50 : An Unexpected Apology

A knock at the door stopped my crying session and looked up with teary eyes from the bed. My hair was a mess, the tips of my strands soaked with my tears, and the bed sheet was crumpled under my fingers. I wiped my eyes, staring at the door. I hoped it was Mia.

I imagined opening the door and her wrapping her arms around me in a tight hug, apologizing to me for being rude to me for an unknown reason. I might throw some tantrums before I gave in. But my hopes shattered when I opened the door and found David standing in front of me.

Could this day get any worse?

My lips fell flat in a straight line and I asked in a stern tone, “Why are you here?” He was the last and the least expected person. I hadn’t forgotten how he insulted me in front of the rest but because of the heap of events crashing onto me, I didn’t have the time to confront him about it. At that point, I couldn’t care less.
