FAITH

I shoved at Nova as she held me down, twisting my body to reach for the woman who had thought she could get away with hurting Kaiden.

The bond pulsed through me, and I could still feel Kaiden’s command through the amulet. It was dull, but it was there, feeding my desire to end the unconscious witch next to us.

“Fascinating,” Juliana said, the witch appearing over Nova and me.

She didn’t look aggressive or malicious, but I didn’t trust her. Where had she been while the other witch attacked Kaiden, and why was Nova protecting the little witch?

I felt a burst of cold air wrap around me until my body felt frozen. Only then did it get sucked into my amulet until the metal, too, had cooled and the blood lust that had been fueling me was gone. “I’ve never seen a connection that strong between a Bearer and a Bound.”

The back of my head rested against the ground as I panted, trying to calm myself as my desire to end the witch faded.

“She should have been killed,” I said, ignoring Julia

KAIDENI threw my head back as I laughed long and hard. Broderick’s face was red with anger by the time I was finished, and I felt lighter than before. The pain wasn’t as intense, and the wall between Faith and me was crumbling, making me feel uneasy.“I do not recall it being any of your place to vote on the execution of an innocent in my care. My bound. My woman.” I leaned forward. “It would be a shame if any of you were to violate our treaty and kill one of my pack members without them causing your pack harm to warrant it.”“It is for the good of all of our packs, Kaiden. Surely, you have to be reasonable enough to see that.” He said, his voice getting deeper.“Did you miss the part where I said she was mine? She isn’t just my Bound, Broderick. She. Is. Mine.” I growled, my beast coming forward. Faith may have been brought here as a pawn in this war to be used against Cain, but he was right. The best way to use her against him now was to eliminate her as a source of power, and I

KAIDENMy molars ground together as I felt for Faith through our bond. Her walls were up, and while I was normally able to push against them, I didn’t have the strength to do even that. Even with Faith’s blood restoring our bond and helping my healing, I should still be in the infirmary. Instead, I had to stand strong with the stubborn woman, thinking I didn’t know she was sneaking around with Will right now to look for Nova’s tracks. Broderick was only here to steal my pack from under me, so I really didn’t mind Faith not being present for the meeting, but I also didn’t want her to get her hopes up that Nova hadn’t turned on us because everything we had found so far proved that she had.And why wouldn’t she? She had gotten nothing from this pack other than pain, suffering, and loneliness. It was even in this house that she had been hurt over and over again. It was our guards and pack doctors looking the other way because none of them could take down the Alpha. If I were her, I w

FAITH“There is no way it survived. It wouldn’t be viable for at least two more months, right?” Will asked, and I turned to face him slowly, my eyebrows pulling together. “What? I’ve been around pregnant women before. I know the basics.” “If it didn’t survive, why would they take it?” I wondered before picturing Cain trying to tap into the baby’s power. It was sickening. Yet, it felt like just the kind of thing he would do. “I doubt Cain could tap into its power if it died,” Will said, and I winced. “What if it didn’t die?” Kaiden said softly, and I met his gaze as horror filled me. "What if they took it because it lived?"A baby created from someone as strong as my sister, mixed with a man harnessing the power of at least three other white wolves, would be a weapon unlink anything the world had ever seen. Granted, we had at least eighteen years until she could fully harness her powers, but who was to say she would have to wait that long if she was already showing signs of power i

FAITHI could hear Kaiden attempting to chase after me, but while he was healing, his body had taken so much damage that the pack doctors had run to his room the second he disconnected from his monitors and were trying to convince him to get back in bed. There was very little that could stop an Alpha, though, and they stood no chance with one as stubborn and angry as Kaiden. “Open the doors,” I demanded as I sprinted toward the dungeon. I needed to see it for myself. Kaiden told me Sable would die one day for her attack on him and our people, and I had come to terms with that until I learned that she wasn’t in control of her own actions. The baby, Cain’s evil spawn, had been pushing dark magic into Sable, and Ryan or Cain had been controlling Sable’s powers of manipulation. The only thing I could see that was real was Sable’s bitterness and jealousy that she had felt like she was second place for her whole life. That was something we could have worked through. If she hadn’t been

FAITH“It couldn’t be,” I said, shaking my head. “Nova wouldn’t do that to me.” Kaiden shook his head, and I knew he didn’t want to believe it either, but I WOULDN'T believe it. Nova and I had become friends. Besides Kaiden, she was the person I was the closest to here. “Remind me how you got kidnapped.” He reminded me, but I shook my head. “Don’t try to lie about it anymore, Faith. We agreed on honesty. I know what Nova did, but I also know how much she hates the white wolves, so I was expecting her to do something rash. Then you covered for her, and I figured you would have a good reason for doing so, so I left it alone.”“That was before...” “Before you were friends? She is my sister, and she was still able to hand you over to Cain even though you were bound to me! If you died, that could have hurt or even killed my wolf, Faith.” He exclaimed, and the emptiness in his eyes was replaced with anger, but I knew it wasn’t directed at me. “She was my sister, and she didn’t care if k

FAITH I shot upright, my head pounding as I blinked quickly. My back had never hurt this much before, and I groaned as I tried to straighten it. Next time, I would ask them to move a bed over so I could lay next to him instead of sleeping in a chair, hunched over his mattress. It was dark outside, and I squinted through the low lighting at Kaiden lying in the bed. His eyes were open, but he was staring blankly at the ceiling. “Oh, Gods!” I gasped, jumping to my feet, my free hand hovering over his body and then cheeks as I resisted the urge to touch him. He looked better, barely a burn on him, but he was pale and looked dazed. “You’re awake!” No, not dazed, I realized. Kaiden looked empty as he turned to stare at me. Still, I couldn’t resist the flood of happy tears that slipped down my cheeks as I smiled at him. “I’m so happy you’re awake!” I blubbered, wiping my cheeks with the back of my hand. “I was so worried. How are you feeling? Do you need anything? Do the doctors kn
