FAITH

The pack broke off, returning to their homes or posts as we reached the city, and by the time we reached the pack house, there were only a few people left. When I came to a stop, they walked right past me, Nova included, to go inside.

“Let’s go,” Kaiden said, but I couldn’t focus on anything other than the doom I was bringing to his pack by being here. Cain would be furious and would burn them all alive to get what he wanted. More magic.

“He’s going to be furious,” I said, and Kaiden just chuckled. “He is going to come here and take me back. He won't let me go so easily."

“He can try, but I won’t let him. If, for any reason, he is successful, just remember that I can find you anywhere,” He said, and my heart stopped as I turned to look at him.

He looked so serious, so sure of himself, that I was positive he was telling the truth. If I ran or was taken, I could count on him finding me. He would always find me.

I could see it in his eyes that he did care, even if it was hidde

KAIDEN“What would you like me to do?” Juliana asked, and I shook my head. “Nothing changes. Continue with the plan.” I ordered, and she nodded but still stared at me with concern. I didn’t want Faith to feel like I was forcing her to return with me, but with each passing moment that she remained outside, I was tempted to do just that. I wanted to keep her in my sight at all times, and if that meant dragging her back up to our bedroom and keeping her there until my wolf calmed, that was just what I would do.He was in a rage, demanding to be set free and to have her by our side, but I couldn't let that happen. She was getting to me in a way that made it unsafe to have her around. Faith was a beautiful, powerful distraction I hadn't been prepared for. Seeing that outpost explode had made my heart and soul feel like it was shattering. “Alpha?” Juliana asked, and I looked to her, realizing I had been staring at the door, waiting for Faith to enter. “It’s okay to be shaken at the tho

FAITH“Fucking witches.” Nova cursed as we limped out of the building. “You might want to get out of here fast. I have a message to send.” The woman, Joan, chuckled before her body shook, and I watched transfixed as she turned into a wolf. Her fur was as white as snow, and she stomped her paw at me before taking off into the forest.“Not a witch,” I corrected as the wolf sprinted away. I didn’t know who she was or what she wanted, but she made it clear that she didn’t want us involved, and I wasn’t going to complain. I was just grateful to be free. Being Cain's prisoner and being Kaiden’s prisoner were two different worlds, and I couldn’t find it in me to be upset by Kaiden controlling my magic anymore when it was nothing compared to what Cain had planned for me. The devil I knew was better than the devil I didn't. “She must be part of the rebels,” Nova muttered, still glaring with disdain. “What? What rebels?” I asked, and she curled her lip in disgust. “They are just a rumor

FAITH The jangling of keys made my heart speed up, and I unhooked my legs from the bars quickly, before dropping back down. My wrists and shoulders protested the movement, and I released a cry of pain as I felt them threatening to separate from their sockets. The man who came through the door chuckled when he saw me drop, and I couldn’t stop the tears of pain that filled my eyes as fire flooded my limbs. There was no way I could get my legs back up now. “Don’t waste your energy. You aren’t going anywhere.” He said, holding my stare.“I didn’t think I was,” I grumble back, knowing backtalk wouldn’t help my situation. If anything, it would just make it worse. “Do you know who I am?” The large man asked, the veins bulging under his skin. He was massive, in the most terrifying way. Everything about him looked threatening, and my eyes widened when he pulled out a key ring and opened the door to the cell. “Cain’s little bitch, right? We’ve met.” Nova said smugly, and I stared at her in

KAIDENI stared over the bodies in the field, furious because I knew this was just another distraction. He had sent weak and malnourished wolves, prisoners most likely, as they had burns and bruises on their wrists and ankles, to fight his battle for him. It had been like a wave of zombies running in, their eyes full of blood lust as if they were blindly following orders. They hadn't seemed motivated to win or make it past us to the pack house. Cutting them down had been easy enough, and looking around the corpses littering my land infuriated me. Cain was wasting my resources, which was expected of war, but he could have at least made it worth my time and energy. This wasn’t a battle at all. This was a slaughter. “Burn the bodies at the border. I want him to see the smoke from his pack land.” I ordered, knowing he was probably sitting back on his throne, laughing at the lives he had just sacrificed and the trouble he had caused. Even with them dead, he would be gloating that he ha

FAITH “You sick son of a bitch!” Nova’s scream made me stir, and I groaned in pain as I lifted my head.My arms felt like they were being ripped out of their sockets, and I panicked for a moment as I looked around the large cement room and the cage I was hanging from. Nova was only a few feet away, her body swinging as she thrashed around. “He took you, too? Karma’s a bitch.” I spat, and Nova’s eyes narrowed further. Even after her betrayal bit her in the ass, she still had the nerve to act like I was the one in the wrong here. “How could you work with him?” I asked, staring at her as she grabbed the chains above her head and threw her body weight down in an attempt to break them, with no luck. “How could you betray your brother like that?” Nova paused, panting from the exertion but glaring at me.“I wasn’t working with him. I would never betray Kaiden! I was doing what was best for my pack. ” She growled. “You sold me to Cain! How was that not betraying Kaiden?” I said incredu

FAITH“What the fuck is your problem?” I snapped, sick of her attitude. She may be bigger than me, stronger than me, and from Alpha blood, but I was a white wolf. I had magic that she could only dream of having, even if I couldn’t use it yet. After Kaiden fell asleep, I stared at the amulet on his bare chest, determined to get my hands on it one day at any cost. One day, I would steal my freedom back and never be owned again. “Don’t you think we have bigger things to worry about right now?” I asked, gesturing to the door where the last of the guards were following after Kaiden, ready to prepare for battle. “You’re right,” Nova sighed, holding my stare for a moment longer before looking away. It was unsettling, and I didn’t trust it. I hadn’t known Nova long or even interacted with her more than a few times, but I knew from the first moment I met her that Nova would never submit to me.Still, she looked sincere the next time she looked up, and I took a deep breath to try to calm t

FAITHI didn’t know what to think when I woke up alone. I had been sharing the bed only hours earlier, yet Kaiden’s side was empty and cold, despite the darkness of night still visible through the patio doors.I wasn’t sure what had woken me, but a prickle of awareness washed over me, telling me I wasn’t alone. My breathing remained slow and even as I tried to hide my fear, but it was strong within me as my instincts alerted me that I was in danger.“You saw me,” A female whispered, and I sat up suddenly, staring across the dark room to the flickering image of the witch I had tried to kill only hours ago. “I see you now, too. What do you want?” I asked, slowly pushing the blanket back so I could stand without her seeing the panic consuming me.“You’re on the wrong side,” She said, the projection staring at me with pity, but I just smiled at her. The wrong side? If a man whom I suspected of killing his previous mates was the right side, then I would be happy to continue in ignorance

KAIDENI could see why Victor Cain wanted Faith so badly. Her power was extraordinary. I had felt it pulsing through me as she used it. It had been so powerful that I could almost taste it.And one taste wasn’t enough. How could any man ever reject her and give up that power? She was extraordinary. “I want a list of all missing persons or people who have left the pack in the past five years on my desk within the hour,” I said, knowing Cain had never been shy about sending messages. Whoever the smoking body belonged to would be someone important or recognizable. He wanted to make us hurt, and I did not doubt that he would.“Alpha,” My Gamma, Jackson, said, and I turned to look at him, suddenly realizing that he was no longer my Gamma. He was my Beta now. My Beta, Henry, had been my best friend, and he had been working for Cain. He had stabbed me, and in return, I had ended his life for his betrayal. “Beta Jackson,” I greeted, and watched as he stood straighter at my first acknowl
