LOGINMaking my way to his office, I hesitated outside the door, taking a moment to gather my thoughts.
When I finally entered, I found Xavier seated behind his desk, engrossed in his work. His presence still had the power to render me speechless.
For a moment, I stood there, admiring his broad shoulders and handsome features.
However, his gaze met mine, and any warmth I had hoped to see was replaced with
disinterest.
“I brought the files,” I said, my voice steady, placing the documents on his desk.
He nodded, acknowledging my gesture but saying nothing.
“Have you had lunch? We could eat together,” I suggested, my heart hoping for a chance to talk, to connect with him again.
“There’s no need for that; I promised Bella we’d cat together,” he replied, and a pang of jealousy struck my heart at the mention of his mate’s name.
“Bella?” I questioned, unable to hide my curiosity.
“My mate,” came the curt reply, and I felt a mixture of sorrow and bitterness rise within me. “You remember the conditions that led to our marriage, right? It was all a big mistake.
“As for Bella, she’s been through a lot.
She was being trafficked, practically hidden and in captivity when we rescued her.
That was why it took me this long to find her. I have a mate now, Eva,” he said, his eyes holding the truth of his love for Bella.
My heart clenched as I listened to his words, understanding that our relationship meant nothing.
“You want to announce her as your mate?” I asked, my voice quivering slightly.
“I can’t. At least not now. She’s too weak to be Luna. Apart from her injuries, she’s a gamma.
So she’s weak. I can’t cast you aside; the pack will not approve of it. I still need you to stand in as Luna. It’s not a request but an order, I am ordering you as your Alpha,” Xavier stated authoritatively, his eyes burning with passion for Bella.
“Yes,” I nodded demurely, my heart aching with the realization that I would be living in the shadow of his true mate.
“What about me?” I whispered, unable to suppress the pain in my voice.
“I only married you because of the mistake. You were never my mate, Eva. I’ve found her now. Know your place,” he said coldly, and I understood that there was no room for me in his heart.
“You’ll be well compensated. Don’t worry.”
As I sank into a nearby chair, I felt my dreams shatter into a thousand pieces.
It had only been days since we had grown closer, shared moments of intimacy, and I had foolishly believed it meant something more.
But now, it was clear that he belonged to her, and I was merely a temporary placeholder.
Turning to leave, my heart heavy with sorrow, a lady rushed past me, heading straight for Xavier’s office.
Our eyes met briefly, a sense of déjà vu washed over me, as if I had seen her before.
Hurrying into the office, Bella threw herself into Xavier’s arms, and my heart ached as I witnessed the depth of their connection. Xavier held her tenderly, his voice soft and caring as he spoke to her.
There was a love between them that could never be replicated with me.
That was the mate bond, it’s the real thing I’ve been with Xavier but he never looked at me that way, but he just met Bella but there was clear and burning love in his eyes.
I’ll wait outside, I murmured, my voice choked with emotion, unable to bear their intimacy any longer.
“Wait,” Xavier called, his tone still cold but firm.
Turning to face him, I braced myself for whatever he was about to say.
Eva, this is Bella, my mate. Bella, meet Eva, we are married. She’ll be performing the Luna function for now until you’re safe,” he introduced us, his gaze softening as he looked at Bella, and becoming detached as he glanced at me.
One's body language couldn’t lie.
Bella regarded me with a smug smile, and I could feel her disdain for me, understanding that I was an obstacle in her path.
“I’m sure we’ll get along” I managed to say politely, though my heart felt heavy with pain.
“Thank you,” Bella replied, her words laced with underlying tension.
I turned to leave, deciding to take the stairs instead of the elevator.
The empty stairwell provided a quiet sanctuary where I could finally let my tears flow freely.
Xavier and Bella were a perfect fit, destined for each other, while I was merely a replacement, a fake.
The real mate was back now
My heart ached for the dreams I had foolishly held onto the hope of a loving and
functional relationship with Xavier.
It was now clear that he would devote himself to his true mate, Bella,
Heart hammering in my chest and holding back tears I walked away.
Just as I got to the stairs I heard someone call out my name.
Turning, to the caller, it’s her Bella walking towards me with a menacing and mean look on her face.

The moment Bella was informed of Xavier’s wife’s visit to his office, she hurriedly left the hospital heading there.
Curiosity and a desire to assert her position as his true mate fueled her actions.
Bella wanted to see what Eva looked like and make it clear that she was the one destined to be with Xavier.
As she approached, she couldn’t help but feel a strong wave of anger, sensing Eva’s presence as a strong and capable werewolf.
It was intimidating, compared to her, she was a nobody.
It was clear, she didn’t need anyone to tell her.
Looking at Eva she felt a bitter surge of anger, she would have to compete with that.
Jasmine had spent the entire day immersed in the comfortable cocoon of her home, surrounded by the familiar comfort of her living space. The muffled sounds of her new neighbor’s movements next door had piqued her curiosity, creating a backdrop to her day as she toggled between work and the monotony of television. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of warm orange and pink across the sky, Jasmine decided to treat herself to a meal ordered from her favorite local restaurant. The aroma of the delivered food filled her kitchen, teasing her taste buds and sparking an unexpected craving for a cold, fizzy cola to complement the flavors. To her dismay, a thorough search of her refrigerator revealed an empty space where her beloved cola bottles should have been. The realization was accompanied by another, more pressing shortage, she was out of tissue, an essential commodity she couldn’t do without that night.Jasmine, normally hated venturing out into the night, found herself c
As Eva stepped into the room, the sight she was greeted with was completely. unexpected. The space, once defined by the practicality of a sofa and television, had been transformed into a makeshift tent. A bedspread, artfully erected, stood. as the centerpiece, adorned with scattered toys that hinted at an impromptu camping adventure or some imaginative game that had unfolded in her absence. Despite the vibrant chaos of scattered toys, an unexpected tranquility enveloped the room. The trio; Xavier, Daisy, and Liam, lay sound asleep, blissfully unaware of the world around them. Xavier, sprawled on the sofa, served as an inadvertent camp counselor and bed, with Daisy sprawled across his chest and Liam, the little adventurer, curled up on his legs, Liam was hugging Xavier,s legs in his sleep, for little boy just loved the man’s legs. The scene was undeniably adorable, a revelation that caught Eva off guard and prompted a genuine burst of laughter. It was a side of Xavier Wild she hadn’
As the vibrant colors from two completed paintings and the laughter from three episodes of Peppa Pig filled the room, the kids eagerly settled down to indulge in the delightful snacks that Xavier had thoughtfully brought. Their attention, however, was entirely captivated by Xavier, almost as if Eva were an invisible presence in the room.Observing the unique bond forming between Xavier and her children, a realization dawned on Eva – she was witnessing a side of her kids she hadn’t seen before, an aspect previously unknown to her.Liam, in particular, was unusually talkative, making it evident that they yearned for both parental figures. No matter how hard Eva tried, the presence of a father figure seemed indispensable.“Eva, I left something in the car. I’ll just head downstairs for a few minutes to retrieve them,”Xavier announced later, his hands had been occupied with the basket and snacks, leaving him unable to bring along the additional items.“Can I go with?” Liam inquired.“O
Eva found herself overcome with a sense of weariness as she contemplated. Xavier’s impending visit the following day. Gratitude filled her for the connection he had with her and her children, yet a growing unease gnawed at her. Liam seemed to be forming a bond with him. And even Daisy, it was clear she liked him.Eva could tell from her eyes on Xavier. She was in awe of his persona. But The fear of separation loomed over her like a storm cloud, threatening to disrupt the fragile balance she had maintained. She massaged her temples, feeling a headache creeping in. The facade she had meticulously crafted, the illusion that these were not Xavier’s children, weighed heavily on her conscience.Despite Xavier’s understanding, his love for them was palpable. He had accepted they weren’t his but he still loved them anyway. The guilt she felt was a heavy burden, one that she struggled to bear.As she gazed upon her children’s peaceful sleeping faces, Eva questioned the choices she had made.
The duo stood in a quiet and secluded corner of the hospital. There, Xavier and Liam shared a heartfelt moment, an unexpected sight for those accustomed to Xavier’s renowned cold and aloof demeanor. The transformation of this once feared man into a gentle figure in the presence of a child would have undoubtedly surprised onlookers.Meanwhile, Eva meticulously combed through the hospital’s first floor, fervently searching for her usually reserved and introverted son, Liam, who usually kept to himself. It was a shock to her when he suddenly charged toward Xavier.Suddenly, Liam and Xavier spotted Eva, who was still frantically scanning the area in search of her son. Spotting the two of them, Xavier hoisted Liam in his arms and approached Eva with an awkward yet warm greeting. “Hey,”Xavier began, while Eva, relieved to find her son, scolded Liam for running off.“Liam. You shouldn’t run off on me like that.” Eva scolded.“Sorry mama.” Liam apologized, still being clingy to Xavier.“Wh
After concluding their discussion with Dr. Gomez, Xavier and Eva made their way back to Daisy’s ward. The weight of the doctor’s words lingered in the air, and Eva couldn’t help but sigh as she reflected on the situation.“I’m no miracle worker. I may be a specialist, but there is still a chance and rate of mortality. I would suggest we wait for a few months,” Dr. Gomez had conveyed, and Xavier cast a glance at Eva, who sat there calmly, absorbing every word.Dr. Gomez continued, sharing insights into his experiences, mentioning the youngest age he had operated on a similar case–a child aged six. He expressed his preference for waiting a few more weeks, allowing time for preparation, both in terms of Daisy’s physical condition and her overall well–being. Eva nodded in understanding. “In the meantime, she’ll remain here at the hospital until the time of surgery. I and my new team will work to ensure little Daisy is well recovered,” the doctor assured, offering a small but comforting sm
