                 Ximena

The slap could’ve made the old me stagger in shock but I stood my ground, my teeth gritted with my hands fisted as I stared at Eloise with fury.

“How dare you stare at the Alpha like that? Have some respect! He’s a fucking Alpha and you’re nothing but a guard, you should never look at him!” Eloise scolded and I scoffed with anger.

She was the Alpha’s only sister and she behaved like she was the owner of the world. Everything about her reeked of pride and it was fucking disgusting to be around her. Her aura made my skin crawl with disdain.

“Why did you come back? I’m sure you heard the Alpha was around that was why you rushed back.” She accused me and I scoffed, too bothered to even think of the Alpha who had already left.

“I have nothing to say to you.” I replied as I turned around to leave but she held me back, making my anger triple.

“Why are you running? Are you going to run after him? Is this how desperate you are? You know nobody in this pack is going to be with you because of that witch you call your grandmother, is that why you want someone from another pack?” She questioned and I almost scowled in anger.

I was breathing heavily with Xena trying her best to calm me down. “Get out of my way—“

“Why? Aren’t I allowed to speak the truth? Does the truth hurt so bad? Are you feeling guilty?” She asked with a sly smile and I inhaled and exhaled, trying to control my anger.

“Get out of my way, Eloise.” I warned subtly.

“Or what? You dirty guard! You’re nothing but mere servant to this pack, I could order you to go fight rogues and you can die along the way. If you’re in need of a man, I can be more than willing to give you one or two prisoners in the dungeon so you would stop throwing yourself at a person who would never have eyes for you—“ Eloise was still talking when the anger felt unbearable and I did the one thing I was most proud of.

I slapped her, the force was so overwhelming it took her seconds to snap out of it, I could see my hand lines plastered on her face and it felt awfully good to see her speechless with tears in her eyes.

“How dare you!” She snapped as she slapped me, making me turn in shock as I tasted blood in my mouth but today wasn’t like any other day, I wouldn’t let her get away with this, I’m going to give her a cup, not a sip of her own medicine.

“Argh!” She yelled the moment I returned the slap, her eyes were red and she was staring at me with fury, her hand plastered on her cheek as she tried to hold back the already streaming tears while looking like a time bomb ready to explode.

“I’m a warrior who is protecting not only this pack but your crazy ass! If you have a problem with me doing my job in the best way, then you can as well ask the Alpha to lay me off and if you have a personal beef with me, we can fight it out in the open and let the strongest man dominate.” It was a subtle threat and she stepped back a little, panting heavily with fury as she was too scared to say a word.

I turned around and left the pack house, angrily making my way to the house with Xena trying to calm me but I was so done with Eloise. Whatever beef she has with me can’t keep dragging because I won’t take rubbish from anyone, not even the Alpha of the pack.

Getting to the house, I was shocked to see grandmother standing outside, looking moody. “Grandmother, is there are problem?”’I asked with concern and she sighed heavily.

“Come with me.” She replied and I was gripped with fear, ever since I came here, I’ve never seen her this way, it got me trying to rack my brain for what could be wrong.

My parents are okay, even though they had cut me off after asking me to return which I ignored. “What’s wrong?” I asked, unable to hide my fear.

“It’s your father.” She replied and I gasped with shock, my heartbeat racing at the thought that something crazy must’ve happened to him.

“What’s wrong with father? please tell me—“ I pleaded, grabbing her hands immediately as fear flooded my whole body as I thought of only one dreadful idea, death.

“He’s— He’s weak and he wants you to come back—“ Grandmother answered and my heart began racing heavily.

He was still alive, there was still a chance to see him and make sure he’s okay. Without a word, I shifted into my wolf form and dashed out of the house.

Running as fast as I could as I headed towards the border. Xena was worried and all she wanted was to see him, it had been years and now it was high time I returned back home.

Without being bothered about whether it was getting late or what I might encounter along the way, with determination I made my way to the Armstrong pack for the first time in six years.

Following the shortest way to the house, I dashed into the house with a growl loud enough to chase birds away.

“Ximena—“ I heard mom’s frail voice and it broke my heart into a million pieces. I was their only hope and I had left them, I had abandoned them out of my foolishness.

“Ximena.” My brothers called as they surrounded me and slowly, I shifted back to my wolf form, my eyes tears as I stepped forward slowly.

“Wh— Where is father?” I whispered almost breaking into tears. The house was still the same, not one thing had changed, they only got older and looked more weary.

“I’m here—“ He beamed with a big smile and I froze. I was shocked to see father standing with a smile. I was happy that he was okay but I was confused.

“Fa— How— What—“ I stuttered, looking from mother to father.

“He’s okay, we only said this so you could come back home—“ Kushim explained and my hands dropped to my side.

“What!” I gasped, unable to contain my shock and my brothers began smiling. It all seemed like a joke to them but it was damn serious to me.

“You— You did all these just to bring me back?” I demanded and they nodded.

“Yes, the Alpha—“

“What! Why would you lie to me just to bring me back home! Do you know how scared and worried I was! Does this look funny! Why would you use something as terrifying as that?” I snapped and silence dominated the house.

“Don’t ever send a message to me, I’m never returning to this pack, not even when I die! This is the last time you’ll ever see me!” I vowed harshly as I dashed out of the house, running with tears in my eyes.

Ximena wondered if there was anything wrong and contemplated on how to act around Alvaro. She didn't mind and just walked. And the look on Simon's eyes? She knew something was up and she knew exactly what it was but that was something to deal with later, of course.

Ximena gently followed the beta and anticipated the conversation with Alvaro. It was awkward enough that he got injured. She entered Alvaro's room, relieved to see him healing. "How are you feeling?" she asked gently.

Alvaro managed a faint smile. "Better, but uneasy. The sudden attack... It's unsettling. Don't you think so?”

“Well, yeah. That's right. There remains the fact that you and Simon were attacked and injured.” She added.

“I'm so concerned about this. What do you think they want?” He asked and tilted his head back.

She approached, concern etched on her face. "You should rest. We can discuss this later. You need your strength to present yourself to the pack later.”

He shook his head. "No, something's

Alpha Alvaro maneuvered his sleek black SUV through the winding path, the hum of the engine was the only sound accompanying him, considering he was alone in the roads.

His mind wandered through the thoughts of Ximena as he drove gently. The air somehow felt off and he sighed, still focused on the road.

Suddenly, his eyes caught a dark smuggish object laid across the road ahead. Slowing down, he brought the vehicle to a halt and stepped out, his senses were on high alert. As he approached, he could sense the atmosphere increasing in tension and staring at the lifeless carcass on the ground, moulded with blood that's dripping nonstop, only made matters worse.

He didn't panic and moved closer to take a good look at it. The figure looked exactly like a rogue wolf, its lifeless body bearing signs of a brutal fight. He took a few steps back to ease the awful smell that filled his nostrils.

“How did this happen?” He thought to himself, clicking his fingertips, and still managing the

“Thank you so much, Alpha Alvaro. I had a great time yesterday. It was so perfect and beautiful.” I whispered, clutching the phone tightly to my ears.

“That’s good, I’d do anything just to see you happy.” He replied and my heart jolted. Something was stirred inside of me and a huge smile appeared on my face.

“I… I have to go now. I’ll see you later…” I whispered and ended the call immediately, my heart racing heavily.

“Why did you end the call?” Xena was furious.

“We both know why so don’t ask me.” I replied as I shut my eyes tightly.

“Why? Why don’t you want him to ask the question? What are you scared of? He’s a great man.” Xena pointed out and I exhaled.

“He’s a great man no doubt but I don’t feel comfortable, especially now that I’m wanted by two men. I feel there’s something that makes them want me and with all the ongoing issues, having a relationship with Alpha Alvaro is out of place.” I replied and she disagreed.

“I feel

I was dressed in a black tuxedo and I couldn’t stop staring at myself, trying to know if I looked good even though I had received numerous compliments from everyone.

I wanted to be perfect for Ximena and her alone. I knocked on the door, my heart palpitating and after a few seconds, the door opened.

My mouth dropped when I saw Ximena. She was dressed in a blue shirt gown with tiny straps. Her face sparkled and the minimal makeup highlighted her beauty.

Her blue eyes sparkled the moment they fell on me and I couldn’t help but gasp in awe. She was beautiful, no, gorgeous! Stunning… Words couldn’t describe this beauty.

She blushed slightly, her face going crimson as a smile appeared in her face. Her hair was packed up and tendrils fell at both sides. She looked hot with her hair let down but hotter with her hair packed.

“Yo… You look stunning.” I managed to stutter after staring for almost a minute.

“You look great.” She mumbled, unable to stop staring. We both sta

AlvaroIt was Ximena's birthday and I jumped out of bed immediately at 7 am. I was extremely excited. From her details I knew today was her birthday and together with her brothers yesterday, we had decided to throw her a surprise birthday dinner party. It was a small party for family and friends. I knew Ximena wasn’t a lover of huge gatherings hence my conclusion to make it small and private.“Dhruv… Are you still asleep?” I mindlinked to Dhruv.“Alpha… Isn’t it too early…” Dhruv groaned, it was obvious he was just waking up.“The earlier the better.” I replied and he groaned.“Ximena isn’t aware I’m having a sleepless night for her. I’m sure she’d be asleep now but I’m forced to wake up. She isn’t half as excited as you are and it’s not your birthday.” He complained and I chuckled.“It’s a good thing you’re up. Now come to the pack house, let's start the preparations!” I replied and cut off the mindlink.I walked down, smiling softly as I hummed songs under my breath. I couldn’t stop

XimenaI was heading to the field and strangely, Xena suggested we pass through the quarters meant for warriors.I was complaining bitterly as to why we had to pass through such a long journey when I overheard a heated voice.“What do you want me to do! I told you I needed more time… Things are different… You need to be patient and if you can…” He stopped abruptly like he had sensed my presence and he turned around sharply.I was staring at him from the door, a feigned smile on my face. He ended the call immediately, I could see his hands trembling slightly while he tried to force a smile although it seemed difficult. It was hard to tell whether I was overreacting or this was how he was behaving now. “Mark…”“Oh, it’s good to see you Xena… I heard about the attack, I’m so sorry.” He muttered and I smiled, nodding immediately.“Thank you so much. What’s up with you? Who were you arguing with?” I asked, my suspicions greater than my concern.“Nothing much… Just crazy stuff…” He drawled,
