends with Sarah. She kept me company all through the day, using the excuse of just wanting to watch over me. I got to know about the Pack from her. Most especially the servants. I found out who was mates with whom, who just joined the Pack, who was forced to work as a servant and the rest.

After the meal, we explored different parts of the mansion together.

Unfortunately, the Beta, Ray, caught us and demanded to know what I was doing outside the dungeon.

"Beta, I thought it was best for our Luna to take a stroll. Her feet were hurting from staying in one position for so long," Sarah lied.

 The Beta hummed at her before dropping his gaze to me.

His eyes were golden, but not as intense as Roderick's. I immediately lowered my gaze, not wanting to stir trouble.

"Hm. Since you are here, get her cleaned up," Ray ordered.

"Cleaned up?" Sarah asked, looking at me, and then at the Beta.

"The Alpha wants her in his room immediately. So, get her ready for him."

"He's back?" My eyes widened in shock.

Sarah bowed, and we left to get ready for the Alpha 

"You have to be strong, Luna. I know it's not easy," Sarah said, trying to comfort me.

She got me ready for Alpha Roderick, dressed me in a night robe, and took me to his bedroom.

Every step I took felt heavy as we walked towards his room. I tightened my fist to stop them from trembling. When we got to his door, Sarah turned to leave, but I held her back.

"Don't go," I pleaded, but we both knew she couldn't do anything. 

She gave me a comforting smile, patted my hand and left. 

I stared at the door for a full minute before opening it. The room was empty when I entered. I didn't know what to do, so I stood at a corner, thinking of how I could escape Roderick.

I couldn't continue like this.

I raised my head at the sound of a click, and Roderick walked in.

His gaze dropped to me, hovering around my body. I pulled my robe tighter as if it could shield me from his gaze. 

I watched as he took his shirt off and walked up to me.

I hated the lust in his eyes. I hated that he only saw me as a tool to satisfy his sexual desires. 

I would never let him touch me. 

He tried to grab my ass so he could pull me closer, and I snapped.

"No!" I yelled, slapping him across the face accidentally. 

I was shocked because I didn't expect to hit him.

Roderick's eyes turned to slits. He grabbed me by the neck and flung me on the bed. I tried to get up, but he pressed me down. I was scared that he would go full wolf on me.

Roderick suddenly got off me. He stood at the corner like he had seen something baffling.

"Why won't you give in?!"

“Why?!” He roared at me.

"Get out!" 

His behavior surprised me. He called a guard in and told him to take me back to the dungeon.

I was taken away like always, but this time, I was left with a realisation.

When the guard locked me up in the dungeon, I sat down on the floor, thinking about what I had just noticed.

"The Alpha...he hasn't forced himself on me since the day he brought me here," I noted.

"He's a powerful wolf feared by all. Surely it's no big deal to handle a powerless she-wolf like me. But he always backs out when I say no to him.” 

“Why?” I asked, baffled.
