Amidst the sterile white halls of the bustling hospital, a symphony of hurried footsteps and distant murmurs formed a dissonant backdrop to the unfolding emergency.

The nurse’s voice cut through the chaos, urgent and trembling with the weight of the situation as she guided the resident doctor toward the accident and emergency ward, where Eva lay, her condition hanging in the balance.

The fluorescent lights overhead seemed too harsh, too unforgiving for the gravity of the moment.

Eva was wheeled in.

She lay there feebly on the hospital bed. Her swollen belly protruded beneath the hospital gown like a precious cargo, both vulnerable and resilient.

“There was an accident,” the nurse explained briefing the doctor on the way.

Eva listened while she battled with unconsciousness, it was hard to remain awake.

Weakly, she implored, “Please, save my babies.” Her words, a fragile plea, hung in the air like a prayer.
