Mag-log inFIVE YEARS LATER
KIARA’S POV The warm rays of morning sunlight fell on me through the kitchen window. I looked at the beautiful sight of the neighborhood while sipping a cup of coffee. The thought of the past came flashing in my head like it was just yesterday. Five years have passed since the fateful night that my world came crumbling. The memories of Leo and Miriam's betrayal are still fresh in my head, but I'm not the same woman anymore. I'm now stronger and wiser. And thanks to Alex who came right on time to save me that fateful day… I would have lost my baby and even died too. Alex has been my friend since high school. We always look out for each other. I know he had a crush on me but I don’t have feelings for him nor even consider being in a relationship with him. I only had eyes for Leo,which broke his heart but still, he never left. Luckily for me that day,it was his number that I dialled before passing out. “I must get my revenge “ I murmured, biting my lower lips. “Mummy! Mummy! Look what I made” my daughter Sophia snapped me out of my thoughts. She held up her colorful drawing of a woman holding hands with a little girl. “Oh baby! Is that us?” I asked as I crouched to her level. “Yes mummy,” she nodded.” Do you like it? “I love it.” I said hugging her so tight. Her innocent smile made my scars almost insignificant.Almost. I heard a knock on my front door, which interrupted our moment. As I opened it, it was Alex. “Hey Kiara,”he said, giving me a warm smile. “So good to see you, Alex.” I pulled him into a warm hug and ushered him in. Immediately Alex entered my living room, Sophia ran to him, excitedly calling out "Uncle Alex!" Alex smiled and raised her up, spinning her in the air as her giggle filled the room. "Hey, kiddo! Missed me?” “Yes! Will you stay for dinner?” she asked excitedly. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of Alex and Sophia. Alex had always been like a father figure in her life. “Maybe later,” he replied, placing her down gently. Then faced me,”Let's talk.” "So, what's this huge job offer you were talking about over the phone?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me. Alex smiled mischievously. "You’ve been shortlisted for Evergreen’s major project. You know they’re one of the top interior designing firms in the country. They want you to pitch for their upcoming project. ”My eyes widened in excitement. "This is huge! Evergreen designs are legendary. How did this happen?” Alex chuckled “I may have sang your praises to the right people. They saw your portfolio and were blown away. You, my friend, is an incredibly talented designer in town, so who wouldn’t want to work with you?” I blushed and smiled at the praises, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Alex. “But there’s just one more thing..you will be up against Williams & Co. & Harrison group too”. “Wait! What? Williams?” “Yes, and I heard that his company is going through some financial constraints now and it’s only Evergreen's project that will restore him back. Alex explained. “Ohhh I see, that scumbag, I will make sure that his company doesn’t get this.” I said with a sly smile. ****************************************************** I walked into the sleek conference room. My eyes scanned the room, taking in the professional atmosphere. I noticed a man standing not too far from where I was standing, he was talking to a group of people in front of him that apparently were his subordinates. Judging by his commanding presence and the deference shown to him, I guessed he must be the CEO of Evergreen company. While I was standing there observing, the man happened to glance over and caught my eye.He began to work towards me with a confident stride. “You must be Kiara right?” He said warmly, stopping in front of me. “Yes,” I replied,my voice steady. “It’s so nice to finally meet the popular interior designer in Los Angeles,” his smile wide and genuine.”You can call me Mark.” I was caught off guard by the compliment, that I felt flattered and a bit shy. I extended my hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you too Mark.” As we shook hands, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. Interior design was something I had always liked and dreamed of even as a child. After I finished schooling in Los Angeles, I was ready to venture and sharpen my skills. But life took an unexpected turn when I met Leo. He had come to Los Angeles for a work function, and it was love at first sight, atleast for me. He convinced me to move to London with him, assuring me of a beautiful life together. But after the divorce, I returned to Los Angeles, to start my life and career over again, with the help of my friend Alex. Lost in my thoughts, I was startled by a voice behind me. “Hello,Mark,” the voice said, polite yet unmistakably familiar. I turned around I couldn't help but notice how handsome he looked, just like always. His piercing eyes, chiseled jawline, and charming smile that once captivated me.. Immediately he saw me, he was stunned. “ Kiaria?”Kiara’s POV I still couldn’t believe myself.Out of everything I could have said in that hospital room, I agreed to let Leo stay with me.I let out a quiet sigh. What exactly was I thinking? And more importantly, what was I going to tell Alex? That thought alone made my chest tighten.Alex wasn’t just anyone. He had been there for me through everything. And now, I was bringing Leo back into my space? Into my life?“This is going to be messy,” I muttered under my breath. The door opened, cutting into my thoughts. The doctor walked in, flipping through a file.“Mrs. Williams,” he called.I stepped forward automatically. “Yes, doctor?”He handed me a small bag of medications.“Make sure he takes these as prescribed. No stress, no overexertion, and he needs proper rest.”“Okay, doctor. Thank you.”“And you can meet the cashier on your way out. He’s fit to be discharged.”“Alright.”I nodded politely. But before I could turn away, I felt Leo’s gaze on me.The moment the doctor left, I tur
Kiara’s POV “I know it’s very hard right now, but please wake up.”My voice came out softer than I expected.Almost like a whisper.I sat beside him, my fingers gently moving through his hair, slowly. Like I was afraid he would disappear if I touched him too hard. The sound of the machines beep echoed through the quiet room. I leaned closer, studying his face and that was when it hit me.Even like this, he still looked cute. His lips slightly parted. His lashes resting against his skin. His expression calm in a way I had never seen before. My breath caught slightly.“What is wrong with me?” I muttered under my breath.I should be thinking about what happened to him. To his company. But instead, I was here staring at his lips.My fingers trailed down from his hair to his nose, and down to his lips.I paused. My heart thumped once. Then louder.“They’re still soft…” I whispered without thinking.Gosh! I shouldn’t be doing this. I shouldn’t even be here. This man hurt me. Broke me. Ch
Leo’s POVI just stood still, watching and thinking of the next step to take.“Sir—sir, are you okay?”I turned slightly, it was one of the officers. While the other was inside my office, scanning the room like they could still find the robbers.“I’m fine,” I said.“Are you hurt?”“No.”My gaze shifted past them to the floor, where the staff who had been hit earlier was being carried out, his head wrapped in cloth, a faint stain of red seeping through.Though he was alive, he was barely conscious. My jaw tightened. They moved quickly. I turned back to the system. The damage wasn’t just on the surface. It was deep.“Sir.”I turned slightly. “Talk.”My IT head stepped forward, laptop in hand, his face pale. “This is bad.”“How bad?”He swallowed.“They didn’t just breach the system… they rewrote parts of it.”I slowly turned to face him.“What does that mean?”“It means whatever they installed… it’s not just a virus,” he said carefully. “It’s embedded. It’s attacking internal files, bac
Kiara’s POVI was halfway through reviewing a contract when my office door burst open.“Ma’am!”I looked up immediately, my brows tightening. My assistant stood there, slightly out of breath, phone clutched in her hand.“Have you seen the news?”I frowned. “What news?”She walked quickly toward me and placed the phone on my desk, turning the screen so I could see.“Look.”I glanced at it, looked properly and froze.Videos of crowds running.Security men and sirens. A bold headline sat at the top.“Armed Robbery Hits Williams & Co Group Headquarters — Massive Loss Reported.”My fingers slowly stilled on the desk.“What is this?” I asked, my voice calm, but lower.“They’re saying robbers attacked the company this morning,” she said quickly. “There were rumors of gunshots, ma’am. Staff were injured, and they’re reporting that their systems were hacked too.”I leaned back slightly, eyes still fixed on the screen. Saw someone, I guess it's one of his staff, that was being carried out, sucke
Leo’s POV The day started like any other. It was so normal.I sat behind my desk, flipping through a financial report, half-listening to my assistant as she ran through the day’s schedule. The meetings, the calls, etc.Everything was moving smoothly.“Mr. Leo?” my assistant called softly.I looked up. “Yeah?”“You have a call scheduled in fifteen minutes with the Valencia partners. They’re asking for reassurance after the last…”A sharp sound cut her off. We both froze.Another one followed. It was the sound of a gunshot. For a split second, my brain refused to process it.Then we heard people screaming loud and terrified.“What the—” my assistant gasped, her voice already shaking.“Get down!” I snapped instantly, already moving. More gunshots was heard, closer this time.A heard a sound of a glass shattered somewhere down the corridor. A loud crash followed. People were running and shouting.“Open the door—!”“Help—!”“Everybody down!”Chaos everywhere.I grabbed my assistant’s arm
Leo’s POVI was so deep in thought that I didn’t notice anything outside.I had left Kiara’s office hours ago, yet my mind hadn’t stopped racing. Miriam had given birth. A child that wasn’t mine. The betrayal didn’t come in waves—it sat heavy, like something lodged in my chest. It's not just the lie, but the confidence behind it. The way she carried it like I would never find out. Like I was the fool in her story. My jaw tightened.I dialed Mark’s number without thinking, my grip on the steering wheel tightening as the line rang.“Mark,” I said the moment he picked up.“Leo, man, are you okay?” His voice was so calm.I let out a dry laugh. “I… I don’t know.”Silence.“Miriam gave birth,” I continued. “The baby isn’t mine.”A pause.“That’s horrible,” Mark said slowly. “How could she do something like that?”I didn’t respond immediately.“I’m sorry, Leo,” he added. “You’ve got every right to feel betrayed.”I exhaled, rubbing my jaw. “I don’t even care who the father is anymore. I just
Leo's Pov I was seated behind my desk, going through some emails on my laptop and the company’s financial records from the previous month. The figures were not making sense to me. The more I scroll, the more unsettled I felt. For weeks now, I had been distracted. I’d convinced myself everything wa
Kiara's pov“Kiara I don't like the idea of you working with your ex husband again.” Alex said, his voice tight with frustration. “Just because of what? You want to help him retain a client? Are you now his super hero or what? Why not take that client yourself since you're the one he's looking for
Leo’s POVI excused myself calmly, but the moment I stepped into the restroom, my smile vanished. I locked myself in there and dialed Vincent immediately.“Talk to me,” I said the second he picked up.“I was able to track the guy,” Vincent replied. His voice was low. “I’ve got his location too.”My
Leo’s POV“Miriam, breathe! Please, breathe.”My hands shook as I held her shoulders, gently at first, then harder when she didn’t respond immediately. “Stay with me. Miriam, please.”This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.We were arguing, something small that escalated the way things always did be
