Serena's POV

Pristine’s voice was calm, like the word bitch didn't get to her. “Who exactly are you calling a bitch?”

Ella’s lips curved in a slow, mocking smile. “You, obviously. Who else here fits the title so perfectly?”

I could practically feel the air snap between them. My instincts told me exactly what was about to happen, and it wasn’t going to be pretty.

I took two careful steps back, my eyes darting toward the door in case I needed a quick exit.

But I also wanted to see the fight play out between the both of them. I would love nothing more than to see Ella beat the hell out of Pristine, that's if Sam doesn't interfere.

“Ladies,” Sam stepped in, lifting his hands like a referee before a boxing match. “I believe this is a misunderstanding. Let’s just-

He really didn't get to finish his statement.

Without me even blinking, Pristine lifted her glass just like someone would do when raising a toast and emptied the whole content onto Ella's face!

The red wine splashed in an arc ont

  • Chasing Back The Woman He Destroyed   Chapter 226

Serena's POV"Now that's the spirit."He released a quiet sigh, which was followed by a mixture of a curse spoken under his breath.Sophia walked further in, her words being spoken loudly enough for him to be able to hear, "You know, I think he secretly loves this.""I do not," he quickly said, shooting her a glare. "I like peace and normalcy. Two things you both seem to despise.""Peace is boring," I said lightly. "And normalcy doesn't get you results."Damien shook his head again, but this time there was a flicker of a smile on the edges of his mouth. "You're going to drive me nuts, Serena.""Maybe," I shrugged. "But don't even try to deny it, you'd miss me if I disappeared."He didn't answer me, but just gave me half-warning, half-something else stare, something I ignored.Sophia, dear Sophia, took over the room. "Okay, so Serena goes out with Morris, gets the information, and manages to get him to hire me at Novatech. And in the meantime, Damien rewrites my history like some fairy

Serena's POVI raised both hands, defensive but calm. “Relax. It was just a conversation. He mentioned he could pull some strings.”Damien stared at me like he wasn’t sure whether to laugh or scold me. “You just met this guy, and you’re already asking him for favors?”“It’s called initiative,” I said with a shrug. “And Sophia’s been jobless for, what, two eternities?”Sophia gasped. “Excuse you! That’s not even accurate.”Damien pressed a hand against his forehead, fighting a smile. “You two are going to give me a headache.”Sophia folded her arms. “She’s exaggerating, by the way. I’m not jobless. I’m just—”“Unemployed,” I supplied.“—taking a professional break,” she finished, glaring at me.Damien laughed softly. “Whatever you call it, I’m guessing this Morris guy didn’t say no.”I smirked faintly. “He didn’t. He said she could send her credentials and he’d get working on it.”Sophia looked at me, half-annoyed, half-intrigued. “And he took her seriously.”I nodded.Damien leaned ba

Serena's POVHe let out a quick, stunned laugh and shook his head. "A senior executive at Novatech," he muttered to himself, smiling like he couldn't believe his eyes. "That's impressive.""Unbelievable, really," I told myself, giving Sophia dirty looks. She winked at me, having far too much fun.Damien finally came deeper into the room, his face easing into a teasing but questioning expression."Ahh, so Serena," he drawled lazily, crossing one leg over the other. "Tell me, how did you and your date meet?"Sophia nodded, a humongous grin spreading across her face like she'd been waiting all night long. "You heard the man," she answered with an innocent tone. "Damien's asking how you met your date."I gave her a stern warning glare that would have melted steel into a puddle of liquid. "Sophia—"But she just widened her smile more, her eyes sparkling with mischief.Damien did not look away. He leaned his elbow on the arm of the chair, chin a little askew, staring at me as though he were

Serena's POVI regarded her, my tone level but resolute. "He'll never catch on. And if he does, he'll be fretting over things of so much more consequence than what app Morris and I were working on."Sophia scoffed, ruffling her hair. "Wonderful," she complained. "You always have a retort for every situation, don't you?"I smiled faintly. "That's why you adore me."She rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress the small smile that was on her lips. "Whatever." Then, after a pause, she continued, "Call him anyway. See if he's close by."I was stunned. "You mean Damien?""Yes, Damien," she answered, rummaging through her phone. "If we're going to be wasting our time sitting here doing this, we might as well know when he's showing. No use sitting here guessing."I nodded slowly, my heart pounding even as I looked unruffled. "Fine," I snarled. "Let's call him."Sophia hesitated before extending her phone. "You call him," she said. "He listens to you more."I looked down at the phone in my hand,

Serena's POVSophia's question shattered the good silence that was between us while we were watching TV."How do we break it to Damien about Morris when he gets here?" she asked me."It's so simple," I answered after a moment, attempting my best to be casual. "We just break it to him that Morris wants to see him. No drama needed."Sophia furrowed her face, changing her sitting position. "That's it?Yes, I said, looking at her for a moment. "That's enough that he knows for now."She wasn't sure. "And what if Damien asks how we met Morris?"I slapped a weak smile on my face. "He won't. Damien isn't like that. Damien doesn't ask questions like that. He's more of the straight-shooter type. You know that.".Sophia sighed. "If you say so. Just remember that we are in Sunderland. Damien isn't around. He'll be careful. You know he adores the city."I was going to answer back when my phone started ringing on the couch. I glanced at the screen and there was Kyle."Give me a sec," I said, pickin

Alexander's POVI grinned faintly at her question. Typical Alexa, always pragmatic, always cutting through feelings with common sense. "Money isn't my issue," I clarified. She blinked. "What's that supposed to mean? Are you secretly wealthy or something?"Mom shot her a light, knowing look before I could respond. "Your brother has his ways," she said softly.Alexa spun back to her. "You're making excuses for him like he's some sort of covert operative."I smiled silently. "You're not quite wrong."She folded her arms. "That is not funny, Alex. Sunderland is not a playground. You can't just walk into here and—""I didn't walk in to play," I interrupted softly but firmly.I glanced at Mom, whose calm face didn't alter, although I could see the flicker of understanding in her eyes. "I'm here because there's business that's unfinished. And because I wanted to see both of you."Alexa frowned, her interest piqued but controlled. "Unfinished business with whom?""Finishing business with anyo
