FAITH

“NO!” Cain growled at the same time that I shouted it. His was full of fury at Nova being taken underground, and mine was full of fear for Jackson.

I moved forward, trying to move around Kaiden, but he sidestepped to block me. Surely, Joan wouldn’t kill her own sister, would she?

While I was sure there were some unresolved feelings there, she was here to help us, not to fight against us. Besides, she had won as far as she was concerned, right?

Her mother had chosen her over Kaiden and Nova. Mila had even turned her other two kids away when they came to her for help.

Nova would be okay. She had to be.

Otherwise, Mila would lose two children before this is over. I would make sure of it.

"Jackson!" I screamed as he fell to the ground. His cry of pain tugged at my heart, shattering it as he shifted back to his skin and began rolling around, trying to put the fire out.

"There is nothing you can do for him." Cain laughed, and I shook my head in disbelief.

Kaiden had been blown up,

Faith’s worry about her niece makes me believe she’s alive. Maybe the niece wasn’t as powerful so he needs Faith. I’ve said before the niece storyline isn’t my favorite. I want Faith and Kaiden to have a baby and I was hoping she was pregnant and we would see signs since she never took the pill

KAIDENFaith had been right that I would regret not going after Evangeline, but as I crossed the border to Cain’s pack with my group of volunteers, I was furious. I shouldn't be here right now. My mate was back at home with my injured sister and Beta, and an undead King who hadn’t emerged from his room yet by the time I left, and I was anxious to leave Faith alone with him. I didn’t know what kind of man he was, but he had killed multiple Alphas without raising a single finger, and I didn’t know how much control he had over that power. If he got too angry, would he snap and kill others? Was my pack safe with him there, or had I put them all at risk by leaving?Worse, what if I came back to find that I no longer had a pack? We had all been descendants of the people who had fled his kingdom. Technically, the pack was his still since no one had challenged him, and really… no one could. I didn’t want to be here. I growled low as a border patrol approached from the right, and two young

FAITH I sighed as his fingers ran up and down my spine. We were both exhausted, and there were only a few more hours before the sun would come up, but I couldn’t get enough of him. Every time he pulled away, I dragged or teased him back to me. We had broken the bed frame, fucked against the wall so hard that I had expected the bricks to crumble, and had made a mess on the floor. It didn’t matter where he took me or where I rode him, the pleasure didn’t stop or even lessen. One touch to either mark, and we were ready to go again. And each time was more feral than the last. The last time, I had run to the bathroom for a ponytail and had ended up with one foot up on the counter, bent over with my hands on the mirror and my new ponytail in his fist as he slammed into me so hard the mirror shattered. I had been mated before, but this… fuck. I finally understood what people meant when they said mating was a blessing from the moon goddess. While the moon was still large, I was tempted

FAITH Kaiden climbed into the tub, and I couldn’t resist watching him as he did so. His muscles flexed as he moved, and as he sat back in the rising hot water. I had never seen such an attractive man, and I sent a silent prayer up to thank the Gods that he was mine. “Come, mate.” He demanded, and I smiled at the unintentional inuendo as I stepped over the edge of the tub to join him. He opened his arms as I settled in with my back to his chest. He sighed with contentment, but I quickly grabbed the soap and began to scrub first my body and then his. Kaiden chuckled at my impatience, but as soon as I felt clean, I pulled the drain and began refilling the tub with fresh water. I wasn’t done enjoying this with him, and after his close call with death, I figured he could use a few minutes of relaxation before I climbed him like a damned tree, but I refused to sit in dirt, blood, and sweat as we did so.As the tub began to refill, I spun to face him, sitting on my knees between his leg

KAIDENFaith and Nova spent the next several hours talking to each other, bickering, and giggling, while I considered her request. I knew I needed to look at it without the betrayal of Juliana clouding my judgement, but I was having a hard time separating the two women. I knew Juliana, had practically been raised by her, and she turned on me. Her daughter had either been working with Cain all this time or had been his prisoner. Either way, I wasn't sure I could trust her either. How could Nova want me to stop everything and go save Evangeline after what Juliana had put her through? I didn’t know Evangeline, but she was the reason that my only family had turned on me. I couldn’t risk more lives to save one. We had lost too many people already. If she were an innocent, I knew I had to, but I just couldn’t. I wanted to know what Faith thought of it, but I hadn't gotten a chance to talk to her alone yet. Faith didn’t like it when the doctors tried to treat her, but allowed me to give

KAIDENThe infirmary was busy, with people being moved in and out as they were triaged and then moved to another location to be treated. It was running the same as it had on the battlefield, only with a lot more supplies at hand and a greater chance of survival. The war may have been over, but this was a battle that would be ongoing for the next few days or even weeks. “I’m going to go see if any pack doctors are free to give us an update,” Faith said, squeezing my hand before turning to move deeper into the room, even though we both knew we probably wouldn’t get an update for a while until everyone had been at least triaged. “Hey,” I said, walking in front of Jackson’s bed in the infirmary as I rounded it to a sleeping Nova. “Alpha,” He greeted, but didn’t lift his head. His entire body was wrapped in salve and gauze. “It’s just Kaiden, Jackson.” I corrected, and his eyes widened. I had doubted him the entire time, always wondering who was going to turn on me. It hadn’t been him

FAITH The trip back to the pack house was more uncomfortable than I ever imagined it would be after a victory. There was no cheering or excitement. It was a somber affair. Juliana was in chains. There was a caravan of cars taking injured wolves back home. Everyone’s scents were mingled from mates sharing blood to heal one another or from being covered by the enemy’s blood, and the High King… King Lucan was beside me, leading the charge even though he had never been to our pack before…. Or to any of our packs. I assumed he was following our scents, but it was interesting watching him look around, taking in the world around him. I knew it would be dramatically different than what he had been used to, but I wasn’t sure how much it had changed or how much he remembered. When he had shifted, it was unlike anything I had ever seen. His fur had started white, but unlike when our clothes shifted with us, his crown didn’t just disappear. I watched it shimmer before it raced down his bod
