FAITH

The guards around the dungeon had tripled, and none of them looked pleased with me as I entered since it was my fault that they were forced to be there.

With Juliana gone, the only thing we could do was increase our defense and hope that this would work.

Kaiden was standing against the back wall with his arms crossed, and I looked down to hide my smile as I remembered our conversation from an hour ago.

He had a ton of work to do, but he was here, and that meant the world. He said he wanted us to be a team, and he was proving it by showing up when he didn't have to.

“Back for more? You just can’t get enough, can you?” Sable asked as she sat on the floor with her legs crossed and her hands on her knees.

“Are you meditating?” I asked, knowing she hadn’t done that a single day in her life before now.

“Are you going to die alone, barren and pathetic?” Sable snapped back, and I rolled my eyes. She had hurt me with the insults about my fertility and my baby once, and I would not le

KAIDENMy mother fell backward as I jumped to my feet, the world spinning around me as I raced toward my mate. The crown was in her hand, and she spun, slamming it into the side of his head. Cain’s head snapped to the side for only a moment before he turned to glare at her. “It appears we were both wrong then, doesn’t it?” Cain growled, grabbing her arm that held the crown, and snapping her elbow. The sound made me see red, and as she screamed, I shifted into my fur. The crown fell to the ground, rolling away, and several people backed up even though they were not near it. I could feel the power pulsing from it and was prepared to risk it all to kill Cain before he could place it on his head.He laughed in victory, throwing his head back as he rejoiced in his win as the shadow of the Earth covered the moon. Cain reached for the crown, ready to claim his victory and title, only to pause as his face twisted in pain. The dagger he had been using to siphon magic was embedded in his c

FAITHI cried out, my eyes wide open as his claws extended, puncturing my neck. Everything hurt. My head, neck, chest, and leg. It took every ounce of strength I had to try to move, my hand reaching back to claw at his wrist and forearm, but he just tightened his grip.Everywhere I looked around me, people were fighting, and my heart sank when I noticed that even with our white wolves, we were severely outnumbered. Cain’s witches just kept coming. For every one that was taken down, two more appeared.Mila was focused on Kaiden as several of her pack members fought around her, protecting her. Her hands were over his chest, the dart missing as she tried to manipulate the water within him to save his life. Even Hale was trying to make an escape. Half of his face was covered in blood, and I could see a large chunk missing from his calf. He shouldn't even be able to walk right now, yet he was trying to save Jackson. He had his arms under Jackson’s armpits, dragging his body a few feet

FAITH“NO!” Cain growled at the same time that I shouted it. His was full of fury at Nova being taken underground, and mine was full of fear for Jackson.I moved forward, trying to move around Kaiden, but he sidestepped to block me. Surely, Joan wouldn’t kill her own sister, would she? While I was sure there were some unresolved feelings there, she was here to help us, not to fight against us. Besides, she had won as far as she was concerned, right? Her mother had chosen her over Kaiden and Nova. Mila had even turned her other two kids away when they came to her for help. Nova would be okay. She had to be. Otherwise, Mila would lose two children before this is over. I would make sure of it."Jackson!" I screamed as he fell to the ground. His cry of pain tugged at my heart, shattering it as he shifted back to his skin and began rolling around, trying to put the fire out."There is nothing you can do for him." Cain laughed, and I shook my head in disbelief. Kaiden had been blown up,

FAITH“He will never bow to you!” I screamed, kicking harder, trying to get the grip on my ankle to release. It wasn’t a person, a rope, or a chain, though. It was magic, and the only way to fight magic was with magic. My head turned from side to side as I tried to focus, but the terror washing through me was too great. My head bounced as I was yanked over another pile of bones and decaying flesh, and I focused on the first witch that I could see. She dropped to the ground, grabbing her head before I moved down the row to the next one. One by one, they withered in pain, but it wasn’t as strong as I would have liked. They were resisting, but I was unable to give them my complete focus as the invisible hold on my ankle tightened. “You will ALL bow to me!” Cain screamed as I was flipped back over. I could see the full moon above, only the light from it looked different, casting a moody glow. We didn’t have much time left. We would be in line with the sun and moon soon, and Cain would

FAITH Cain's army had parted for me to enter the guarded land before closing in behind me. I eyed the wolves with unease as I walked forward alone. I was being led like a lamb to the slaughter, but I was no longer afraid of them. My magic was mine again, my wolf was back, and I was furious.Having to work with Mila for the past few days, I was ready to rip someone’s head off and was grateful that her presence alone had been able to convert my worry into anger.Even if Cain didn’t die by my hands tonight, I was going to enjoy every second of seeing his downfall. A low growl from behind me made me turn, and I glared as one of the wolves snapped at my heels to get me to walk faster. Instead, I surprised him, turning and kicking his muzzle. He jerked back a foot as he shook his head before snarling at me, crouching down as if to attack. “Ah, ah, ah,” I tsked. “Your owner is waiting for me.”His body convulsed as I sent the smallest push of power toward him, and several others moved

KAIDENMy head was low, ears back as I slunk through the forest. My pack was surrounding me, all spread out, silent and deadly as we approached the first fallen building. The power of the kingdom we had once come from was still noticeable, thrumming through the air and fueling my beast as if it were welcoming me home. My pack stayed close to the buildings, hiding in the shadows from the moonlight while I strode right down the middle of the walkway. I could already smell the witches and could feel the other pack’s presence. My men cut down their patrols one by one behind me, coating the overgrown grass with their blood, announcing our presence. It was a good sign for me and embarrassing for the enemy that they hadn't spotted my pack until we had already passed them. They thought they were prepared to take me and my people down, but they forgot one thing. There was nothing more dangerous than a wolf whose mate was in danger. Faith may not be my soulmate, but she was mine in every se
