Chapter 2: Shocking Truth

At night, I couldn't bring myself to sleep in the same bedroom which Andrew and I were sharing together. Every time that I stepped my feet into the room, the image of Andrew and Tessa making out kept replaying in my head over and over again.

I was the only one who could tell how suffocating it was for me to take my bath and also change my clothes in the room.

After having dinner, I took the things that I needed for the night and made my way to one of the guest rooms where I usually slept whenever Andrew and I had an argument or I felt like sleeping alone.

I had almost dozed off when the door of the room slowly opened, and Andrew walked into the room and slowly slipped into the bed with me. Despite how uncomfortable I now felt with his presence, I still allowed him to lie down beside me; after all, I was going to doze off in no time. But suddenly, I felt his hand beginning to roam around my body. Without hesitating, I quickly grabbed his hand and shoved it away from my body.

"Babe, what is it? You didn't sleep in our bedroom, and also you are now avoiding my touch. I hope everything is okay?" He asked me, and with that I scoffed inwardly, as he sounded so much like someone who cared. Had I not caught him sleeping with Tessa today, I would have still thought that he was the most lovely and faithful man on earth, but unknown to me, he's nothing but a cheat.

"Andrew, I'm not in the mood right now, and also I'm not feeling well," I said to him as I shifted away from him, making sure to create enough space between us. 

"And have you seen a doctor?" He asked me.

"Yes, I have, and he said that I need to get enough rest," I said to him, while backing him.

"Okay then, try and get some rest. Goodnight," he said to me as he took his phone and began manipulating it.

"Goodnight too," I muttered to him in reply before covering myself with the duvet and closing my eyes, hoping to doze off in no time, but no matter how long I stayed, the sleep seemed not to be coming, and I myself knew that the reason was because I wasn't comfortable with the person lying down beside me.

As I was still struggling to get some sleep, I started hearing the snoring sound of Andrew, and with that, I quickly lifted the duvet, as I was now sure that he had slept off. Since I wasn't able to force myself to sleep because of Andrew's presence, what I wanted to do next was to lie down on the ground or go to the sitting room.

As I turned towards Andrew, my gaze immediately caught his phone that was lying on his chest while still switched on. Sighing heavily, I took the phone and was about to switch it off and drop it somewhere safe when I caught sight of the name of the person who he was chatting with before sleeping off, and that person was none other than Tessa. 

On seeing it, I smiled sadly as it dawned on me that Andrew had no single regards for me; even while lying down beside me, he was still chatting with her, and surely this wasn't even the first time.

I had wanted to drop the phone and look for a means to get some sleep when my curiosity took over, and with that, I began scrolling through their chats in order to know for how long Andrew has been making a fool out of me, and after scrolling for what seemed like an eternity, my face and whole body became pale like someone who has not only seen a ghost but has been touched by it.

Andrew and Tessa have been in contact for the past three years, which literally meant that even after Tessa abandoned Andrew on the altar on their wedding day, they were still communicating. This was the second thing that I discovered through their chats after their romantic relationship that I was already aware of, and this was even what pushed me to read further in order to shed more light in the darkness that I have been in for the past three years.

After the first and second discoveries, what I discovered next almost gave me a heart attack. Tessa didn't abandon Andrew on their wedding day; instead, they had everything planned out right from the very beginning.

Originally, Andrew had wanted to marry Tessa, but when my mum passed away and everything that belonged to her was given to me as per her will, Tessa, who was now jealous of how rich I had become overnight and wanted everything that belonged to me for herself, teamed up with Andrew and came up with the most devilish plan I have ever heard about, and that plan was for her to disappear on her wedding day, and when she does that, I will be forced to get married to Andrew in order to save the face of both families, and after the marriage, Andrew would pretend to be in love with me while in reality what he would be doing is draining me of all my values, and when they have drained me completely and nothing else remains, they will discard me like a piece of trash that I would have become.

No single word was enough for me to explain how surprised and perplexed I was after reading the whole chat because they had almost archived their whole objective, and that was the reason why Tessa resurfaced after being away all this while.

Just the same way a flame would instantly go out completely when a very huge amount of water is poured on its source, that was the same way every feeling that I had for Andrew went off the very moment that I finished reading the chats between him and Tessa, and those feelings were instantly replaced with more hatred, added to the one I was already harbouring towards him after catching him sleeping with Tessa.

Taking my phone, I immediately connected his chatting app to my phone; that way, I will have access to all his conversations with Tessa at every given time. After wiping out every trace of what I have done with his phone, I dropped the phone beside him before taking my things and walking out of the room. 

For the past three years, Andrew and Tessa have been the masters of the game they have been playing against me, but now, it was finally time for that to change.
