COLIN’S POV

I don’t move.

I’m still sitting there, the paper in my hand, my eyes locked on that one line like if I look away it might change, like I might’ve read it wrong, like I missed something and if I just blink or shift or breathe a little differently, it won’t be what it says it is.

But I didn’t.

It’s clear.

Too clear.

My chest feels tight, not sharp, just heavy, like something dropped inside me and hasn’t settled, and the longer I sit with it, the worse it gets, like it’s sinking deeper

  • Chasing His Divorced Wife And His Child   Chapter 41

NADIA’S POVThe apartment feels too quiet after they leave. Not peaceful.Just empty in a way that makes every little sound stand out, the ticking clock on the wall, the low hum of the refrigerator, Noah’s soft breathing from the couch.I stand near the window for a long moment, arms folded tightly across my chest, staring out at the gray morning sky while my coffee goes cold on the counter behind me.My chest still feels tight.Melissa’s voice keeps replaying in my head.I’ll handle it legally. The words sit heavy.Cold.And somehow that makes them worse.I close my eyes for a second, forcing a slow breath into my lungs, trying to settle myself before Noah notices anything is wrong.Because he always notices.Even when I try to hide it.“Mommy?”His small voice pulls me back immediately.I turn fast, forcing my expression softer before I walk toward him, crouching down beside the couch.“Yeah, baby?” My voice comes out gentle this time, smoother than I feel. “You okay?”He nods once,

  • Chasing His Divorced Wife And His Child   Chapter 40

COLIN’S POVMorning hasn’t settled in my head the way it should.I’m standing just outside Nadia’s place, the door still half open behind her, the quiet from inside spilling out into the hallway, and everything feels too sharp, too clear, like there’s no space left to hide in.My chest is still tight. Not from doubt anymore. From everything that came after it.She’s still standing there, one hand on the door, the other slightly curled at her side, like she’s holding herself together by force, and I can see it now, I can see the strain in the way her shoulders stay tense, the way her eyes don’t soften.“I meant what I said,” I tell her, my voice low, steady, but heavier than I want it to be, like it’s carrying more than just the words. “I’m not walking away from this.”Her expression doesn’t change. Not really.Just tightens slightly.“You already did,” she replies, her voice calm but sharp, not raised, not emotional, just certain.I take a breath, slower this time, my jaw tightening s

  • Chasing His Divorced Wife And His Child   Chapter 39

NADIA’S POVMorning comes in quiet.Light slips through the curtains, soft and pale, touching the floor, the walls, everything like nothing is wrong, like this is just another normal day and nothing is about to break. But something is.I stand in the kitchen, holding a cup I’m not drinking from, my fingers wrapped around it just to feel something steady, something that doesn’t move or change on me.Noah is in the living room, small sounds coming from him, toys shifting, his quiet voice to himself, soft and calm, like he’s in his own world and nothing can touch him there.Normal.That’s all I want.Just normal.I glance toward him for a second, my chest easing just a little at the sight of him sitting there, focused, safe, and I almost let myself believe the day will stay like this.A knock. My chest tightens instantly, my fingers going stiff around the cup, my breath catching halfway in as everything in me goes still.“Stay there, baby,” I call softly, my voice coming out low but tigh

  • Chasing His Divorced Wife And His Child   Chapter 37

COLIN’S POVThe office is too quiet. Not calm or peaceful, just empty in a way that makes every small sound feel louder, the low hum of the AC, the faint ticking of the clock on the wall, even my own breathing sitting heavier than it should. The blinds are half-closed, cutting the light into sharp lines across the desk, across the envelope sitting right in front of me.White, plain, too small for what it carries, but it feels heavy.I’ve been staring at it for… I don’t even know how long, my fingers resting just beside it, close enough to touch, but not moving, like there’s a line there I haven’t crossed yet and once I do, that’s it.My chest feels tight, a steady pressure that doesn’t ease, because once I open it, there’s no more guessing, no more “maybe,” just truth, and I don’t know if I’m ready for that. And for the first time since this started, I don’t rush, I don’t grab it, I don’t tear it open like I thought I would, I just sit there, breathing, trying to slow my thoughts down

  • Chasing His Divorced Wife And His Child   Chapter 36

NADIA’S POVThe knock comes when I’m not ready for it.It cuts straight through the quiet, through the little space I managed to build after he left, and my whole body tenses instantly, my grip tightening around the cup in my hand.My chest tightens again.God… not again. For a second, I don’t move.I just stand there, listening, my heart starting to beat faster, harder, like it already knows this isn’t going to be simple.Noah looks up at me from the couch, his small brows pulling together slightly, sensing the shift, and that alone makes something twist in my chest.“It’s okay,” I say quickly, forcing my voice soft even though it doesn’t feel like it, setting the cup down and walking toward the door. “Stay right there, baby, I’ll be back.”My fingers hover over the handle for a second. Then I open it.And the second I see her, My stomach drops.Melissa.She stands there like she owns the moment, calm, composed, dressed like she didn’t just show up uninvited, her eyes sliding past m
