LOGINEva‘s POV
“Oh my goodness, look! It’s snowing outside.” I mused in excitement as I gazed through the window. I loved snow. I stroked my protruding belly gently and lovingly, feeling the gentle kicks from within.
I couldn’t wait to meet my babies.
I stepped out to the balcony, the temperature had dropped, the air a little bit chilly.
Still I felt warm and excited inside.
After my divorce and rejection, I suffered severe emotional pain for a month.
The pain of rejection was something I never anticipated.
Even though Xavier and I weren’t fated mates, the rejection hurt deeply.
Immediately after Adam dropped me off at that small hotel, that day, I went for a thorough medical test and scan.
To my surprise and delight, the tests revealed two tiny heartbeats inside of me.
Tears of joy welled up in my eyes as I listened to their precious heartbeats.
After losing my parents, I felt utterly alone in the world, but now, I had a family of my own in the making.
I decided to leave the city and its pack life behind to start anew in a secluded small town.
I knew that if I remained connected to any pack, Xavier might find me with his Alpha influence.
So, I chose to go rogue, taking refuge in this tranquil town where I hoped to live peacefully with my unborn children.
Thankfully, I had enough money to sustain us, at least until I gave birth.
Still, I couldn’t afford to take any chances. One evening, while strolling through the quiet streets, I spotted a job opening.
My baby bump was still relatively small and hidden, so I decided to apply.
This decision changed my life in ways I could never have predicted.
That’s when I met Chloe, my boss, and now cherished friend.
She welcomed me into her family’s business, a cozy cafe, and we quickly formed a close bond.
Chloe soon demanded to be the godmother of the twins and offered unwavering support throughout my pregnancy, making me feel like I wasn’t alone anymore.
As the clock struck past six, I relished the beautiful view from my little home.
Watching the sunset was one of my favorite pastimes, and the picturesque scenery from my window never failed to captivate me.
The day was slowly turning into night, casting a warm orange glow across the room.
I heard the door open and close, signaling Chloe’s return.
She entered the room with a cheerful smile and her usual playful tone.
“Hey, mama, how have you been?” Chloe said in her endearing manner, walking over to me. I smiled warmly at her and placed my hand on my belly.
“How are my babies doing? You must be tired,” I said, feeling the reassuring movements from within.
Chloe chuckled and gently rubbed my belly.
“Well, you’re a bit of a handful, aren’t you?” I let out a small giggle.
“I’m a little exhausted, to be honest.”
My pregnancy had gone a bit longer than the usual nine months, and I was now a week past my due date.
“The doctor mentioned that if the babies don’t arrive soon, they might need to induce labor,” I admitted with a small sigh.
Chloe responded with a playful scolding, “Oh, those kids. You’re so comfortable in your mom’s belly. Come out already!”
We both shared a laugh as Chloe playfully urged my unborn twins to make their grand
entrance into the world. I couldn’t wait to hold them in my arms and shower them with all
the love I had.
Chloe’s eyes then fell on a vase of fresh flowers on the table.
“Are these from Noah?” she asked, taking in the delicate fragrance.
I nodded with a fond smile.
“Yes, he surprised me with these this morning.”
Chloe raised an eyebrow and teased, “He bought you flowers? That’s so cute. Someone’s getting attached,” she added, her expression suggestive.
I chuckled in response. “Noah’s a kind and gentle man, always willing to help. That’s all there is to it.”
But Chloe continued, her playful tone replaced with a hint of concern.
“I know, Eva, but don’t close yourself off to the possibility of romance. You’re still so young at just twenty–three, and you have your whole life ahead of you. Who knows, you might even find your true mate someday.”
I sighed, my past heartbreak still fresh in my memory.
“I don’t need anyone else. I have my babies, and I have you. We’ll be okay together, just us.”
Xavier had shattered my heart with his rejection.
I had given up everything, followed him faithfully, only to be discarded like yesterday’s news.
All that truly mattered to me now was my children; they were my anchor, my reason to keep moving forward.
Chloe, always perceptive, added, “But Noah seems to have a lot of secrets, doesn’t he?”
My curiosity was piqued.
“Secrets? What do you mean?”
Chloe hesitated for a moment before sharing a surprising revelation.
“He lost his mate and unborn pup in a tragic accident one snowy day!”
I gasped, my eyes widening in shock. “Wait, are you serious?”
Chloe nodded solemnly. “Yes, Eva. Noah carries a heavy burden of grief, just like you.” It all made sense the very first time we met.
I had been a little clumsy, and Noah reached out, gently grabbing me, even scolding me.
He was always so protective and caring.
The sadness that often clouded his eyes started to make sense.
Sometimes, when he looked at me, I could see that lingering sadness.
His wife had passed away while she was pregnant, which explained his sorrow.
That was why he was so protective.
“He still hasn’t come to terms with her death, you know,” Chloe confided.
“Noah doesn’t really belong in this small town. He’s the CEO of a company, but he met his wife here, so he returns every year. That’s how you crossed paths with him. Although I must say, he’s staying much longer than he usually does.” Chloe sighed as she spoke.
“I think you remind him of her. So he just wants to be sure you’re okay.” Chloe continued.
I nodded in understanding. Noah, had been through a lot.
The next morning, as I strolled along, my thoughts wandered back to my conversation with Chloe about Noah.
Suddenly, a sickening screech of metal pierced the peaceful morning.
The world turned upside down as I found myself sprawled on the ground. My body felt weak and burdened with an unbearable heaviness.
Agonizing pain tore through me, and the world blurred into a hazy, disorienting whirlwind.
Bella sat on the edge of her hospital bed, surrounded by the cold embrace of solitude. The dim light in the room accentuated the weariness in her eyes. She stared down at her hands, her wrist covered in bandages. The other one held in place with a cuff and chained to the bed.Caught, she’d been caught. The last thing she remembered was escaping from Xavier with her brother then a car ramming into the two of them suddenly. Her mind raced, contemplating the events that had led her to this moment. She has carefully covered her tracks at all times, but now, it seemed all the layers of deception had fallen apart. Xavier had actually held and threatened to throw her down a building.“Well, Bella, looks like your games finally caught up with you,” a voice echoed within her mind, making her cover her ears with her palms.“Shut up!” She barked.“This is the end.” The reflection taunted. No! It couldn’t be. Sebastian would come for her.“No one would save you. You’re a nobody.”“Now look at
“What happened?” Eva asked anxiously.Xavier had suddenly slumped at the entrance of a ward. “Is he okay? Xavier!” She yelled, shaking him, but his body was numb and cold.“There’s a high dose of poison. It seemed to be the highly toxic drug Nexorfin. It’s amazing he was able to withstand and survive for this long,” the doctor commented with a sigh.“Axel, what’s going on?” she turned to him. Xavier was yet to explain where her son had been taken and how it was all his fault.“We should let him rest a little and keep him under observation,” the man muttered, then turned to leave. Eva watched Xavier’s unconscious face.“Nexorfin,” she muttered. “Who did that tonXavier?” She asked. “That’s really poisonous.Did that have anything to do with Liam?” Eva asked, looking at Axel. Her son had been exposed to such danger. Axel stared at Eva,unable to answer the questions; Xavier would be more suitable to answer them. How was he to tell her it was her mate that had done all that and made them s
Xavier gently placed Liam at a safe distance before turning back towards the burning building, his heart pounding with worry.“Derrick! Derrick!” he yelled desperately, hoping for any sign of his friend.“I don’t think you should,” a calm voice interrupted Xavier’s frantic calls. He turned to see a man standing nearby, his expression grave.“Derrick’s still in there,” Xavier explained, his voice strained with emotion.“I know. He’s gone. He’s dead now,” the man informed him with a somber tone.“How did that happen?!” Xavier demanded, his eyes wide with shock and disbelief as flames engulfed the structure.“That explosion was meant for both of you,” the man explained matter-of-factly.“What?!” Xavier exclaimed, his mind reeling with the revelation.“Yes. But you got out just in time,” the man confirmed, his gaze fixed on the burning wreckage.“He yelled at me to leave,” Xavier whispered, his voice trembling with the weight of the realization. His old friend, whom he had just found aliv
Axel descended the stairs and was greeted by a familiar silhouette waiting for him. He halted, his eyes widening in disbelief, blinking repeatedly. The dark, wavy hair, the slender frame–it couldn’t be. With hesitant steps, his heart raced, and he approached cautiously.“Jasmine,” Axel whispered, his voice tinged with shock as he confronted the unexpected sight. She turned to meet his gaze, and his lips parted, unable to comprehend the reality before him.“Jasmine?” He repeated, his voice hoarse, dropping the items in his hands in astonishment.A smile graced her lips, tears welling in her eyes as she rushed towards him.“It was Bella. It’s all Bella. She was there that night, she killed those men and tried to take Nathan’s wife as well. Nathan’s wife died because of me,” she cried out, her anguish pouring forth trying to warn him.Axel enveloped her in his embrace, still grappling with the surreal notion of her being alive.“I thought I lost you forever. I’m so sorry. I’m sorry I le
“Xavier would come; he knows I have his son,”Derrick muttered, his voice tinged with anticipation.“If my hunch is right, this should be the place,” Xavier muttered to himself as he exited the vehicle, stepping into the dilapidated and abandoned house. A van was parked some distance away. He walked in quietly, his senses alert to every sound and scent. His nostrils pricked and twisted at the familiar scent. With determination, he rushed into the building, the moonlight slipping through the broken ceiling, illuminating the room. Xavier stood in the middle of the hall for a moment, memories flooding back of the times they spent in Derrick’s father’s old house-the first one they lived in before the pack’s relocation.“You came,” a voice said dryly from the shadows.“I knew you would find it,” Derrick commended, his figure emerging at the top of the stairs.“Derrick,” Xavier muttered, his hands balling into fists. “Is that really you?” His voice tinged with disbelief, unable to compreh
The room reverberated with the rhythmic beeping of medical instruments, creating a somber ambiance. Xavier’s intense gaze fixated on Bella, lying frail on the bed, unconscious, a breathing tube delicately connected to her nose. Questions swirled in his mind – Derrick? How and why? Was Derrick alive? Did Derrick actually know her and send her?“The other man brought in with her died on the spot. I assume it’s her brother; the two bear a striking resemblance,” the doctor informedXavier, who absorbed the information with a silent nod.“Ensure she doesn’t die. If she does, I’ll deal with you,” Xavier warned impassively, his words carrying a subtle threat that the doctor misinterpreted as genuine concern.“Is she in pain?” Xavier inquired, seeking more details about Bella’s condition.“She has a few broken bones, some concussion. We’ll make sure we treat her to the best of our abilities for a full recovery,” the doctor assured, attempting to offer solace.“Recover?” Xavier questioned, hi
