Chapter 3

Carrying this pile of woods to create a wooden plank, I halted when I sense something. It is strange. There is a weird aura coming from somewhere around there...

As I look at it... there was a figure.... of a boy.

Slightly narrowing my eyes, I tried to see its appearance but in no luck, I saw nothing but a mere shadow.  Being so fed up with finding out who that person is, I lost track of time while in the forest.

Ah, shit, now I'm in a big big trouble!

"Sebastian..."

A person whispered my name as it catches my attention. To my surprise, that person was coming in my direction.

I continued throwing the axe in the air as I tried to create any beat of a new wooden planks.

"Father"

I mumbled as I look at him with slight worries. Looking at the place that is in my back, I can see how the pile of wooden planks is not yet finished. The hourglass I have with me states that it was almost time for me to be back home.

Ah... shit....

Knowing that my father is here, it seems like he was on his way home. 

But why did he walk in here... it is not like he really needs to walk in this direction to go to our place but... why didn't he just use the shorter route?

I sigh, for sure I am doomed since I haven't finished the regimen he did. That is to create half a thousand of wooden planks using all these woods.

"Based on the time that is given to you, I can say that it is more than enough to have you finish your works. But then, judging by how you seem to be struggling in doing so, did something happen?"

He asked as he sounds concerned but in fact, he was mad by the fact that I haven't finished my work. Ha... but how can I possibly do so? It is not like I started at the exact time they asked me to!

While slightly bowing my head I can say that t is really I who is at fault.

"Yes... Father. Something did happen"

I started not wanting to lie to him since the first time I did, I had a good beating. It even made my mother who was always on the secluded tower go down and look after me.

"I wouldn't understand if you don't tell it"

He mumbled while sitting on the body of the large tree that is right beside him. It was cut that is why it is easy for him to sit on it which would probably look just like a chair. 

"I was on my way gathering some woods to cut when... I somehow went in the direction of our borders. With woods on my arms, I was surprised when I feel like someone is staring at me"

With my small hands, I tried to gesture the words that I am telling. 

"I look at it and saw a shadow, I am not sure what it is but it was really looking at me. Sensing what is his movements I stayed and waited for the thing that he will do"

"And what would you do if it is a killer who hunts down small children like you?"

"But father, I have mastered the basic defenses"

"Just as what you have said, it is nothing but a mere defense"

"But my teacher praised me. Master Zuheng said that compared to other wolves at my age I am learning much faster"

"And does that even mean that you are good enough?"

"Um... no?"

I slightly tilt my head as I look at my father. He is not this talkative and would just reply with a short response every time we talked. That is also the reason why I sometimes think he is someone who has a far connection with me. 

He is always away and busy with his work. That is also why I am somehow surprised to see I’m meet me. Let alone talk to me leisurely.

"In this place that you are living, each lie is at stake. With you being a child of a soon to be alpha, I can say  that... you will follow our steps"

Indeed, my grandfather is the alpha of this pack. He is strong and has a great sense of justice. Many people feared and respect him for he is truly amazing in everything that he did.

"Now, what did you do when you saw that person?"

"Um... nothing much father. He is outside the borders which is why I have no permission to walk there. Since I AM NOT ALLOWED IN DOING SO BECAUSE THAT IS AGAINST THE RULES OF FATHER"

I didn't know that with my words, I somehow emphasize the term of me being someone that is not allowed to go in that place.

Well, I shouldn't let him know that I did go there one time. Or else, father will surely be mad.

"You didn't know what is the thing that that person wanted?"

"No, I just feel the intense stare that the person is giving off"

"Is it a wolf?"

"I can't smell that person's scent since it was far from where I am standing but I am sure that the person is not giving off any strange aura just like other tribes so... maybe that person is a wolf too"

"Is that person a... adult?"

"No, it seems like that person is a little taller than me"

My father asked me as he slightly fix his coat. To think that he will stand up already, it seems like he will just go back home. Luckily, I  won't be having any punishment since I didn't finish his regimen. Hah, maybe I should just say the things that I needed to say so that he will forget about the task that was meant for me.

"And, how come you know that he is just slightly taller than you??"

"I compared his height to that tall tree he is standing at"

"Hmm... it seems like you have some insights about that. I would like to hear how you did know such an incredible thing"

ow, it seems like my plan is working.  I will just set it done and after father went back home then I will quickly finish my task. With that, none would know that I haven't finished my regiment on time...

"I was as tall as that small trunk beside it. So, I -" I halt when I realize that I made some big pit for me to be read easily.

"T-that tree is as tall as this tree. I calculated it and it seems that my height should be that--"

"Is that so?"

"U-uh.. yea-ah"

My father smiled at me as he walked in my direction. With that, I quickly drop down as I kneel on the ground. 

Oh no, this is bad. Really really bad!

'Pffft'

Wait, did I just hear someone laughing?
