Brooklyn tossed and turned in her sleep as Nikolas’s haggard face kept on appearing in her dreams. She had waited all evening till late at night but he hadn’t emerged from the study. He skipped his dinner as well, making Brooklyn so upset that she sobbed herself to sleep. Was it her fault that Ryder appeared at her doorstep?
