Chapter 14: Our Children, My Secret

Madeline

“Welcome back, sweetheart.” His voice whispered in an excited tone, “I thought you would never wake up.” Before I could understand what's happening, he rushed to me and pulled me into a hug which I didn't expect.

I didn't want to hug him back, I wanted to move back but I couldn't. My wolf craves his touch, so I give in to what she wants.

His scents filled my nostrils as I rested against him.

This was what I have been trying to avoid. The bond we once shared, the crush I used to have for him, the love that never fully went away, it was all coming back slowly and I hated the fact that my head was now full of thoughts I shouldn't have.

Instead of pushing him away, I felt safe in his arms. My heart was racing, and my body reacted in ways I didn't want to admit.

My pants was fucking wet. My nipples harden.

“I miss you so much.” He said, his breath evaporating on my neck. Fuck! What is this man doing? Why's he suddenly saying all th

Chapter 25WilliamThe night air was sharp, colder than usual, as I guided the children out of the house. They wore small coats, their backpacks clutched tightly in their hands. Stella was already outside, standing by the car with a restless look in her eyes.“Are we ready?” she asked.I nodded. “Yes.”Ethan looked up at me. “Daddy, where are we going? It’s so late.”I knelt down and pulled him close. “We’re going to meet someone who can help us, okay? You just have to be brave for me.”His little face scrunched in confusion, but he nodded. “Okay.”I hugged Ella and Evan too, then helped them into the back seat. Stella started the car as I climbed in beside her. The engine hummed softly in the dark street. The triplets soon fell asleep, their heads resting against each other. I turned in my seat to watch them, my chest tightening. They didn’t understand how dangerous this all was. I had to keep it that way.“Where exactly is this witch?” I asked Stella.“She lives deep in the woods,”

Chapter 24MadelineThe morning light slipped through the curtains, soft but cold. I opened my eyes slowly, hoping for a moment that everything from last night had been a nightmare. But the heavy walls around me were real, the faint scent of Rowan’s pack was real, and the ache in my neck where he had marked me was very real.I sat up, pressing my palm against the mark. It pulsed under my touch, a reminder of what he had done. My wolf stirred inside me, restless and conflicted. She didn’t hate Rowan. She recognized him. But I did.I went to the small bathroom attached to the room and splashed cold water on my face. My reflection stared back at me — pale, tired, and frightened.“You have to think, Madeline,” I whispered to myself. “You have to be smart.”The door opened behind me, and I turned quickly. A young woman stood there, her head bowed. She carried a tray of food — bread, fruit, and warm tea.“Alpha Rowan asked me to bring you breakfast,” she said softly, avoiding my eyes.I wal

Chapter 23MadelineThe night air was cold against my face as Rowan dragged me through the forest. His hand was firm around my arm but not painful, just unbreakable. I stumbled behind him, my heart hammering so loud I could hardly hear the leaves crunch under our feet.Every step took me farther from William, farther from the triplets, farther from the small life I had tried to build.“Where are you taking me?” I whispered, my voice shaking. He didn’t answer at first. He just kept walking, his back straight, his long coat brushing against my legs. Finally, he said, “Home.”I shivered. “This is not my home.”He glanced at me, his eyes dark. “It will be.”We reached a clearing where a black SUV waited. Two wolves in human form stood near it, both bowing their heads as Rowan approached. They didn’t even look at me.“Open the door,” Rowan ordered. One of the men opened the back door, and Rowan motioned for me to get inside.“I’m not going,” I said, trying to sound brave. He turned his hea

Chapter 21MadelineThe night after Rowan appeared at my window felt like an endless tunnel. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw his glowing eyes in the dark, his voice echoing in my head. Meet me tomorrow night… meet me or I will take you in front of them.I lay awake, staring at the ceiling. William’s slow breathing beside me reminded me he was still asleep, still unaware of the danger crouched outside our home. The triplets were down the hall, safe for now, but how long would that last?My heart felt like a stone inside my chest. I had no choice but to meet Rowan. If I did not, he would storm into our house and destroy everything. I knew how strong he was. No lock or door could stop him.I slipped out of bed quietly and went into the bathroom, shutting the door behind me. Turning on the dim light, I looked at my reflection. My eyes were red, my face pale. And there on my neck was the faint scar of his mark. Even now, after days, it pulsed faintly as if alive.I touched it and whispe

Chapter 20MadelineThe air in the new house felt different. It was quiet, almost too quiet, as if the walls were holding their breath. We had finally moved away from the old neighborhood, hoping to start fresh. William had done everything to make the place feel like home. He painted the walls, changed the curtains, even bought new furniture so I would not feel the weight of the past pressing down on me.The triplets were already running around, exploring every corner. Their laughter filled the space and gave me a little comfort. But deep inside, I could not shake the fear that Rowan would find us. He always found a way. He was like a shadow that refused to leave, no matter how much light you tried to bring in.That evening, I made dinner. Rice with chicken stew. Something simple, something I knew everyone would eat without complaint. William helped set the table, smiling at me the whole time. His smile was gentle, reassuring, yet it cut me deeply. He had no idea the kind of storm I w
